Review of the genus Hovorestenia Santos-Silva (Coleoptera: Disteniidae)

Hovorestenia Santos-Silva, 2007 is a disteniid genus differentiated from other Neotropical Disteniini by the metatarsomeres II and V subequal in length, in contrast with the metatarsomere V distinctly longer than II in the other genera. So far, the genus is known only from male specimens. The discovery of new Hovorestenia species, represented by both sexes, shows that such current diagnostic character is sexually dimorphic, with metatarsomere V distinctly longer than II in female. The genus Hovorestenia is therefore reviewed and redescribed and two new species are described: H. cleideae, from Colombia and Ecuador, and H. espilota, from Colombia. It allowed to describe the hitherto unknown females and to appoint out sexually dimorphic characters for the first time in the genus. The genus is now composed of four species distributed from the central region of Colombia to Ecuador. Photographs of Hovorestenia species are included and a key to differentiate them is provided

A new species of \u3ci\u3ePteroplatus\u3c/i\u3e Buquet, 1840 (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) and taxonomical notes in Neotropical Cerambycidae

Pteroplatus antonkozlovi Santos-Silva and Botero, sp. nov. (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) is described from Panama. Neocompsa thelgema Martins, 1971 is recorded from Panama, and chromatic variation is discussed. The female of Icimauna aysa Martins and Galileo, 1991 is described. Some corrections in a recently published work on Acanthoderini are provided, and the combination Scythropopsis pupillata (Bates, 1880) is established as having precedence over the simultaneously published combination Aegomorphus pupillatus (Bates, 1880). Recently, we received a relatively large number of specimens of Cerambycidae from Panama, collected by Anton O. Kozlov and Yuliya Kovaleva (Russia) in 2018 and 2019. Among these specimens we found a new species of Pteroplatus Buquet, 1840, and new country record for Neocompsa thelgema Martins, 1971. Additionally, we found a female of Icimauna aysa Martins and Galileo, 1991. As this last species was mentioned only in catalogs and checklists after the original description of the male, which omitted some characters, we took the opportunity to describe the female in detail. We also take the opportunity to provide some corrections to the work by Santos-Silva et al. (2020)

New species, synonymy, new records, and taxonomic notes in American Cerambycidae (Coleoptera)

Cotyclytus parumnotatus (Zajciw, 1963) (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae: Cerambycinae: Clytini) is revalidated and a neotype is designated. Anatinomma Bates, 1892 (Cerambycinae: Hesperophanini) is reported as a neuter gender and two species-group names are corrected: A. brevicorne Fisher, 1944 and A. in­sulare Chemsak and Linsley, 1964; the latter is newly recorded from Honduras. Pachymerola vitticollis Bates, 1892 (Cerambycinae: Hyboderini) is recorded for the first time in the Mexican state of Jalisco, and chromatic variation is reported. Smodicum dinellii Bruch, 1911 (Cerambycinae: Smodicini) is recorded from Bolivia; and Corcovado bezarki Martins and Galileo, 2008 (Lamiinae: Hemilophini) is recorded from Belize. Parhip­popsis Breuning, 1973 (Lamiinae: Agapanthiini) is synonymized with Rosalba Thomson, 1864 (Lamiinae: Apomecynini) and Rosalba columbiana (Breuning, 1973) is a new combination. Neocompsa flavoquadri­punctata Botero and Santos-Silva, new species (Cerambycinae: Neoibidionini), is described from Mexico (Jalisco); Temnopis spiculata Botero and Santos-Silva, new species (Cerambycinae: Oemini) is described from Bolivia (Beni); Trichohippopsis basilaris Botero and Santos-Silva, new species (Lamiinae: Agapanthi­ini) and Anobrium bicolor Botero and Santos-Silva, new species (Lamiinae: Pteropliini) are described from French Guiana

Mathematical modelling and simulation of a rocket’s take-off trajectory

A rocket is a vehicle that launches into space or describes a suborbital flight. It’s subjected to the forces of weight, thrust, and the aerodynamic forces, lift and drag. The relative magnitude and direction of the forces determines the flight trajectory of the rocket. The objectives of this paper are to model the rocket’s take-off trajectory and understand the tradeoff when using the main engine in conjunction with the lateral thrusters. Also, to obtain a linear model that represents the altitude obtained by the rocket in the ascending phase and to examine system behavior through stability and sensitivity analysis. Rocket’s trajectory is obtained in four situations depends on the engine or thrusters that are in operation. Linearization methods were used to replace the model by a simpler function due to the possibility of use tools for studying linear systems to analyze the behavior of a nonlinear function near a given point and because a linear model is required for certain types of analysis such as stability analysis. Finally, sensitivity analysis of the parameters of the model is used to study how the uncertainty in the output of a mathematical model can be apportioned to different sources of uncertainty in its input
