    PEMBELAJARAN SEJARAH BERBASIS MULTIKULTURAL UNTUK EDUKASI PERDAMAIAN (STUDI KASUS DI UNIVERSITAS SAMUDRA, KOTA LANGSA)

    Masyarakat multikultur Aceh belum pada kondisi state of being peace akibat pergolakan masa lalu. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis multikulturalisme dan edukasi perdamaian dalam proses kegiatan pembelajaran sejarah. Pertanyaan penelitian adalah: (1) bagaimana persepsi dosen dan mahasiswa terhadap nilai-nilai multikulturalisme, (2) bagaimana perencanaan pembelajaran sejarah berbasis nilai multikultural sebagai edukasi perdamaian, (3) bagaimana evaluasi pembelajaran sejarah berbasis nilai multikultural sebagai edukasi perdamaian, (4) bagaimana pelaksanaan pembelajarannya (5) bagaimana evaluasinya, dan (6) Bagaimana hambatannya.Pendekatan penelitian ini adalah kualitatif, dengan desain embedded case study. Analisis data melalui dua paradigma, yakni: critical discourse analysis (CDA), dan interaktif. CDA berperan untuk menggali makna baik berasal dari teks pekerjaan dan makna yang diucapkan. Dengan landasan itu dapat diketahui pemikiran mereka.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: (1) Multikulturalisme dipandang dosen dan mahasiswa sebagai ideologi yang berpegang pada keberagaman etnisitas, etnoreligiusitas, dan etnokultural. (2) Sintak pembelajaran meliputi apersepsi, eksplorasi, elaborasi, konfirmasi, yang dalam proses kegiatan pembelajaran dibingkai dengan strategi ENACT (exploring, narrowing, analyzing, creating dan teaching). (3) Evaluasi meliputi aspek materi ajar dan penilaian diperoleh reratanya 4,58; penilaian sintak diperoleh reratanya 4,68; penilaian rencana pelaksanaan pembelajaran diperoleh reratanya 4,65; penilaian evaluasi pembelajaran diperoleh reratanya 4,53; (4) Dalam pelaksanaan exploring dituntut penggalian data historis; proses penyempitan data pada narrowing menghasilkan tema bahasan baru yang lebih spesifik; analyzing adalah menganalisis tema bahasan baru secara mendalam; creating menemukan temuan argumentatif dari tema bahasan baru yang diuraikan dalam kertas kerja mereka; dan teaching adalah kompetensi mengartikulasikan temuan-temuan dalam forum di kelas (5) Ketercapaian ENACT menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kompetensi kognitif dan afektif, terutama kompetensi melihat realitas historis masyarakat Aceh yang multicultural, serta pemahaman pentingnya perdamanaian, dan; (6) Hambatan pembelajaran ini adalah keterbatasan sumber primer, kesulitan dalam menyempitkan tema bahasan menjadi tema bahasan baru, misalnya: ada kesamaan tema, kesulitan analisis baik berkaitan dengan teks dan konteks. Hambatan ini dibuktikan dari kuantitas mahasiswa yang memenuhi ancangan CDA yaitu sejumlah 30 mahasiswa serta temuan mahasiswa sejumlah enam temua

    The bacterial composition within the Sarracenia purpurea model system: local scale differences and the relationship with the other members of the food web

    The leaves of the carnivorous pitcher plant, Sarracenia purpurea, contain a microscopic aquatic food web that is considered a model system in ecological research. The species identity of the intermediate and top trophic level of this food web, as well the detritivore midge, are highly similar across the native geographic range of S. purpurea and, in some cases, appear to have co-evolved with the plant. However, until recently, the identity, geographic variation, and diversity of the bacteria in the bottom trophic level of this food web have remained largely unknown. This study investigated bacterial community composition inside the leaves of S. purpurea to address: 1) variation in bacterial communities at the beginning of succession at the local scale in different areas of the plant’s native geographic range (southern and mid-regional sites) and 2) the impacts of bacterial consumers and other members of the aquatic food web (i.e., insects) on bacterial community structure. Communities from six leaves (one leaf per plant) from New York and Florida study sites were analyzed using 16S ribosomal RNA gene cloning. Each pitcher within each site had a distinct community; however, there was more overlap in bacterial composition within each site than when communities were compared across sites. In contrast, the identity of protozoans and metazoans in this community were similar in species identity both within a site and between the two sites, but abundances differed. Our results indicate that, at least during the beginning of succession, there is no strong selection for bacterial taxa and that there is no core group of bacteria required by the plant to start the decomposition of trapped insects. Co-evolution between the plant and bacteria appears to not have occurred as it has for other members of this community

    Gene Expression Correlates with Process Rates Quantified for Sulfate- and Fe(III)-Reducing Bacteria in U(VI)-Contaminated Sediments

