Robust output feedback MPC for LPV systems using interval observers

    Get PDF
This work addresses the problem of robust output feedback model predictive control for discrete-time, constrained, linear parameter-varying systems subject to (bounded) state and measurement disturbances. The vector of scheduling parameters is assumed to be an unmeasurable signal taking values in a given compact set. The proposed controller incorporates an interval observer, that uses the available measurement to update the setmembership estimation of the states, and an interval predictor, used in the prediction step of the MPC algorithm. The resulting MPC scheme offers guarantees on recursive feasibility, constraint satisfaction, and input-to-state stability in the terminal set. Furthermore, this novel algorithm shows low computation complexity and ease of implementation (similar to conventional MPC schemes)

Robust Output Feedback MPC: An Interval-Observer Approach

    Get PDF
International audienceIn this work, we address the problem of output-feedback Model Predictive Control (MPC) of constrained, linear, discrete-time systems corrupted by additive perturbations on both state and output. The use of estimated variables in MPC is challenging and computationally expensive due to constraint satisfaction. To overcome this issue, the proposed approach incorporates interval observers on the MPC scheme to cope with uncertainty, leading to a novel, simple and very intuitive methodology providing robust constraint satisfaction with reduced computational complexity

International audienceThis work addresses the problem of robust stabilizationof the concentration of two different species competingfor a single limiting substrate. This stabilization is performedby means of discontinuous feedback control laws that ensurecoexistence of all species. The control laws are designed consideringbounded uncertainties on the kinetic rates

Observer-based gust load alleviation via reduced-order models

    Get PDF
In this paper, we investigate the design of linear active output feedback control for aircraft gust load alleviation, involving standard sensors and control surfaces. The control architecture is composed of (i) a robust observer, allowing for estimating some wing bending moments despite the wind perturbation, and (ii) a structured H∞-norm oriented control law exploiting this additional information. To cope with the complexity of the aeroelastic model and make the control and observer synthesis computationally tractable, a model reduction step, based on Petrov-Galerkin projections, is first applied. One specificity of this work is that the obtained projector is exploited in the observer design, linking the reduction and the estimation. The effectiveness of the methodology is illustrated through numerical simulation involving an open access high complexity aeroelastic model. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ifacol.2022.09.31

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the moderator effect of socioeconomic status in the association between the perceived environment and active commuting to school. METHODS: A total of 495 adolescents and their parents were interviewed. Perceived environment was operationalized in traffic and crime safety and assessed with the Neighborhood Environment Walkability Scale. Active commuting was self-reported by the adolescents, categorized in walking, bicycling or skating at least one time/week. Socioeconomic status was used as moderator effect, reported from adolescents’ parents or guardians using Brazilian standardized socioeconomic status classification. Analyses were performed with Poisson regression on Stata 12.0. RESULTS: Prevalence of active commuting was 63%. Adolescents with low socioeconomic status who reported “it is easy to observe pedestrians and cyclists” were more likely to actively commute to school (PR = 1.18, 95%CI 1.03–1.13). Adolescents with low socioeconomic status whose parents or legal guardians reported positively to “being safe crossing the streets” had increased probability of active commuting to school (PR = 1.10, 95%CI 1.01–1.20), as well as those with high socioeconomic status with “perception of crime” were positively associated to the outcome (PR = 1.33, 95%CI 1.03–1.72). CONCLUSIONS: Socioeconomic status showed moderating effects in the association between the perceived environment and active commuting to school

Although widely consumed as white rice, there are special rice cultivars that contain aromas, colors and nutrients that reach special market niches, and constitute alternatives to vary the Brazilian menu and the farmer’s income. Most genotypes of special rice have nutritional characteristics superior to those of white rice, with call for better health, which is a growing concern of the general population. Based Based on these assumptions, the objective was to evaluate the productivity of special rice genotypes in rainfed cultivation conditions, in two seasons (2016/2017 and 2017/2018), in the city of Lavras/MG The treatments consisted of the following accessions: YIN LU 31, Japanese, CMG 1164, Formoso, Aromatic, IAC 400, IAC 300, IAC 600, IAC 500, BRSMG Relâmpago, BRSMG Caçula, BRSMG Caravera, SCS119 Ruby, SCS120 Onyx. After analysis of variance, the adaptability analysis and stability was performed by the Annichiaric method. The Aromatic and IAC 300 genotypes, by evaluated under rainfed conditions, showed high productivity (greater than 3,000 kg.ha-1), higher than the state average (867 kg ha-1), and low incidence of diseases in the conditions of high lands. These special rice genotypes grown in upland and compared to cultivars of rice indicated for this cultivation condition demonstrated that it is possible to produce rice from quality and develop genotypes more adaptable to rainfed conditions, which can be excellent option of cultivation to conventional rice and thus increase the diversity of the agricultural property

An inflammatory process has been involved in numerous neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinson's disease, stroke and Alzheimer's disease (AD). In AD, the inflammatory response is mainly located in the vicinity of amyloid plaques. Cytokines, such as interleukin-8 (IL-8) and interleukin-1α (IL-1α), have been clearly involved in this inflammatory process. Polymorphisms of several interleukin genes have been correlated to the risk of developing AD. The present study investigated the association of AD with polymorphisms IL-8 -251T > A (rs4073) and IL-1α-889C > T (rs1800587) and the interactive effect of both, adjusted by the Apolipoprotein E genotype. 199 blood samples from patients with AD, 146 healthy elderly controls and 95 healthy young controls were obtained. DNA samples were isolated from blood cells, and the PCR-RFLP method was used for genotyping. The genotype distributions of polymorphisms IL-8, IL-1α and APOE were as expected under Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium. The allele frequencies did not differ significantly among the three groups tested. As expected, the APOE4 allele was strongly associated with AD (p A and IL-1α-889C > T were not found to be risk factors for AD
