Adolescents without adolescence: reflections on adolescents’formation of subjectivity and their families in a neoliberal context

This study seeks to determine how certain social situations cannot help but influence subjectivity and family ties. The Keynesian age encouraged and promoted a relatively stable socioeconomic matrix based on a probable future and achievable promise. The installation of a family model related to protective parents who were capable of caring for and protecting their children has been observed. Adolescent subjectivity is constructed based on parameters like generational confrontation and growth, and happiness before the possibility of exercising autonomy. On the other hand, neoliberalism produces a “retraction” of social spaces, dismisses the future, and feelings of instability and insecurity are prevalent, making the family model a “structure that overwhelms parents.” Adolescent subjectivity seems incapable of executing generational confrontation, predominantly showing a desire to “protect” the family (“exacerbated messiah complex”) by means of a fantasy that acts as a “threading scene” capable of annulling the search for autonomy and growth.Este trabajo busca puntualizar cómo determinadas situaciones sociales no pueden dejar de incidir en la subjetividad y los vínculos familiares. La modernidad keynesiana alentaba y proponía una matriz socioeconómica que era relativamente estable, con instauración de un porvenir probable y declaración de una promesa alcanzable. Se puede observar la instauración de un modelo familiar relacionable a la experiencia de padres amparadores, capaces de cuidar y proteger. Desde allí la subjetividad adolescente se construye desde parámetros como los de confrontación generacional, crecimiento y júbilo ante la posibilidad de ejercer autonomía. Por el contrario el neoliberalismo genera una “retracción” de espacios sociales, destitución del porvenir y predominio de sensaciones de inestabilidad e inseguridad que facilita la instauración de un modelo familiar que denomino “estructura de padres agobiados”. La subjetividad adolescente aparece incapaz de ejercer confrontación generacional, predominando el deseo de “proteger” a la familia (“mesianismo exacerbado”) a través de una fantasmática que actúa como “escena de enhebramiento” capaz de anular la búsqueda de autonomía y crecimiento

Appendiceal Endometriosis Presenting As Chronic Appendicitis: A Case Report.

The origin of endometriosis has multiple theories, with controversy over which may demonstrate the prominent pathophysiology. The most common extra-pelvic organ system affected by endometriosis is the gastrointestinal tract. Gastrointestinal endometriosis (GE) accounts for 3 to 37% of all endometriosis cases, and appendiceal endometriosis is present in around 3% of GE cases, therefore constituting less than 1% of all endometriosis cases. In this report, we present a 24-year-old female with a past medical history significant for endometriosis status post two excisional laparoscopies who presented with eight months\u27 duration of right lower quadrant pain, constant and stabbing, with rebound tenderness. Appendectomy and histopathology demonstrated focal endometriosis, diffuse serosal fibrovascular adhesions involving the appendiceal serosa/subserosa, as well as a dilated lumen filled with hemorrhagic content. When the appendix is not considered in endometriosis pathology, patients are at increased risk for unresolved pain and further laparoscopic procedures. Prophylactic appendectomy appears to be a worthwhile consideration in patients with chronic pelvic pain, given the high frequency of appendiceal pathology

Neoliberalismo y catástrofe inminente: una díada preocupante

Este trabajo busca contribuir a la comprensión de la violencia contemporánea, tomando como eje los procesos sociales, culturales y económicos que propicia el neoliberalismo, especialmente acentuados en Latinoamérica. Se insiste en describir procesos que no se toman como “accidentes pasajeros” sino que participan de efectos estructurales,que se consolidan desde el desmantelamiento del pacto social, la fi gura de la ley, la indigencia generalizada y la anulación de la fi gura del “vecino”, dando paso a estructuras como la de “catástrofe inminente”, la paranoia, el enemigo, u otras.This work seeks to contribute to the understanding of contemporary violence, taking as analytical axes the social, cultural and economic processes favored by neoliberalism, and especially accentuated in Latin America. It insists on describing processes not as “transient accidents”, but rather as parts of structural eff ects that have been consolidated since the dismantling of the social pact, the figure of the law, the widespread indigence and the dissolution of the “neighbor” figure, giving way to structures such as “imminent catastrophe”, paranoia, the enemy, or others

