    A bibliometric study of the research area of videogames using Dimensions.ai database

    Videogames are a very interesting area of research for fields as diverse as computer science, health, psychology or even social sciences. Every year a growing number of articles are published in different topics inside this field, so it is very convenient to study the different bibliometric data in order to consolidate the research efforts. Thus, the aim of this work is to conduct a study on the distribution of articles related to videogames in the different fields of research, as well as to measure their interest over time, to identify the sources, countries and authors with the highest scientific production. In order to carry out this analysis, the information system Dimensions.ai has been considered, since it covers a large number of documents and allows for easy downloading and analysis of datasets. According to the study, three countries are the most prolific in this area: USA, Canada and UK. The obtained results also indicate that the fields with the highest number of publications are Information and Computer Sciences, Medical and Health Sciences, and Psychology and Cognitive Sciences, in this order. With regard to the impact of the publications, differences between the number of citations, and the number of Altmetric Attention Score, have been found

    We present here an experimental set-up system to excite and measure simultaneously surface plasmon resonance (SPR) and magneto-optic signal in hybrid magneto-plasmonic systems using two independent light sources. The system can be used to excite and measure both types of SPR, localized surface plasmons in nanostructures and surface plasmon polaritons in thin films. It also allows measuring SPR in presence of magnetic fields and recording magnetooptical hysteresis loops while exciting SPR

    Caracterización de morteros con cerámica reciclada y su uso en piezas prefabicadas para entrevigado de forjados

    This study analyses a procedure to manufacture mortars with different percentages of ceramic waste as partial replacement for aggregates. The study also examines the physical, chemical and mechanical properties of the new mortars, analysing substitution ratios that range from 10% to 50%. Prior to this, all the materials used in the production of the mortar were characterised using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and fluorescence (XRF). The objective was to determine the similarity between different types of ceramic waste, as well as the differences in the minerology and chemical composition with the aggregate. The results of the study show that it is possible to obtain mortars with lower densities compared to the same product with no recycled content. The product’s characteristics make it ideal for the manufacture of prefabricated components for structural floors for rehabilitation works. Finally, the pieces are used in a real rehabilitation case study, highlightining the structural advantages.Este trabajo analiza morteros con diferentes porcentajes de cerámica reciclada como sustituto parcial de la arena. Además el estudio examina las propiedades físicas, químicas y mecánicas de los nuevos morteros, empleando diferentes porcentajes de sustitución (10% - 50%). Con anterioridad, se caracterizaron todos los materiales empleados en este trabajo mediante difracción y fluorescencia de rayos-X. El objetivo fue determinar las diferencias y similitudes en la composición química y mineralógica de los distintos tipos de residuos cerámicos y del resto de áridos utilizados. Los resultados muestran que es posible obtener morteros con menor densidad frente a las muestras sin contenido reciclado. Sus características los hacen idóneos para la creación de piezas prefabricadas de entrevigado para rehabilitación de forjados. Finalmente.     Measures for the assessment of stressful life events in the Spanish adult population: A systematic review

    Objetivo: Este estudio pretende identificar y analizar los instrumentos de evaluación de los eventos vitales estresantes creados/adaptados para su uso con población española adulta, publicados en la literatura nacional e internacional, con especial atención en sus propiedades psicométricas y en su asociación con medidas de problemas de salud. Métodos: Se llevó a cabo una revisión sistemática de la literatura de todos los instrumentos publicados a través de los buscadores MEDLINE; ProQuest Health y Medical Complete ProQuest Psychology Journals PsycARTICLES PsycINFO Psicodoc OpenSIGLE desde la fecha de inicio hasta el 31 de enero de 2016. Dos investigadores independientes evaluaron la elegibilidad de todos los artículos, extrajeron los datos y evaluaron sus propiedades psicométricas. Resultados: Se seleccionaron 12 instrumentos que cumplían los criterios de inclusión en el estudio. Las medidas presentaron una gran heterogeneidad. La mayoría no incluían información sobre sus propiedades psicométricas o necesitaban aportar más datos, ya que eran pocas los que evaluaban su estabilidad test-retest y/o su estructura interna. Los cuestionarios creados o adaptados por González de Rivera y Morena (1983), Sandín y Chorot (1987), Fernández y Mielgo (1992), Gracia y Herrero (2004) y Motrico et al. (2013) mostraron asociaciones significativas con variables de problemas de salud. Discusión: Se requieren más estudios sobre la asociación de los instrumentos con variables de problemas de salud mental y física, lo que facilitaría su aplicación clínica. Estos resultados tienen una gran utilidad a la hora de seleccionar un instrumento de evaluación de eventos vitales estresantes en el ámbito clínico y de investigación en España

    Spalling uniaxial strength of Al2O3 at high strain rates

    In this article research into the uniaxial tensile strength of Al2O3 monolithic ceramic is presented. The experimental procedure of the spalling of long bars is investigated from different approaches. This method is used to obtain the tensile strength at high strain rates under uniaxial conditions. Different methodologies proposed by several authors are used to obtain the tensile strength. The hypotheses needed for the experimental set-up are also checked, and the requirements of the set-up and the variables are also studied by means of numerical simulations. The research shows that the shape of the projectile is crucial to achieve successfully tests results. An experimental campaign has been carried out including high speed video and a digital image correlation system to obtain the tensile strength of alumina. Finally, a comparison of the test results provided by three different methods proposed by different authors is presented. The tensile strength obtained from the three such methods on the same specimens provides contrasting results. Mean values vary from one method to another but the trends are similar for two of the methods. The third method gives less scatter, though the mean values obtained are lower and do not follow the same trend as the other methods for the different specimens

