Comparing GUI Functional System Testing with Functional System Logic Testing - An Experiment
The practitioner interested in reducing software verification effort may found herself lost in the many alternative definitions of Graphical User Interface (GUI) testing that exist and their relation to the notion of system testing. One result of these many definitions is that one may end up testi
ng twice the same parts of the Software Under Test (SUT), specifically the application logic code. To clarify two important testing activities
for the avoidance of duplicate testing effort, this paper studies possible differences between GUI testing and system testing experimentally. Specifically, we selected a SUT equipped with system tests that directly exercise the application code; We used GUITAR, a well-known GUI testing software to GUI test this SUT. Experimental results show important differences between system testing and GUI testing in terms of structural coverage and test cost
Unbound exotic nuclei studied by projectile fragmentation
We call "projectile fragmentation" of neutron halo nuclei the elastic breakup
(diffraction) reaction, when the observable studied is the neutron-core
relative energy spectrum. This observable has been measured in relation to the
Coulomb breakup on heavy target and recently also on light targets. Such data
enlighten the effect of the neutron final state interaction with the core of
origin. Projectile fragmentation is studied here by a time dependent model for
the excitation of a nucleon from a bound state to a continuum resonant state in
a neutron-core complex potential which acts as a final state interaction.
The final state is described by an optical model S-matrix so that both
resonant and non resonant states of any continuum energy can be studied as well
as deeply bound initial states. It turns out that due to the coupling between
the initial and final states, the neutron-core free particle phase shifts are
modified, in the exit channel, by an additional phase.
Some typical numerical calculations for the relevant observables are
presented and compared to experimental data. It is suggest that the excitation
energy spectra of an unbound nucleus might reflect the structure of the parent
nucleus from whose fragmentation they are obtained.Comment: Proceedings of the 11th Conference on Problems in Theoretican Nuclear

Single-Proton Removal Reaction Study of 16B
The low-lying level structure of the unbound system B has been
investigated via single-proton removal from a 35 MeV/nucleon C beam. The
coincident detection of the beam velocity B fragment and neutron allowed
the relative energy of the in-flight decay of B to be reconstructed. The
resulting spectrum exhibited a narrow peak some 85 keV above threshold. It is
argued that this feature corresponds to a very narrow (100 keV)
resonance, or an unresolved multiplet, with a dominant + configuration which decays by d-wave neutron
emission.Comment: 16 pages, 5 figures, 1 table, submitted to Phys. Lett.
Helium Clustering in Neutron-Rich Be Isotopes
Measurements of the helium-cluster breakup and neutron removal cross sections
for neutron-rich Be isotopes A=10-12,14 are presented. These have been studied
in the 30 to 42 MeV/u energy range where reaction measurements are proposed to
be sensitive to the cluster content of the ground-state wave-function. These
measurements provide a comprehensive survey of the decay processes of the Be
isotopes by which the valence neutrons are removed revealing the underlying
alpha-alpha core-cluster structure. The measurements indicate that clustering
in the Be isotopes remains important up to the drip-line nucleus 14^Be and that
the dominant helium-cluster structure in the neutron-rich Be isotopes
corresponds to alpha-Xn-alpha.Comment: 5 pages, 2 tables and 3 figure
Structure of 12Be: intruder d-wave strength at N=8
The breaking of the N=8 shell-model magic number in the 12Be ground state has
been determined to include significant occupancy of the intruder d-wave
orbital. This is in marked contrast with all other N=8 isotones, both more and
less exotic than 12Be. The occupancies of the 0 hbar omega neutron p1/2-orbital
and the 1 hbar omega, neutron d5/2 intruder orbital were deduced from a
measurement of neutron removal from a high-energy 12Be beam leading to bound
and unbound states in 11Be.Comment: 5 pages, 2 figure
Exploring the performance of the spectrometer prisma in heavy zirconium and xenon mass regions
We present results from two recent runs which illustrate the performance of the PRISMA spectrometer in the proximity of the upper limit of its operational interval, namely 96Zr + 124Sn at Elab = 500 MeV and 136Xe + 208Pb at Elab = 930 MeV. In the latter run, the γ array CLARA also allowed us to identify previously unknown γ transitions in the nuclides 136Cs and 134I
Coulomb excitation of exotic nuclei at the R3B-LAND setup
Exotic Ni isotopes have been measured at the R3B-LAND setup at GSI in
Darmstadt, using Coulomb excitation in inverse kinematics at beam energies
around 500 MeV/u. As the experimental setup allows kinematically complete
measurements, the excitation energy was reconstructed using the invariant mass
method. The GDR and additional low-lying strength have been observed in 68Ni,
the latter exhausting 4.1(1.9)% of the E1 energy-weighted sum rule. Also, the
branching ratio for the non-statistical decay of the excited 68Ni nuclei was
measured and amounts to 24(4)%.Comment: 11 pages, 7 figures. Invited Talk given at the 11th International

First observation of excited states in 173Hg
The neutron-deficient nucleus 173Hg has been studied following
fusion-evaporation reactions. The observation of gamma rays decaying from
excited states are reported for the first time and a tentative level scheme is
proposed. The proposed level scheme is discussed within the context of the
systematics of neighbouring neutron-deficient Hg nuclei. In addition to the
gamma-ray spectroscopy, the alpha decay of this nucleus has been measured
yielding superior precision to earlier measurements.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure

The detection of neutron clusters
A new approach to the production and detection of bound neutron clusters is
presented. The technique is based on the breakup of beams of very neutron-rich
nuclei and the subsequent detection of the recoiling proton in a liquid
scintillator. The method has been tested in the breakup of 11Li, 14Be and 15B
beams by a C target. Some 6 events were observed that exhibit the
characteristics of a multineutron cluster liberated in the breakup of 14Be,
most probably in the channel 10Be+4n. The various backgrounds that may mimic
such a signal are discussed in detail.Comment: 11 pages, 12 figures, LPCC 01-1