Peter Blos' conception of adolescence: the arduous task of being an adolescent

Esta contribución hace referencia a las ideas principales de Peter Blos sobre los adolescentes en términos de individuación, segunda oportunidad, complejo de Edipo y narcisismo. También se propone una discusión sobre cómo el contexto social ha permitido este acercamiento al adolescente. Por lo tanto, es necesario entender qué sucede si este modelo social tradicional es rechazado o cuestionado. Finalmente, se desarrollan algunas indicaciones del autor sobre psicoterapia con adolescentes.Esta contribuição se refere às principais idéias de Peter Blos sobre adolescentes em termos de individuação, segunda chance, complexo de Édipo e narcisismo. Também propõe uma discussão sobre como o contexto social tem permitido esta abordagem para o adolescente. Portanto, é necessário entender o que acontece se este modelo social tradicional for rejeitado ou questionado. Finalmente, algumas indicações do autor sobre psicoterapia com adolescentes são desenvolvidas.This contribution refers to Peter Blos' main ideas about adolescents in terms of individuation, second chance, Oedipus complex and narcissism. It also proposes a discussion on how the social context has allowed this approach to the adolescent. Therefore, it is necessary to understand what happens if this traditional social model is rejected or questioned. The resilient memory and the cryptographic amnesia: the case of impoverished Latin-American youth

Resumen ¿Cómo es posible que se ejerza tal grado de violencia social sobre jóvenes, existiendo al mismo tiempo desempleo estructural y preocupantes tasas de deserción estudiantil? ¿Y cómo inciden estos factores en la construcción del tejido social? Este trabajo intenta responder a algunas de estas interrogantes. Se introduce el concepto de memoria criptográfica para dar a entender el proceso de resquebrajamiento del contrato social tradicional que otorgaba un lugar sustancial a los jóvenes como parte de la memoria y la transmisión generacional. Se opone al mismo el concepto de memoria resiliente por el que se reinstauran imaginarios fraternales esenciales a lo social y que la violencia neoliberal y el terrorismo de Estado intentan debilitar o anular.How is it possible such degree that social violence is exerted on young people, existing at the same time structural unemployment and worrying dropout rates? Moreover, how these factors affect the construction of the social network? This paper attempts to answer some of these questions. The concept of cryptographic memory is introduced to understand the process of breaking of the traditional social contract that gave substantial place to young people as part of the memory and the generational transmission. It is opposite to the concept of resilient memory that establishes fraternal imaginary, essential to the social, and that neoliberal violence and the State terrorism try to weaken or nullify

Neoliberalismo-Neoevangelismo-Cambios socio-demográficos: Posibles marcos epistemológicos frente a algunos desafíos actuales en el campo de las ciencias sociales (los paradigmas ambiguos)

Este trabajo busca desarrollar algunas interrogantes en torno a los desafíos que plantean el neoliberalismo, el neoevangelismo y los cambios socio-demográficos actuales, en tanto introducen realidades inéditas delante de las cuales se propone la hipótesis de que no siempre disponemos de las herramientas conceptuales y metodológicas apropiadas.Se indica la necesidad de abrir un debate en torno a estas nuevas realidades sociales, culturales y epistemológicas tratando de comprender mejor el significado de los tres procesos indicados. Se enuncia la hipótesis de que estamos así frente a realidades que �rompen� con determinados modelos de pensamiento tradicionales en ciencias sociales, aunque se siguen utilizando marcos epistemológicos y conceptuales quizás ya inapropiados para el adecuado estudio de los procesos referidos.De allí que se introduce el concepto de paradigmas ambiguos como marco epistemológico tentativo.The aim of this paper is to develop certain questions related to the challenges posed by Neoliberalism, Neoevangelism and current sociodemographical changes, which bring about new realities for which, our hypothesis claims, we do not always have suitable conceptual and methodological tools.It is our contention that it is necessary to open a debate around these new social, cultural and epistemological circumstances in order to understand the meaning of the three aforementioned processes better.Our hypothesis is that we are dealing with realities that �break away� from certain traditional currents of thought in the social sciences, even though we still continue to employ epistemological and conceptual frameworks which are by now perhaps inappropriate for the correct study of the processes we have referred to. From there, we introduce the concept of the ambiguous paradigm as a tentative epistemological framework

