Effect of thermal shock and ruminal incubation on seed germination in Helianthemum apenninum (L.) Mill. (Cistaceae). Here, we analyse the effect of different treatments on seed germination in Helianthemum apenninum (L.) Mill. (Cistaceae), considering scarification with sandpaper, thermal shock simulating the heat from fire, and incubation in the rumen of sheep and goat simulating passage through the gut of ruminants. Mechanical scarification boosted the germination (95% vs. 6% of control treatment), indicating that the seeds have a potentially high germination rate if the coat is eroded. Thermal shock did not improve germination. Incubation in rumen increased seed germination, up to a 32% after 48h in ruminal liquid versus 12% for control seeds in the case of sheep. The results suggest that germination in H. apenninum, while not enhanced by heat from fires, may be enhanced by herbivore ingestion

Synthesis and characterization of o-fluorosulfinylaniline: A comparative vibrational study of fluorinated sulfinylaniline series

The synthesis of o-fluorosulfinylaniline is reported with the aim to complete the fluorinated sulfinylaniline series. The FT-IR and Raman spectra of o-fluorosulfinylaniline are recorded and the fundamental modes of its vibrational frequencies are assigned together with a tentative assignment of the NMR and mass spectra. Quantum chemical calculations on the optimized geometry predict in the liquid phase a planar structure with syn orientation of the –N[double bond, length as m-dash]S[double bond, length as m-dash]O moiety (syn of the S[double bond, length as m-dash]O double bond relative to the C–N single bond), which belongs to the CS symmetry group. The experimentally observed spectral data (FT-IR, Raman, 1H and 13C and GC-mass spectrometry) of the title compound are compared with those obtained theoretically from DFT calculations and the gauge including atomic orbital (GIAO) method. Vibrational frequencies were assigned with the aid of anharmonic variational methods (VSCF) obtaining a significantly better agreement with experiment than with simple harmonic oscillator methods. Moreover, stability of the molecule arising from hyperconjugative interactions and charge delocalization has been analyzed using natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis.Fil: Paez Jerez, Ana Laura. El plan contable diseñado por Francisco Ibáñez Puche para el Colegio Mayor Santa Cruz de la Universidad de Valladolid (1957-1981)

Restoration in 1942, the Colegio Mayor de Santa Cruz had been a pioneer in enforcing the existing regulations and in writing down its statutes according to them. Regarding to the economic acounting management, its regulation was not very extensive in the different statutes, it focused on topics related to the control such as the elaboration of budgets, accountability balance and the subordination of its accounting to the university.This lack of regulation is in contrast with the characteristics of its accounting system since 1957, when Francisco Ibañez Puche took responsibility of the administration of the colegio and designed a plan that increased the quantity and quality of the economic and financial information and divided the administrative organization in three aspects: in the first place, the administration system, paying attention to the problems related to food supplies, staff and the general services of the colegio; in the second place, the double-entry bookkeeping system, using a diario-mayor book, and formed by a reduced number of accounts, which allowed him to elaborate an advanced accountability, coming ahead of the legal regulations; and in the third place, the economic system, highlighting the need for increasing incomes, reducing the delay in the collection of subsidies and grants and the three-month elaboration of the budgets and accounting considering the uncertainty of the prices.Desde su restauración en 1942, el Colegio Mayor Santa Cruz fue pionero en aplicar la normativa vigente y redactar unos estatutos acordes a la misma. Respecto a la gestión económico-contable, su regulación no fue extensa en los diferentes estatutos, centrándose en temas relacionados con el control como la elaboración de presupuestos, rendición de cuentas y subordinación de su contabilidad a la universidad.Esta falta de regulación contrasta con las características de su sistema contable a partir de 1957, cuando Francisco Ibáñez Puche se hizo cargo de la administración del colegio y diseñó un plan que incrementó la cantidad y calidad de la información económico-financiera y dividió la organización administrativa en tres aspectos: en primer lugar, el régimen de administración prestando atención a los problemas relacionados con la alimentación, el personal y los servicios generales del colegio; en segundo lugar, el sistema contable por partida doble, empleando un libro diario-mayor y formado por un reducido número de cuentas, que permitió elaborar una contabilidad avanzada, adelantándose a las disposiciones legales; y en tercer lugar, el régimen económico resaltando la necesidad de aumentar los ingresos, reducir el retraso en el cobro de las subvenciones y becas y la elaboración trimestral de los presupuestos y cuentas ante la inseguridad de los precios
