Four species of Colydiinae (Zopheridae) are recorded from Malta of which Langelandia niticosta sp.n. is described as new. Bitoma rufula MOTSCHULSKY, 1863 is transferred to Microprius FAIRMAIRE, 1868. Microprius linearis (WOLLASTON, 1867), Synchitodes rufa REITTER, 1877 and Synchitodes frivaldszkyi REITTER, 1881 are synonymized with Microprius rufulus (MOTSCHULSKY, 1863). Microprius rufulus is recorded from Europe (Germany and Malta) for the first time.peer-reviewe

Pachystigmus Hellén, 1927 : a substitute name for Noserus Foerster, 1863 (Hymenoptera: Braconidae), not Noserus LeConte, 1862 (Coleoptera: Zopheridae)

By establishing the date of its first publication, Noserus Foerster, 1863 (Hymenoptera, Braconidae) is shown to be a junior primary homonym of Noserus LeConte, 1862 (Coleoptera, Zopheridae). The substitute name for Noserus Foerster is that of its subjective synonym, Pachystigmus Hellén, 1927 [type species: Pachystigmus nitidulus Hellén, 1927]. Other described species in the genus are: Pachystigmus facialis (Foerster, 1863) New Combination; P. similis (Szépligeti, 1896) New Combination, P. nitidulus Hellén, 1927, P. gigas (Tobias, 1964)New Combination, P. occipitalis (Belokobylskij, 1986) New Combination, P. olgensis (Belokobylskij, 1994) New Combination, and P. sculpturator (Belokobylskij, 1999) New Combination

New replacement names are proposed: Megapnosaurus Ivie, Slipinski and Wegrzynowicz NEW REPLACEMENT NAME for Syntarsus Raath 1969 (Ceratosauria: Coelophysidae), not Syntarsus Fairmaire 1869 (Coleoptera: Zopheridae: Colydiinae); and Stephaniolus Ivie, Slipinski and Wegrzynowicz NEW REPLACEMENT NAME for Pseudotaphrus Stephan 1989 (Coleoptera: Zopheridae: Colydiinae) not Pseudotaphrus Cossmann 1888 (Mollusca: Rissoiidae). These result in the new combinations Megapnosaurus rhodesiensis (Raath 1961) NEW COMBINATION, Megapnosaurus kayentalwtae (Rowe 1989) NEW COMBINATION and Stephanioh£s longus (Stephan 1989) NEW COMBINATION

This study represents a second step towards the project of A. Verdugo about «The biodiversity of Insecta in the Parque Natural de los Alcornocales» (Cádiz, Spain). Three new species for the Iberian Peninsula have been identified, belonging to the families Zopheridae, Corylophidae and Curculionidae. Two of the species are well known in Europe, while the third one seems to be the first reference for the European continent. Amasa resectus (Eggers, 1927) is an ambrosia beetle which might have a considerable economic impact. The most important features, distribution and biological traits of the new species are given

Zopherus chilensis Gray, 1932 (Coleoptera: Zopheridae), is a small size saproxylic beetle called “Maquech”. This Neotropical specie has peculiar connotations into Maya´s culture. In this paper we show the ornamental use of Z. chilensis and our ultimate goal is to claim for a comprehensive conservation of biodiversity of saproxylic beetles from México

Distribution of Verodes aequalis (Coleoptera: Zopheridae), a Poorly Known Species from Cloud Forests of Mexico

Verodes aequalis (Champion) was previously known only from its type locality (“Parada, Mexico”, likely close to Cerro San Felipe, Oaxaca, Mexico). We provide several new localities from the mountains of northern Oaxaca and neighboring Veracruz representing a major range extension. All specimens were captured in pine and pine-oak forests in the cloud zone above 2130 m asl.Peer reviewe