LOS NUEVOS MODELOS SOCIALES E IDENTITARIOS DE LOS ADULTOS MAYORES PROFUNDIZANDO EL CONCEPTO DE VEJEZ EXITOSA

Cada vez surge más evidencia en la literatura especializada que indica que la figura del adulto mayor como decrépito e inactivo comienza a ser substituida por la figura de un adulto mayor saludable y capaz de emprender nuevos proyectos de vida. El objetivo de la revisión integradora bibliográfica que se propone es analizar en las evidencias disponibles en la literatura, algunas delas implicaciones psicosociales, confrontacionales y familiares en lo que se denomina “envejecimiento de éxito” o “successful aging”. Para la selección delos artículos fueron consultadas las bases de datos electrónicos Google Scholar, Crossref, Medline, ISI. Fueron seleccionados trece estudios para la realización de la revisión sistemática utilizando el descriptor “successful aging” y “envejecimiento activo” y a partir de los mismos se profundizó interdisciplinariamente el descriptor utilizado utilizando conceptos psico-sociales y vinculares. En las conclusiones se indica que existe suficiente evidencia proveniente del campo interdisciplinario de la gerontología para poder indicar que nuevos procesos de envejecimiento se van imponiendo en las generaciones actuales de adultos mayores.

Adolescentes, aprendizagem, e processo de deserçao: Do descoramento impossível para rescoramento nostálgico

This work is an essay that seeks to make a balance of the state of problems regarding drop-out processes, next to family, academic, personal and social factors. We expose the possible presence of other factors that have not been taken fully into account, as the process of becoming a "student" with factor of underpinning and not- underpinning of previous university educational structures like the high school.Este trabajo es un ensayo que busca hacer un balance del estado de la cuestión referente a los procesos de deserción estudiantil junto a variables familiares, académicas, personales y sociales. Se expone también la posible presencia de otros factores que no han sido tomados totalmente en cuenta, como el proceso de convertirse en “estudiante” junto con factores de apuntalamiento y desapuntalamiento de estructuras educativas medias, previas a las de tipo terciario universitario.Este trabalho é um ensaio que pretende fazer um balanço da situação dos processos com variáveis de abandono familiar, acadêmico, pessoal e social. Ele também descreve a possível presença de outros fatores que não foram devidamente tidos em conta, como o processo de se tornar um "estudante" com os fatores que sustentam desapuntalamiento estruturas educacionais e significa, antes de o tipo universitário terciário

COVID-19: Elderly People Between the Gerontological “Revolution" and the Gerontological “Expiation”

The present paper raises certain dilemmas, debates and questions regarding attitudes and definitions that are being taken in relation with elderly people in the days of COVID-19. It is considered that the emancipatory and citizen achievements of ageing are being lost, arising processes of expiation that make them responsible for death and the anxiety that it awakens. The containment measures to which they are subjected have more to do with ambivalent processes, than with the fact that they are really the risk group par excellence.It is noted that these processes are occurring without being noticed, without being able to think or say. They take away citizenship from old people, make them precarious and older, without responsiveness. It is described as a movement from gerontological "revolution" to gerontological "expiation". It is related to the impossibility of providing integrative responses to situations that, however, require immediate responses to avoid reaching extreme situations of social and tanatopolitical crisis