    The Impact of Socio-Economic Status on Self-Rated Health: Study of 29 Countries Using European Social Surveys (2002–2008)

    Studies show that the association between socio-economic status (SES) and self-rated health (SRH) varies in different countries, however there are not many country comparisons that examine this relationship over time. The objective of the present study is to determine the effect of three SES measures on SRH in 29 countries according to findings in European Social Surveys (2002–2008), in order to study how socio-economic inequalities can vary our subjective state of health. In line with previous studies, income inequalities seem to be greater not only in Anglo Saxon and Scandinavian countries, but especially in Eastern European countries. The impact of education is greater in Southern countries, and this effect is similar in Eastern and Scandinavian countries, although occupational status does not produce significant differences in southern countries. This study shows the general relevance of socio educational factors on SRH. Individual economic conditions are obviously a basic factor contributing to a good state of health, but education could be even more relevant to preserve it. In this sense, policies should not only aim at reducing income inequalities, but should also further the education of people who are in risk of social exclusion

    In this paper a human-robot physical interaction system with purposes of diagnosis and rehabilitation of upper limb is proposed.Anunderactuatedhaptic device with six degrees of freedom is used, with low inertia and low joint friction.Adaptive control technique is used for passive haptic guidance and active exploration, in order to compensate the dynamic uncertainty of the human operator in the loop.To validate the experimental platform, a procedure is established with three steps: i) knowledge of the haptic interface (interaction with the kinematic virtual environment), ii) navigation in a virtual pipe with changes in the geometric characteristics (verification of position, velocity, collisions and runtime), and iii) haptic guidance in a structured path based on a clinical protocol (study of convergence and energy).Environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, lighting and noise are characterizedwith purposes to define experimental conditions.In this work, we assess based on the NASA-TLX protocol,the workload perception of simple temporal-spatial tasks

    Improvement of yield and quality fruit in water stressed through selection of pepper rootstocks

    [SPA] La reducción del agua disponible en el Sureste español está obligando a buscar alternativas que palien dichas disminuciones. En este trabajo se han estudiado los efectos de tres portainjertos comerciales (Atlante, Creonte y Terrano) sobre la respuesta agronómica y fisiológica de una variedad comercial de pimiento (cv Herminio) sometido a riego deficitario (50% de la capacidad de campo). Creonte produjo las plantas más productivas y eficientes en el uso del agua, registró la mayor actividad fotosintética y contenido de agua en las hojas, y el área foliar y la biomasa más estables bajo estrés hídrico. Atlante es un portainjertos vegetativo vigoroso y Terrano es más bien un portainjertos enano-reproductivo que produce plantas compactas eficientes sin efectos negativos en la calidad de la fruta. [ENG] The reduction of the water available in the southeastern Spanish is forcing to look for alternatives that alleviate these decreases. The effects of three commercial rootstocks (Atlante, Creonte and Terrano) on the agronomical and physiological responses of a commercial sweet pepper variety (cv Herminio) subject to deficit irrigation (50% of field capacity) have been studied. Although the three rootstocks increased total and marketable yield under control and deficit irrigation. Creonte produced the most productive and efficient plants in the use of water, recorded the highest photosynthetic activity and water content in the leaves, and the foliar area and biomass more stable under water stress. Atlante is a vigorous vegetative rootstock and Terrano is rather a dwarfing-reproductive rootstock that produces efficient compact plants without negative effects on fruit quality

    Anthropogenic and natural CO2 exchange through the Strait of Gibraltar

    The exchange of both anthropogenic and natural inorganic carbon between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea through Strait of Gibraltar was studied for a period of two years under the frame of the CARBOOCEAN project. A comprehensive sampling program was conducted, which was design to collect samples at eight fixed stations located in the Strait in successive cruises periodically distributed through the year in order to ensure a good spatial and temporal coverage. As a result of this monitoring, time series namely GIFT (GIbraltar Fixed Time series) has been established, allowing the generation of an extensive data set of the carbon system parameters in the area. Data acquired during the development of nine campaigns were analyzed in this work. Total inorganic carbon concentration (CT ) was calculated from alkalinity-pHT pairs and appropriate thermodynamic relationships, with the concentration of anthropogenic carbon (CANT) being also computed using two methods, the 1C* and the TrOCA approach. Applying a two-layer model of water mass exchange through the Strait and using a value of −0.85 Sv for the average transport of the outflowing Mediterranean water recorded in situ during the considered period, a net export of inorganic carbon from the Mediterranean Sea to the Atlantic was obtained, which amounted to 25±0.6 TgC yr−1. A net alkalinity output of 16±0.6 TgC yr−1 was also observed to occur through the Strait. In contrast, the Atlantic water was found to contain a higher concentration of anthropogenic carbon than the Mediterranean water, resulting in a net flux of CANT towards the Mediterranean basin of 4.20±0.04 TgC yr−1 by using the 1C* method, which constituted the most adequate approach for this environment. A carbon balance in the Mediterranean was assessed and fluxes through the Strait are discussed in relation to the highly diverse estimates available in the literature for the area and the different approaches considered for CANT estimation. This work unequivocally confirms the relevant role of the Strait of Gibraltar as a controlling point for the biogeochemical exchanges occurring between the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean and emphasizes the influence of the Mediterranean basin in the carbon inventories of the North Atlantic.Peer reviewe
