Association of sleep quality and psychological aspects with reports of bruxism and TMD in Brazilian dentists during the COVID-19 pandemic

Dentists are exposed to contamination by SARS-CoV-2 due to dental interventions, leading to a state of alert and potential risk of negative impact in mental health and sleep quality, associated with Temporomandibular Disorder (TMD) and bruxism. Objective: to evaluate the psychosocial status, sleep quality, symptoms of TMD, and bruxism in Brazilian dentists (DSs) during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methodology: The sample (n=641 DSs) was divided into three groups (quarantined DSs; DSs in outpatient care; and frontline professionals), which answered an electronic form containing the TMD Pain Screening Questionnaire (Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders – DC/TMD), the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), the Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS-21), and the sleep and awake bruxism questionnaire. ANOVA test and Mann Whitney post-test were used, with Bonferroni adjustment (p<0.016) and a 95% confidence level. Results: Probable TMD was found in 24.3% (n=156) of the participants, while possible sleep and awake bruxism were diagnosed in 58% (n=372) and 53.8% (n=345) of them, respectively. Among all variables evaluated, only symptoms of depression were significantly greater in the quarantined DSs group when compared to those who were working at the clinical care (p=0.002). Working DSs were significantly less likely (OR=0.630, p=0.001) to have depressive symptoms. Those who were not worried or less worried about the pandemic were less likely to experience stress (OR=0.360), anxiety (OR=0.255), and poor sleep quality (OR=0.256). Sleep had a strong positive and moderate correlation with psychological factors on frontline workers and DSs in outpatient care, respectively. Conclusion: The results suggest confinement may have a more negative impact on the life of DSs than the act of being actively working. The concern about Covid-19 and poor sleep quality was significantly prevalent and may negatively affect the quality of life of DSs. Thus, further research on the topic is needed

Serviço social na contemporaneidade: a importância da dimensão educativa no trabalho do assistente social / Contemporary social service: the importance of the educational dimension in social workers' work

O trabalho do assistente social demonstrou nos últimos 80 anos sua importância na nação brasileira, pois ao transformar-se em uma profissão eminentemente interventiva e assumir o compromisso com a classe trabalhadora tem contribuído nos inúmeros avanços junto à luta de classes. A resistência para a ampliação do estado democrático de direito, como também na implementação de políticas públicas, tem evidenciado que o seu papel eminentemente educativo vem auxiliando no fortalecimento das bases a partir do processo de politização. Considerando ainda o contexto sociopolítico que se vivencia, de ofensiva neoliberal, contexto este golpista, de afronta ao estado democrático de direito e “anti-direitos-sociais”, observa-se o quão necessária é o fortalecimento desta concepção, enquanto parte fundamental para o enfrentamento das expressões da questão social. Tendo como objeto deste estudo bibliográfico a dimensão educativa no trabalho profissional do assistente social, a partir do materialismo histórico dialético, tendo enquanto categorias de análise: Trabalho, Dimensão Educativa e Serviço Social Brasileiro

Sistema de Gestão e Aplicação de Avaliações SIGAA

O objetivo deste projeto é apresentar o desenvolvimento do Sistema de Gestão de Avaliações a ser utilizado na Faculdade UNICEUB. Trata-se de uma solução projetada para a automatização da geração e aplicação de avaliações e possibilitará a análise dos resultados destas avaliações, podendo ser analisados os resultados do desempenho de um aluno ou turma sobre uma avaliação aplicada ou um assunto específico desta avaliação, servindo também como uma ferramenta de medição do conhecimento obtido

Utilização da Soft System Methodology na gestão de inadimplência de uma empresa de Serviços

Non-payment is a current problem in society, especially during economic downturns. Dealing with this situation can be complicated for companies because of the risk of losing customers to the competition or not being able to obtain adequate revenues in the market. The objective of this study is to propose managerial solutions to the issue of default in a service company using the SSM methodology, Soft System Methodology. According to Cezarino (2013), SSM is a systemic analysis technique that is suitable for its characteristic of overview and abstraction in the search for relevant aspects, in the most diverse sources, in a problem situation, orchestrating conflicts and promoting consensus through seven steps suggested by Checkland (1990). In terms of methodological procedure the study was descriptive with a qualitative approach. The main results show that the actions to be implemented are the creation of a dashboard to monitor the execution and effectiveness of collections and the creation of a loyalty program to encourage customers to pay on time. The recursive nature of the methodology was also highlighted, since the company under study recognized the need to repeat the application of the methodology annually in the collection processe

O processo de aquisição de linguagem: três explicações possíveis

Este trabalho tem por objetivo fazer um apanhado de como ocorre a aquisição de linguagem e explicar quais as possíveis diferenças que acontecem nesse processo por meio de visões distintas da Linguística. O objetivo central, portanto, é responder a seguinte questão: Como as crianças começam a falar? Para responder a este questionamento, realizamos uma pesquisa de cunho bibliográfico, através de três correntes teóricas que buscaram dar possíveis explicações para esses questionamentos, a saber: o Behaviorismo de Skinner (1957), com a hipótese comportamentalista; o Gerativismo de Chomsky (1959), com a hipótese inatista; e a hipótese interacionista proposta por Vygotsky (1978). Ao fim, traçamos uma comparação entre essas correntes teóricas a fim elucidar quais as principais diferenças admitidas entre as três perspectivas teóricas e quais as contribuições teóricas de cada uma delas para o campo de investigação da aquisição da linguage

Cutaneous reactions due to the use of epidermal growth factor receptor inhibitors: two case reports

An increase in the expression of epidermal growth factor receptors (EGFR) is involved in the stimulation of tumor development. EGFR inhibitors have shown efficacy in the treatment of neoplasms of the head, neck, colon and lung. EGFR when inhibited can cause cutaneous reactions in more than 50% of the patients. They are usually reversible, but when severe, limit the use of the drug. Papulopustulars lesions in the face and upper torso are the most common, as well as xerosis, hair and nail changes. There is a direct relationship between the degree of cutaneous toxicity and the antitumoral response. An adequate dermatologic approach is necessary for an effective therapy against cancer.O aumento da expressão de receptores do fator de crescimento epidérmico (EGFR) está envolvido no estímulo ao crescimento tumoral. Seus inibidores demonstraram eficácia no tratamento de neoplasias de cabeça e pescoço, cólon e pulmão.A inibição do EGFR pode determinar reações cutâneas em mais de 50% dos pacientes. Main Approaches to the Causes and Treatments of Periimplantitis: A Narrative Review
