This paper examines the Theatre Artiste and his functions that contribute to societal development. Qualitative analysis method was used in examining the relevant of the theatre in achieving developmental goals. The author observed that the theatre plays crucial roles in mass mobilization for rural urban development. The artist is considered as someone with special 'calling' to uplift the people by creating awareness which motivates them to initiate actions that enable them take active roles in determining what happens in their society. It is also observed that the theatre artist is creatively involved in the exploration of the attributes of his environment interpreted in various forms through acting, criticism, dance and music. To this extent, the theatre artist should be co-opted into the programmes of national interest and funded since he has the potentials to mobilize the people towards the execution of developmental projects

This paper examines how social justice, development, and national security could be advanced through drama from the perspective of Ola Rotimi's IF...a Tragedy of the Ruled. The paper adopts qualitative analysis as a methodology in determining the suitability of drama in the actualization our country's objectives in relation to development and national security. Drama is employed as an instrument of consciousness to the people and makes them aware of their responsibilities to the nation to ensure the sustenance of their communal survival. It is observed that the entire community is encouraged to work together in solidarity to achieve progress and self- reliance to free themselves from their oppressors. Within the drama, it is revealed that individual heroism is discouraged as being incapable of solving Nigeria’s problems and so the communal heroism is the desirable as it ensures development and guarantees collective security. The paper makes advocacy for a reduction in poverty which is crippling the lives of the people by the government to alleviate the hardship that is being experienced by the masses. Again, it is necessary that basic amenities such as food, water, shelter, education, health services, road and power should be made available to the people as a means of consolidating social security in the country. The point from this drama is that social justice, development and national security will advance if the majority of the citizenry are provided with basic necessities to sustain their lives

We examine the challenges faced by women for effective communication on social media. The majority of the data used in this study was primary, and it was gathered in the field using a questionnaire. The questionnaire utilized in this study was a written list of questions that had been carefully designed and selected to gather data. The questions were closed-ended and focused on women's issues and their use of social media. Cronbach alpha was used to test the dataset's validity, consistency, and reliability based on the obtained information. Cronbach's Alpha for all constructs or items was more significant than the minimum acceptable reliability coefficient of 0.5 to 0.9, indicating strong internal consistency.Furthermore, Cronbach's Alpha for all constructs was more than the minimal permissible reliability coefficient, indicating that they were valid and trustworthy and hence suitable for use. We notice that the majority of respondents in this study reported that they had experienced social media harassment. Our findings show, in particular, that the majority of respondents in this study believe that women are usually overlooked when it comes to matters requiring social media opinions. From the preceding, we opined that information, education and communication are empowering tools. It is the challenge of women in leadership to dismantle the obstacles in the women's use of information media. No form of women empowerment will succeed until these challenges are met

Man overtime has demonstrated good knowledge of her environment, and as such explores environmental resources in other to satisfy his needs. Isuochi is a community in Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State that is known to possess skills, which remained distinct with them especially in traditional arts and crafts industries. These artisans are resourceful and productive and are now almost self-sufficient people. However, traditional arts and crafts are gradually going into extinction for two reasons. First, the youths often migrate to urban areas in search of white-collar jobs and thus, the art is left solely in the hands of aged and elderly persons. Secondary, imported and second-hand materials, as well as their cheapness, has made most people not to patronise local crafts. These factors among others gave rise to our interest in documenting the traditional arts and crafts of Isuochi. It is believed that if not documented, over time, the arts would only be remembered in myths and stories as in some African phenomenon. To successfully prosecute the study, ethnographic research method was employed. The researchers also used participant-as-observer. Here, the intents and purpose of the study were made known to local craftsmen work and relevant questions useful for achieving the research objectives were asked. Enlightened Isuochi elders were also interviewed. This paper, therefore, attempts to examine the traditional arts and crafts industries in Isuochi with a view to understanding their implications for tourism development. Social Networking Sites are a type of virtual community which enables many people to interact and share ideas or interests. Social networking is rapidly changing the way the world is doing virtually everything, from the way people access information to the way people communicate and most importantly, the way they interact. This study investigated the relationship between Social Networking Sites and Observational Learning of Senior Secondary School students in Mbaitoli Local Government Area, Imo State, Nigeria. Four research questions with the corresponding hypotheses were generated. The objectives of the study centered on investigating the relationship between four social networking sites namely: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube to observational learning. The correlational study design was adopted for the study. Simple random sampling was used to draw a sample of 560 students from the population of the study. The selfdesigned instrument was of two parts: A and B. Pearson Product Moment Correlation was used to answer the research questions while the hypotheses were subjected to critical probability level of 0.05 alpha levels. Findings to this study revealed that there is a significant positive relationship between social networking sites and observational learning; some of which include enhancement of informative endowment as in the case of Facebook, live-video functionality to stories in the case of Instagram and acquisition of vocational skills from YouTube. The paper at the end recommended that more encouragement should be given to students to enable them benefit adequately and positively from the gains of social networking channels vis-a-vis observational learning

Non-linear vibrations of three-layer beams with viscoelastic cores I. Theory

Approximate equations of motion are developed for large amplitude motions of three-layer axially restrained unsymmetrical beams with viscoelastic cores. The external force consists of a constant plus an oscillatory term. The combination of this form of forcing and the large amplitude motions cause the beam to respond at multiples of the forcing frequency. This can lead to difficulties in the complex modulus approach to viscoelasticity. These are overcome here through use of hereditary integrals and their relationships with complex moduli. Theoretical results on the frequency response of clamped, symmetrical beams are compared with earlier experimental work. On the whole, reasonable agreement is found.Peer Reviewedhttp://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstream/2027.42/21772/1/0000166.pd
