OBJECTIVE: The main aim of the study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety profile of Nivolumab, an immune-checkpoint-inhibitor antibody, in advanced, previously treated, Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) patients, in a real world setting. METHODS: We performed a retrospective, multicentre data analysis of patients who were included in the Portuguese Nivolumab Expanded Access Program (EAP). Eligibility criteria included histologically or citologically confirmed NSCLC, stage IIIB and IV, evaluable disease, sufficient organ function and at least one prior line of chemotherapy. The endpoints included Overall Response Rate (ORR), Disease Control Rate (DCR), Progression Free Survival (PFS) and Overall Survival (OS). Safety analysis was performed with the National Cancer Institute Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events (CTCAE), version 4.0, and immune-related Adverse Events (irAEs) were treated according to protocol treatment guidelines. Tumour response was assessed using the Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumours (RECIST) version 1.1. Data was analysed using SPSS, version 21.0 (IBM Statistics). RESULTS: From June 2015 to December 2016, a total of 229 patients with advanced NSCLC were enrolled at 30 Portuguese centres. Clinical data were collected up to the end of July 2018. The baseline median age was 64 years (range 37-83) and the majority of patients were males (70.3%) and former/current smokers (69.4%). Patients with non-squamous histology predominated (88.1%), and 67.6% of the patients had received 2 or more prior lines of chemotherapy. Out of 229 patients, data was available for 219 patients (3 patients did not start treatment, while data was unavailable in 7 patients); of the 219 patients, 15.5% were not evaluated for radiological tumour assessment, 1.4% had complete response (CR), 21% partial response (PR), 31% stable disease (SD) and 31.1% progressive disease (PD). Thus, the ORR was 22.4% and DCR was 53.4% in this population. At the time of survival analysis the median PFS was 4.91 months (95% CI, 3.89-6.11) and median OS was 13.21 months (95% CI, 9.89-16.53). The safety profile was in line with clinical trial data. CONCLUSIONS: Efficacy and safety results observed in this retrospective analysis were consistent with observations reported in clinical trials and from other centres.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Objective: Evaluate the impact of the Sustainable BR-163 Plan and identify the presence of spatial clusters that explain the territorial dynamics of the micro-regions of influence of the BR-163. Method: An impact assessment was carried out based on the Differences in Differences model, analyzing years before and after its creation. The empirical strategy adopted was based on: a model without matching adjustments; one with weighted inverse probability; and one with the nearest neighbor pairing. Results: It was observed that the estimate of the policy effect is positive and significant in the three models. In the first, there was an increase of 1.234% in the difference in post-policy deforestation in the municipalities in the area of influence of the highway; in the second it rises to 1.426% and stays at 1.335% in the nearest neighbor pairing. It was identified that there was a slowdown in the advance of deforestation, a positive point, however, it is not possible to state that this fact resulted from the implementation of the plan or by other municipal and state policies and incentives. Conclusion: The spatial association analysis carried out showed that the variables Deforestation, Burning Spots and Pasture Area can be discussed at the level of spatial groupings, but do not present similar trends for the entire area of influence of the highway

NOX EMISSION ON RECIPROCAL FILTRATION COMBUSTION OF BIOGAS: A CASE STUDY

Filtration combustion is an effective technique for dealing with low-calorific value fuels, such as derivative fuels from biomass, and simultaneously reducing pollutant emissions. In this study, combustion of biogas (22% of CO2) was investigated theoretically and experimentally by utilizing a reciprocal flow porous burner with heat exchangers inserted in the porous medium. Combustion of lean biogas-air mixtures is stabilized in a naturally transient process, in which a lean equivalence ratio range (0.1 ≤ Φ ≤ 0.9) and gas flow velocities of 0.2 and 0.3 m/s were employed, periodically switching gas flow direction. Reciprocal flow combustion has been compared with unidirectional combustion, using technical methane as reference gas. In this context, predicted temperature profiles inside the burner, as well as experimental results, have shown that the reciprocating system plays an important role in the combustion process, significantly improving flammability limits, efficiency, and emissions. As result, trapezoidal temperature distribution profiles have been obtained with peaks between 1200 and 1600 K, reaching high efficiency up to 90% and ultra-low emission of nitrogen oxides (≤ 2ppm)

    Multidimensional Rovella-like attractors

We present a multidimensional flow exhibiting a Rovella-like attractor: a transitive invariant set with a non-Lorenz-like singularity accumulated by regular orbits and a multidimensional non-uniformly expanding invariant direction. Moreover, this attractor has a physical measure with full support but persists along certain0909.1033 submanifolds of the space of vector fields. As in the 3-dimensional Rovella-like attractor, this example is not robust. The construction introduces a class of multidimensional dynamics, whose suspension provides the Rovella-like attractor, which are partially hyperbolic, and whose quotient over stable leaves is a multidimensional endomorphism to which Benedicks-Carleson type arguments are applied to prove non-uniform expansion.Comment: 45 pages, 14 figures; improved introduction with more citations to other relevant related works. Robust exponential decay of correlations for singular-flows

We construct open sets of Ck (k bigger or equal to 2) vector fields with singularities that have robust exponential decay of correlations with respect to the unique physical measure. In particular we prove that the geometric Lorenz attractor has exponential decay of correlations with respect to the unique physical measure.Comment: Final version accepted for publication with added corrections (not in official published version) after O. Butterley pointed out to the authors that the last estimate in the argument in Subsection 4.2.3 of the previous version is not enough to guarantee the uniform non-integrability condition claimed. We have modified the argument and present it here in the same Subsection. 3 figures, 34 page
