Morse potential energy spectra through the variational method and supersymmetry
The Variational Method is applied within the context of Supersymmetric
Quantum Mechanics to provide information about the energy and eigenfunction of
the lowest levels of a Hamiltonian. The approach is illustrated by the case of
the Morse potential applied to several diatomic molecules and the results are
compared with stablished results.Comment: 9 pages, LATEX, 1 eps figur
Supersymmetric variational energies for the confined Coulomb system
The methodology based on the association of the Variational Method with
Supersymmetric Quantum Mechanics is used to evaluate the energy states of the
confined hydrogen atom.Comment: 9 pages, Latex, version to appear in Phys. Lett. A299 (2002) 137-14
AdS space compactification and holographic mapping in the AdS/CFT correspondence
Physical consistency of quantum fields in anti-de Sitter space time requires
that the space must be compactified by the inclusion of a boundary where
appropriate conditions are imposed. An interpretation for the presence of this
boundary is found taking AdS as a limiting case of the space generated by a
large number of coincident branes. The compactification of AdS leads to a
discretization of the spectrum of bulk fields. As a consequence, we find a one
to one mapping between the quantum states of scalar fields in AdS bulk and
boundary. Using this mapping as an approximation for the dual relation between
string dilaton field and scalar QCD glueballs the high energy QCD scaling is
reproduced. We also use this map to estimate the ratio of scalar glueball
masses.Comment: 5 pages, talk presented at "Renormalization Group and Anomalies in

"Team chemistry" through chemistry lenses: Interdisciplinary science or a metaphorical conundrum?
A Google search on “team chemistry” returns over 443,000 entries (October 2014) usually denoting some sort of team process, such as cohesion, shared mental models, and collective efficacy. Practitioners (e.g., athletic coaches and business managers) often emphasize the importance of team chemistry for optimal performance. For instance, former NFL quarterback and current business executive Roger Staubach noted that “In any team sport, the best teams have consistency and chemistry.” Researchers in performance psychology also allude to the notion of “team chemistry” when discussing exceptional teams (Levine, 1994; Gershgoren et al., 2013)
Supersymmetric variational energies of 3d confined potentials
Within the approach of Supersymmetric Quantum Mechanics associated with the
variational method a recipe to construct the superpotential of three
dimensional confined potentials in general is proposed. To illustrate the
construction, the energies of the Harmonic Oscillator and the Hulth\'en
potential, both confined in three dimensions are evaluated. Comparison with the
corresponding results of other approximative and exact numerical results is
presented.Comment: 9 pages, Late
