    Springback analysis of AA5754 after hot stamping: experiments and FE modelling

    In this paper, the springback of the aluminium alloy AA5754 under hot stamping conditions was characterised under stretch and pure bending conditions. It was found that elevated temperature stamping was beneficial for springback reduction, particularly when using hot dies. Using cold dies, the flange springback angle decreased by 9.7 % when the blank temperature was increased from 20 to 450 °C, compared to the 44.1 % springback reduction when hot dies were used. Various other forming conditions were also tested, the results of which were used to verify finite element (FE) simulations of the processes in order to consolidate the knowledge of springback. By analysing the tangential stress distributions along the formed part in the FE models, it was found that the springback angle is a linear function of the average through-thickness stress gradient, regardless of the forming conditions used

    Associations between body mass index, weight control concerns and behaviors, and eating disorder symptoms among non-clinical Chinese adolescents

    <p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Previous research with adolescents has shown associations of body weight, weight control concerns and behaviors with eating disorder symptoms, but it is unclear whether these associations are direct or whether a mediating effect exists. This study was conducted to investigate the prevalence of overweight and obesity, weight control concerns and behaviors, and eating disorder symptoms and to examine the mediating function of weight control concerns and behaviors on the relationship between body mass index (BMI) and eating disorder symptoms among non-clinical adolescents in China.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>A cross-sectional survey among 2019 adolescent girls and 1525 adolescent boys in the 7th, 8th, 10th and 11th grades from seven cities in China was conducted. Information on weight control concerns and behaviors, and eating disorder symptoms (Eating Disorder Inventory-3) were collected from the adolescents using a self-administrated questionnaire.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>Weight control concerns and behaviors, and eating disorder symptoms were prevalent among the study population. A high proportion of adolescents scored at or above the threshold on the eating disorder inventory (EDI) subscale such as bulimia, interoceptive deficits, perfectionism, and maturity fears, which indicated eating disorder symptoms. High BMI was significantly associated with high score of drive for thinness, body dissatisfaction, bulimia, low self-esteem, interceptive deficits and maturity fears, so do perceived body weight status. Almost all weight control concerns and behaviors we investigated were significantly associated with high EDI subscale scores. When weight control concerns were added to the model, as shown in the model, the association between BMI and tendency of drive to thinness and bulimia was attenuated but still kept significant. The association between BMI and body dissatisfaction were no further significant. The association of BMI and drive for thinness, body dissatisfaction and bulimia was considerably weaker than when weight control behaviors were not included.</p> <p>Conclusions</p> <p>Weight control concerns and behaviors may be mediators of the association between BMI and eating disorder symptoms. Interpretation of these weight control problems is crucial to develop culturally appropriate educational and intervention programs for adolescents.</p

    New Landscapes and Horizons in Hepatocellular Carcinoma Therapy

    Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), is the sixth most frequent form of cancer and leads to the fourth highest number of deaths each year. HCC results from a combination of environmental factors and aging as there are driver mutations at oncogenes which occur during aging. Most of HCCs are diagnosed at advanced stage preventing curative therapies. Treatment in advanced stage is a challenging and pressing problem, and novel and well-tolerated therapies are urgently needed. We will discuss further advances beyond sorafenib that target additional signaling pathways and immune checkpoint proteins. The scenario of possible systemic therapies for patients with advanced HCC has changed dramatically in recent years. Personalized genomics and various other omics approaches may identify actionable biochemical targets, which are activated in individual patients, which may enhance therapeutic outcomes. Further studies are needed to identify predictive biomarkers and aberrantly activated signaling pathways capable of guiding the clinician in choosing the most appropriate therapy for the individual patient

    Interactions between Lake-Level Fluctuations and Waterlogging Disasters around a Large-Scale Shallow Lake: An Empirical Analysis from China

    Waterlogging disasters in the lakeside areas of shallow lakes that located in plain regions are sensitive to lake-level fluctuations. However, there are very few studies on the influences of lake-level fluctuations on waterlogged lakeside areas from a large lake basin perspective. This paper proposes an integrated hydrodynamic model employing the MIKE software to contribute to the existing literature by filling the gap constituted by the lack of an estimation of the impacts of lake-level fluctuations on waterlogging disasters by relevant models. First, a coupled one-dimensional and two-dimensional hydrodynamic model is established to simulate the waterlogging routing in the lakeside area around Nansi Lake (NL) in addition to the flood routing in NL and its tributaries. Second, the model is calibrated and verified by two measured flood events in July 2007 and July 2008; the results indicate that the model can correctly simulate the drainage process of pumping stations in the lakeside area, as well as the interactions between the waterlogging drainage and lake-level fluctuations. Third, the process of waterlogging in the lakeside area of NL is simulated under different rainfall events and initial lake-level conditions. Fourth, based on the results of the model, this paper illustrates the influences of lake-level fluctuations on the waterlogged area around the lake, as well as the different responses of waterlogging in different areas to lake-level fluctuations in NL and the main cause for these differences. Finally, based on the results of the model, this paper presents some implications for waterlogging simulations and drainage system design