    Though iron- and sulfate-reducing bacteria are well known for mediating uranium(VI) reduction in contaminated subsurface environments, quantifying the in situ activity of the microbial groups responsible remains a challenge. The objective of this study was to demonstrate the use of quantitative molecular tools that target mRNA transcripts of key genes related to Fe(III) and sulfate reduction pathways in order to monitor these processes during in situ U(VI) remediation in the subsurface. Expression of the Geobacteraceae-specific citrate synthase gene (gltA) and the dissimilatory (bi)sulfite reductase gene (dsrA), were correlated with the activity of iron- or sulfate-reducing microorganisms, respectively, under stimulated bioremediation conditions in microcosms of sediments sampled from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge Integrated Field Research Challenge (OR-IFRC) site at Oak Ridge, TN, USA. In addition, Geobacteraceae-specific gltA and dsrA transcript levels were determined in parallel with the predominant electron acceptors present in moderately and highly contaminated subsurface sediments from the OR-IFRC. Phylogenetic analysis of the cDNA generated from dsrA mRNA, sulfate-reducing bacteria-specific 16S rRNA, and gltA mRNA identified activity of specific microbial groups. Active sulfate reducers were members of the Desulfovibrio, Desulfobacterium, and Desulfotomaculum genera. Members of the subsurface Geobacter clade, closely related to uranium-reducing Geobacter uraniireducens and Geobacter daltonii, were the metabolically active iron-reducers in biostimulated microcosms and in situ core samples. Direct correlation of transcripts and process rates demonstrated evidence of competition between the functional guilds in subsurface sediments. We further showed that active populations of Fe(III)-reducing bacteria and sulfate-reducing bacteria are present in OR-IFRC sediments and are good potential targets for in situ bioremediation

    This research was an empirical study intended to analyze the influence of Working Ethics of Islam toward Organizational Commitment, and the influence of Organizational Culture, Organizational Commitment and Human Resource Competence toward Employees’ Performance. This research was conducted to the employees in 6 General Banks of Syariah in Indonesia (Makassar, Palembang, and Semarang). The research problems were answered by Empirical Research Model with 5 variables and 23 indicators for research hypotheses were formulated. The data were obtained by questionnaires that were directly distributed to the respondents and via post and contact person. 250 questionnaires were distributed and after editing process, 219 questionnaires were considered valid. The data were analyzed by Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with software LISREL v.8. 54. The result of hypotheses test based on Critical Ratio Value and Probability Value indicated that: the variable of Organizational Commitment was influenced significantly by the independent variable of Working Ethics of Islam with correlation value 0.27; the t-test value was 3.18. The variable of Employees’ Performance was not significantly influenced by the independent variable of Working Ethics of Islam with correlation value 0.09; the t-test value was 1.39. The variable of Employees’ Performance was significantly influenced by the independent variable of Organizational Culture with correlation value 0.36; the t-test value was 6.48. The variable of Employees’ Performance was significantly influenced by the independent variable of Human Resource Competence with correlation value 0.19; the t-test value was 3.29. The variable of Employees’ Performance was significantly influenced by the independent variable of Organizational Commitment with correlation value 0.63; the t-test value for this independent variable was higher than 1.96, namely 8.41.Abstrak Kerja Islam terhadap Komitmen Organisasi, dan juga menguji pengaruh Budaya Organisasi, Komitmen Organisasi  dan Kompetensi SDI terhadap Kinerja Karyawan, penelitian ini dilakukan pada karyawan di 6 Bank Umum Syariah di Indonesia (Makassar, Palembang dan Semarang). Untuk menjawab permasalah penelitian dikembangkan sebuah model penelitian empiris, terdiri dari 5 konstruk dan 23 indikator. Dari lima variabel tersebut dirumuskan lima hipotesis penelitian. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui kuesioner yang disampaikan secara langsung maupun melalui surat serta contact person. Kuesioner dikirim sebanyak 250 dan setelah melalui proses editing hanya sebanyak 219 kuesioner yang dinyatakan valid. Teknik Analisis yang digunakan adalah Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) dengan software LISREL v.8.54. Hasil pengujian hipotesis menunjukkan bahwa; Variabel Komitmen Organisasi di-pengaruhi secara signifikans oleh variabel bebas Etika Kerja Islami dengan nilai korelasi 0,27; nilai t-hitung yang diperoleh sebesar 3,18. Variabel Kinerja Karyawan tidak dipengaruhi secara signifikan oleh variable Etika Kerja Islam dengan nilai korelasi 0,09, nilai t-hitung sebesar 1,39. Variabel Kinerja Karyawan dipengaruhi secara signifikan oleh variabel bebas Budaya Organisasi dengan nilai korelasi 0,36; nilai t-hitung yang diperoleh sebesar 6,48. Variabel Kinerja Karyawan dipengaruhi secara signifikan oleh variabel bebas Kompetensi SDM dengan nilai korelasi sebesar 0,19. Nilai t-hitung yang diperoleh sebesar 3,29. Variabel Kinerja Karyawan juga dipengaruhi secara signifikans oleh variabel bebas Komitmen Organisasi dengan nilai korelasi 0,63.     ESU First Gen Community Sprouts Knowledge: Navigating Middle School to College Bound Experiences

