The consolidation of TikTok as a platform aimed at mere entertainment has not limited the informative efforts of professionals from very different fields who have found an opportunity to share rigorous, useful and demystifying knowledge on this social network (Guiñez-Cabrera, & Mansilla-Obando, 2022; Yalamanchili et al., 2022). Through a methodology based on content analysis, the publications and reactions of the main pharmaceutical-themed profiles on TikTok are examined, delving into the communication resources, interaction strategies and topics with which they connect with their audience. The results reveal that, unlike other digital spaces, which are more prone to tension and confrontation, pharmaceutical influencers can openly expose their experience and professional opinion, and also demonstrate their mastery of the technical resources offered by TikTok to create informative videos about health. The use of a close language and away from technicalities, added to a natural tone and with a certain dose of humour, represent its hallmarks and the key to its good reception by an audience that responds (79,696 comments analysed) assertively, raising doubts, recounting their own experiences and, above all, expressing support for the theses defended by the professional. Faced with a topic of general interest such as health, every effort to use the communication tools and codes of the young population contributes to integrating them into the new dissemination channels.Este artículo se enmarca dentro de las dinámicas de trabajo del Laboratorio de Educación en Redes Sociales (Social Media Education Lab) del Campus María Zambrano de Segovia (Universidad de Valladolid). An agent-based framework for selection of partners in dynamic virtual enterprises

    Get PDF
Advances in computer networking technology and open system standards have made practically feasible to create and manage virtual enterprises. A virtual enterprise, VE, is usually defined as a temporary alliance of enterprises that come together to share their skills, core competencies, and resources in order to better respond to business opportunities, and whose cooperation is supported by computer networks. The materialization of this paradigm, although enabled by recent advances in communication technologies, computer networks and logistics, requires an appropriate architectural framework and support tools. In this paper we propose an agent-based model of a dynamic VE to support the different selection processes that are used in selecting the partners for a dynamic VE, where the partners of a VE are represented by agents. Such a framework will form the basis for tools that provide automated support for creation, and operation, of dynamic virtual enterprises

Soil moisture content determines the effectiveness of the urease inhibitor NBPT on N2O emissions

Among the mitigation strategies to prevent nitrogen (N) losses from ureic fertilizers, urease inhibitors (UIs) have been demonstrated to promote high N use efficiency by reducing ammonia (NH3) volatilization. In the last few years, some field experiments have also shown its effectiveness in reducing nitrous oxide (N2O) losses from fertilized soils under conditions of low soil moisture. An incubation experiment was carried out with the aim of assessing the main biotic mechanisms behind N2O emissions once that the UIs N-(n-butyl) thiophosphoric triamid (NBPT) and phenil phosphorodiamidate (PPDA) were applied with Urea (U) under different soil moisture conditions (40, 60 and 80 % water-filled pore space, WFPS). In the same study we tried to analyze to what extent soil WFPS regulates the effect of these inhibitors on N2O emissions. The use of PPDA in our study allowed us to compare the effect of NBPT with that of another commercially available urease inhibitor, aiming to see if the results were inhibitor-specific or not. Based on the results from this experiment, a WFPS (i.e. 60 %) was chosen for a second study (i.e. mesocosm experiment) aiming to assess the efficiency of the UIs to indirectly affect N2O emissions through influencing the pool of soil mineral N. The N2O emissions at 40 % WFPS were almost negligible, being significantly lower from all fertilized treatments than that produced at 60 and 80 % WFPS. When compared to U alone, NBPT+U reduced the N2O emissions at 60 % WFPS but had no effect at 80 % WFPS. The application of PPDA significantly increased the emissions with respect to U at 80 % WFPS whereas no significant effect was found at 60 %. At 80 % WFPS, denitrification was the main source of N2O emissions for all treatments. In the mesocosm study, the application of NBPT+U was an effective strategy to reduce N2O emissions (75 % reduction compared to U alone), due to a lower soil ammonium (NH4 +) content induced by the inhibitor. These results suggest that adequate management of the UI NBPT could provide, under certain soil conditions, an opportunity for mitigation of N2O emissions from fertilized soils

Effect of Organic Amendment Addition on Soil Properties, Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Grape Yield in Semi-Arid Vineyard Agroecosystems

In semi-arid vineyard agroecosystems, highly vulnerable in the context of climate change, the soil organic matter (OM) content is crucial to the improvement of soil fertility and grape productivity. The impact of OM, from compost and animal manure, on soil properties (e.g., pH, oxidisable organic C, organic N, NH4+-N and NO3−-N), grape yield and direct greenhouse gas (GHG) emission in vineyards was assessed. For this purpose, two wine grape varieties were chosen and managed differently: with a rain-fed non-trellising vineyard of Monastrell, a drip-irrigated trellising vineyard of Monastrell and a drip-irrigated trellising vineyard of Cabernet Sauvignon. The studied fertiliser treatments were without organic amendments (C), sheep/goat manure (SGM) and distillery organic waste compost (DC). The SGM and DC treatments were applied at a rate of 4600 kg ha−1 (fresh weight, FW) and 5000 kg ha−1 FW, respectively. The use of organic amendments improved soil fertility and grape yield, especially in the drip-irrigated trellising vineyards. Increased CO2 emissions were coincident with higher grape yields and manure application (maximum CO2 emissions = 1518 mg C-CO2 m−2 d−1). In contrast, N2O emissions, mainly produced through nitrification, were decreased in the plots showing higher grape production (minimum N2O emissions = −0.090 mg N2O-N m−2 d−1). In all plots, the CH4 fluxes were negative during most of the experiment (−1.073−0.403 mg CH4-C m−2 d−1), indicating that these ecosystems can represent a significant sink for atmospheric CH4. According to our results, the optimal vineyard management, considering soil properties, yield and GHG mitigation together, was the use of compost in a drip-irrigated trellising vineyard with the grape variety Monastrel

Tuned Pd/SiO 2 aerogel catalyst prepared by different synthesis techniques

    Get PDF
Pd nanoparticles have been embedded on silica aerogel by using three different techniques. In each of them the metal was loaded in the matrix at different steps of the production: the direct synthesis, the wet impregnation and the supercritical impregnation of the previously dried aerogels. The resultant materials have been characterized to analyze the differences depending on the applied technique for its impregnation. Atomic absorption, nitrogen physisorption, X-ray diffraction, infrared spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy where performed. In all the techniques the concentration of metal has been varied (from 0.13 to 1.61 % wt.) by modifying the concentration of the suspension (Pd-polyvinylpyrrolidone nanoparticles used in the direct synthesis) or of the solution of the metallic precursor (palladium acetylacetonate), both in the organic solvent and the supercritical media. The characterization had generally shown a good distribution of the metallic particles in the matrix, and the negligible effect of the metal on the textural properties. Finally, considerable variations where observed on the silanol groups on the surface of the catalysts. These materials were tested in D-glucose hydrogenation, observing significant differences on the performance of the catalyst depending on the synthesis technique employed.2018-06-06Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness project ENE2014-53459-
