Taxonomic changes in the genus Diabrotica Chevrolat (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae: Galerucinae): results of a synopsis of North and Central America Diabrotica species
The following new synonyms in Diabrotica Chevrolat 1836 are proposed: D. flaviventris Jacoby 1887 and D. tibialis Jacoby 1887 are synonyms of D. adelpha Harold 1875; D. peckii Bowditch 1911 is a synonym of D. bioculata Bowditch 1911; D. nummularis Harold 1877 is a synonym of D. circulata Harold 1875; D. linensis BechynĂŠ 1956 is a synonym of D. trifurcata Jacoby 1887; D. brunneosignata Jacoby 1887 is a synonym of D. sinuata Olivier 1790; D. duplicata Jacoby 1887 is a synonym of D. viridifasciata Jacoby 1887. Diabrotica cyaneomaculata Jacoby 1887 does not share the synapo- morphies of Diabrotica and is treated as incertae sedis. Diabrotica tripunctata (Fabricius) is removed from synonymy with D. sinuata Olivier and is considered to be a valid species. The original combination is restored for Diabrotica fasciata Kirsch, the species being transferred from Paranapiacaba BechynĂŠ back to Diabrotica. It was found that the type series of D. godmani Jacoby contains seven different taxa: one is D. godmani itself; one is D. championi Jacoby; one is D. quad- ricollis Jacoby; three are unidentified Diabrotica species, each different from the others; and one is not a Diabrotica. The type series of D. viridicollis Jacoby contains four different taxa, D. viridicollis Jacoby itself and three different unidentified Diabrotica species
Mechanical Response Change in Fine Grain Concrete Under High Strain and Stress Rates
International audienceExperimental results on assessing the effects of strain and stress rates on the behavior of fine-grain concretes are presented. Specimens of fine-grain and fiberreinforced concretes were dynamically tested using the Kolsky method and its modification, the âBrazilian testâ. As a result of the experiments, values of the Dynamic Increase Factor (DIF) were determined for both the materials studied. Their curves as a function of strain and stress rates were constructed. The experimental data is compared with the theoretically obtained values of DIF as a function of strain rate available in the literatur
Impact of climate change on the ground thermal regime in the lower Lena region, Arctic central Siberia
This paper presents the results of 30 years of permafrost thermal monitoring in the Tiksi area in the eastern Russian Arctic. At a stone ridge site, the mean annual temperatures in the upper 30 m of the ground have increased by 1â2.4 C compared to the first years of observations, with trends of C/yr. At the same time, its change was uneven. In the last 20 years, the rate of increase has increased compared with the first decade of observations. At wet tundra sites in the foothill plain, the mean annual temperatures at the top of permafrost have increased by 2.4â2.6 C between 2005 and 2022 at rates of 0.11â0.15 C/yr, and the active layer thicknesses have increased at rates of 0.05â0.41 cm/yr
Selection of Single Top Events with the CMS Detector at LHC
The detection of single-top events with CMS is discussed. Two selections are proposed, aimed to measure single top production in the Standard Model t- and s-channel, respectively. The perspectives of the measurements for an integrated luminosity of 10 fb-1 are described. The results are based on detailed detector simulations, either based on GEANT4, or on faster techniques. The reconstruction procedures developed by the CMS Collaboration are utilized

Search for the standard model Higgs boson in the H to ZZ to 2l 2nu channel in pp collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV
A search for the standard model Higgs boson in the H to ZZ to 2l 2nu decay
channel, where l = e or mu, in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 7
TeV is presented. The data were collected at the LHC, with the CMS detector,
and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 4.6 inverse femtobarns. No
significant excess is observed above the background expectation, and upper
limits are set on the Higgs boson production cross section. The presence of the
standard model Higgs boson with a mass in the 270-440 GeV range is excluded at
95% confidence level.Comment: Submitted to JHE