    The College Bound ESU is a free program designed to connect local middle school students from JT Lambert Intermediate School and Stroudsburg Middle School, whose parents did not complete a 4-year college degree and provide them with the resources to be first generation college students. The program is a school day field trip to ESU campus where they learn about academic departments and college life for a total of 7 experiences. The program is comprised of visits to campus that will engage students by exploring interests and majors. Connecting students with Gen One college student mentors and experience college life. It also reinforces the importance and impact of high school academics. The goal is for the students to gain an appreciation and understand the benefits of a higher education degree. We also discuss how to better prepare students to understand how to get admitted and financial opportunities and pathways. Lastly, we want to demonstrate that college is an achievable goal

    THE INFLUENCE OF CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AND CORPORATE REPUTATION ON COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE THROUGH FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE

    Abstract Purpose: This study focuses on a formulation of the problem of low competitiveness of manufacturing industries so that efforts need to be made to increase the competitive advantage of manufacturing companies in Indonesia by paying attention to aspects of social responsibility and Corporate Reputation mediated by financial performance. Theoretical framework: This study used the Resources Based View (RBV), Signalling Theory, Agency Theory, and Competitive Advantage model as the explanatory of CSR, Corporate Reputation Financial Performance, and Competitive Advantage. The yearly report of manufacturing businesses in the food and beverage sub-sector listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2013 until 2022 was calculated using the Structural Equation Model (SEM) method and the Smart-PLS application. Design/methodology/approach: We conducted our analysis using data from www.idx.co.id, the Indonesia Stock Exchange's official website. We discovered that, over the course of the study's 10-year research period, from 2013 to 2022, there will be 28 104 manufacturing companies in the food and beverage sub-sector. This study used a quantitative data analysis method as its data analysis strategy. This paper applied structural equation modeling (SEM) osfor data analysis. Findings: The Structural Equation Model (SEM) method found that corporate reputation had a positive and significant impact on financial performance, while social responsibility had a positive and significant impact on excellence competitiveness, corporate reputation had a positive and significant impact on competitive advantage, and corporate financial performance had a positive and significant impact on reputation. Research, Practical & Social implications: The findings of this research can explain about economic development and job creation, Improved quality of life, promotion of ethical standards, Inequality Reduction, environmental conservation, stakeholder trust and loyalty, education and skills developments. Originality/value: The originality and significant contribution of studying the influence of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Corporate Reputation (CG) on competitive advantage through financial performance are multi-faceted.     Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh langsung kompetensi sumber daya manusia, disiplin kerja dan lingkungan kerja terhadap kinerja pegawai. Pengaruh langsung kompetensi sumber daya manusia dan disiplin kerja  terhadap lingkungan kerja. Pengaruh tidak langsung variabel kompetensi sumber daya manusia dan disiplin kerja terhadap kinerja pegawai dengan lingkungan kerja sebagai variabel mediasi pada Cabang Dinas Pendidikan Wilayah III Bone Provinsi Sulawesi Selatan. Pengumpulan data menggunakan data primer yang diperoleh dari kusioner dengan menggunakan sampel jenuh. Populasi dalam penelitian ini yaitu 36 responden. Hasil kusioner tersebut telah diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya dengan menggunakan skema model PLS dan evaluasi model, evaluasi inner model dengan uji koefisien determinan, uji kebaikan model dan uji hipotesis baik secara langsung maupun tidak langsung. Hasil olah data ini menggunakan SmartPLS versi 3. Hasil penelitian secara langsung menunjukkan bahwa variabel kompetensi sumber daya manusia tidak berpengaruh terhadap kinerja pegawai dan lingkungan kerja. Disiplin kerja dan lingkungan kerja berpengaruh positif signifikan terhadap kinerja pegawai. Disiplin kerja berpengaruh positif signifikan terhadap lingkungan kerja Hasil penelitian secara tidak langsung menunjukkan bahwa kompetensi sumber daya manusia tidak berpengaruh terhadap kinerja pegawai dengan lingkungan kerja sebagai mediasi dan disiplin kerja berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap kinerja pegawai dngan lingkungan kerja sebagai mediasi

    Advances in banking technology provide convenience for customers through operational services in the form of mobile banking that allows customers to perform banking transactions through smartphones. The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of mobile banking service quality on customer satisfaction and loyalty of BUMN Bank (State-Owned Enterprises), namely Bank BRI, Bank BNI, Bank BTN, and Bank Mandiri in Makassar, South Sulawesi. This study uses a quantitative approach. Data was collected by distributing questionnaires to 120 customers using the purposive sampling technique. The data that has been collected were analyzed using SPSS (Statistical Product and Service Solutions) version 23.0. The results of this study indicate that the quality of mobile banking services has a positive and significant effect on customer satisfaction and loyalty, while customer satisfaction has a significant effect on their loyalty. Furthermore, the quality of mobile banking services has a significant effect on loyalty mediated by customer satisfaction
