    Experimental studies of unbound neutron-rich nuclei

    The three-body description of two-neutron halo nuclei relies on the two-body interactions between the constituents. In order to provide constraints on calculations devoted to 14^{14}Be and 17^{17}B, neutron unbound states of 13^{13}Be and 16^{16}B have been investigated by one-proton knockout.     Breaking of N=8 magicity in 13Be

    Structure of 13^{13}Be was investigated with antisymmetrized molecular dynamics. The variation after spin and parity projections was performed. An unnatural parity 1/2−1/2^- state was suggested to be lower than 5/2+5/2^+ state indicating that vanishing of the N=8 magic number occurs in 13^{13}Be. A low-lying 3/2+3/2^+ state with a 2ℏω2\hbar\omega configuration was also suggested. Developed cluster structures were found in the intruder states.     Particle-particle random phase approximation applied to Beryllium isotopes

    This work is dedicated to the study of even-even 8-14 Be isotopes using the particle-particle Random Phase Approximation that accounts for two-body correlations in the core nucleus. A better description of energies and two-particle amplitudes is obtained in comparison with models assuming a neutron closed-shell (or subshell) core. A Wood-Saxon potential corrected by a phenomenological particle-vibration coupling term has been used for the neutron-core interaction and the D1S Gogny force for the neutron-neutron interaction. Calculated ground state properties as well as excited state ones are discussed and compared to experimental data. In particular, results suggest the same 2s_1/2-1p_1/2 shell inversion in 13Be as in 11Be.Comment: to appear in Phys. Rev.

    Structure of the neutron-rich N=7 isotones 10Li and 9He

    The near threshold structure of the unbound N=7 isotones 10Li and 9He has been investigated using proton removal and breakup from intermediate energy (35 MeV/nucleon) secondary beams of 11Be and 14,15B. The coincident detection of the beam velocity 9Li and 8He fragments and neutrons permitted the relative energy of the in-flight decay of 10Li and 9He to be reconstructed.     Population of neutron unbound states via two-proton knockout reactions

    The two-proton knockout reaction 9Be(26Ne,O2p) was used to explore excited unbound states of 23O and 24O. In 23O a state at an excitation energy of 2.79(13) MeV was observed.     The Modular Neutron Array (MoNA) was used in conjunction with a large-gap dipole magnet (Sweeper) to measure neutron-unbound states in oxygen isotopes close to the neutron dripline.     Energy distributions from three-body decaying many-body resonances

    We compute energy distributions of three particles emerging from decaying many-body resonances. We reproduce the measured energy distributions from decays of two archetypal states chosen as the lowest 0+0^{+} and 1+1^{+}-resonances in 12^{12}C populated in ÎČ\beta-decays. These states are dominated by sequential, through the 8^{8}Be ground state, and direct decays, respectively. These decay mechanisms are reflected in the ``dynamic'' evolution from small, cluster or shell-model states, to large distances, where the coordinate or momentum space continuum wavefunctions are accurately computed.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figures.     Neutron knockout of 12Be populating neutron-unbound states in 11Be

    Neutron-unbound resonant states of 11Be were populated in neutron knock-out reactions from 12Be and identified by 10Be-n coincidence measurements. A resonance in the decay-energy spectrum at 80(2) keV was attributed to a highly excited unbound state in 11Be at 3.949(2) MeV decaying to the 2+ excited state in 10Be.     Status of art of reaction models for projectiles far from stability

    This talk will review the status of art of nuclear and Coulomb breakup theories and their relation to optical models of elastic scattering of exotic projectiles. The effect of the final state interactions between the breakup particle and the core and target nuclei will be clarified and some typical numerical calculations for the relevant observables will be presented and compared to experimental data.
