Social Interactions and Unemployment
This paper is concerned with social interactions and their importance for unemployment. A theoretical model is specified in which the social and psychological costs of unemployment depend upon the unemployment level. The theoretical analysis reveals social multiplier effects, and shows that multiple unemployment equilibria may emerge. Data on all 20- to 24-year-olds living in the Stockholm metropolitan area during the 1990s are used to test key hypotheses derived from the model. The focus is on the role of neighborhood-based reference groups, and the results support the theoretical predictions: unemployment levels vary more across neighborhood-groups than what would be expected based on variation in observable characteristics, and individuals' transition rates out of unemployment appear to be strongly influenced by the unemployment level within their neighborhood-based reference groups.Social interaction; social norms; social multipliers; unemployment

We have made a litterature study about pain in animals. In this studie we have brought up
areas like sign of pains in animals, pain relief and the care perspective.
Pain is perceived when body tissue is damaged or nearly damaged by stimuli. Nociceptors,
which are receptors placed at nerve endings, responds to a provocation of pain and
transmit an impulse along the nerve to the brain via the spinal cord. Pain is urgent or
chronic, and can be divided into nociceptive pain (somatic pain and visceral pain) and
neuropathic pain. Different pain mechanisms can arise, such as referred pain, which is
when signals of pain are referred to other parts of the body. Another example is peripheral
or central sensitisation, which means an increased sensitivity to pain. Wind-up is the result
of increased pain by repeated stimuli. Reflexes are an important defense mechanism. The
body has its own pain-limiting mechanisms, such as the gate theory and the release of
endogen opioides. Placebo and nocebo are positive respectively negative expectancy
effects.
There are many reasons as to why pain is negatively perceived. Apart from the actual
suffering, prolonged pain can result in a weakened immune system and a deterioration of
the wound healing process. There are many opinions about animal's pain. Recurring
questions include whether animals can feel pain; how this pain is perceived; whether or not
the pain relief is sufficient; and how to reduce pain. Nowadays it is well known that
animals can sense pain in a similar way as humans, but the degree of pain might be
difficult to judge. There are several different techniques and tools to help judge the degree
of pain. Among others, scales that omit from animal behaviour. As the main purpose of
veterinarians and animal nurses is to decrease their patients' suffering, efforts must be
made to decrease their pain. The basic concept for good care and pain management is
'Tender Loving Care', or TLC.
Pain management (analgesic) is based either on blocking the nociceptores or on the body's
own pain controling system. Analgesic drugs act in various ways on the peripheral and
central nervous systems. Peripheral working analgetica has effect on pain and
inflammations in a limited area (nociceptive pain). Central working analgetica acts in the
central nerve system. Opioides, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and local
anaesthetics are the main substanses that may be used as analgesics, either alone or in
combination. Alpha-2 adrenoreceptor agonists, dissociative drugs, benzodiazepines, and to
some extent corticosteroides, may also be used as pain relievers. In addition, nonpharmacologic
measures, such as acupuncture, Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulator
(TENS), massage and laser treatments can relief pain by stimulating the body's own painlimiting
mechanisms
âSeriously seeking comicsâ : Subject determination, classification and indexing of comics
The purpose of this masterâs thesis is to examine how comics, here defined as a combination of text and images, are handled by the libraries in regards to subject analysis, classification and indexing. A comparative approach has been used in this study. First, common practices, methods and theories concerning subject analysis developed for documents consisting of text or images are presented. Then the current systems at two special libraries, specializing in comics and consequently dealing with both text and images, are examined and related to the above mentioned practices, in order to discover differences and similarities. The results indicate that practices, methods and theories developed for documents consisting of text or images are applicable on comics as well. The two examined special libraries had both developed their own classification systems and lists of subject headings, to accommodate the special needs of their particular type of documents consisting of text and images, but these were based on similar principles as practices and methods developed for text or images. Also discussed here is that comics appear to lack general acceptance as a form of literature in the larger library sector. Special libraries dedicated to comics often develop their own in-house systems, while general libraries tend to overlook the special attention this type of documents need. As a result, and unless comics receive the same considerations as text and image separately, they may become more obscure as a genre within general libraries.
Insurance investigators experience of clients threats and violence - A qualitative study with the Swedish Social Insurance Agency's investigators in two medium-sized municipalities
Threats and violence have increased within human treatment organizations the last couple of years. It is difficult to determine whether this is an actual increase or whether the violence is due to an increased propensity to report or a broader definition of the term threat and violence. Threats and violence can lead to several negative consequences, such as reduced job satisfaction or mental illness.  The purpose of this study is to gain an understanding of insurance investigators experience of their work situation, where there is a risk of being exposed to threats and violence by clients, and what support the Swedish Social Insurance Agency as an organization can offer its employees. Moreover, the investigation has shown how the sense of context affects insurance investigators in their work. The purpose of this study is to contribute with new knowledge on how insurance investigators in the Swedish Social Insurance Agency can be affected by threats and violence at work. This study has implemented through semi-structured qualitative interviews with seven social workers from two different municipalities.  The results of the study shows that insurance investigators are not worried on their workplace regarding the risk of being exposed to threats and violence. This is because insurance investigators know that there is good support within the organization with clear routines. Furthermore, we have come to the conclusion that a consequence that some of our informants have suffered is that they have had shorter periods that have been difficult after a threat or violent incident
