Terminal sliding mode control strategy design for second-order nonlinear system

This study mainly focuses on the terminal sliding mode control (TSMC) strategy design, including an adaptive terminal sliding mode control (ATSMC) and an exact-estimator-based terminal sliding mode control (ETSMC) for second-order nonlinear dynamical systems. In the ATSMC system, an adaptive bound estimation for the lump uncertainty is proposed to ensure the system stability. On the other hand, an exact estimator is designed for exact estimating system uncertainties to solve the trouble of chattering phenomena caused by a sign function in ATSMC law in despite of the utilization of a fixed value or an adaptive tuning algorithm for the lumped uncertainty bound. The effectiveness of the proposed control schemes can be verified in numerical simulations.<br /

Closed-Loop Drive Detection and Diagnosis of Multiple Combined Faults in Induction Motor Through Model-Based and Neuro-Fuzzy Network Techniques

In this paper, a fault detection and diagnosis approach adopted for an input-output feedback linearization (IOFL) control of induction motor (IM) drive is proposed. This approach has been employed to detect and identify the simple and mixed broken rotor bars and static air-gap eccentricity faults right from the start its operation by utilizing advanced techniques. Therefore, two techniques are applied: the model-based strategy, which is an online method used to generate residual stator current signal in order to indicate the presence of possible failures by means of the sliding mode observer (SMO) in the closed-loop drive. However, this strategy is not able to recognise the fault types and it can be affected by the other disturbances. Therefore, the offline method using the multi-adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (MANAFIS) technique is proposed to identify the faults and distinguish them. However, the MANAFIS required a relevant database to achieve satisfactory results. Hence, the stator current analysis based on the HFFT combination of the Hilbert transform (HT) and Fast Fourier transform (FFT) is applied to extract the amplitude of harmonics due to defects occur and used them as an input data set for the MANFIS under different loads and fault severities. The simulation results show the efficiency of the proposed techniques and its ability to detect and diagnose any minor faults in a closed-loop drive of IM

Some Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) Sensorless Control Methods based on Operation Speed Area

    Get PDF
This paper compares some sensorless Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) controls for driving an electric vehicle in terms of operating speed. Sensorless control is a type of control method in which sensors, such as speed and position sensors, are not used to measure controlled variables.  The controlled variable value is estimated from the stator current measurement. Sensorless control performance is not as good as a sensor-based system. This paper aims are to recommend a control method for the PMSM sensorless controls that would be used to drive an electric vehicle. The methods that we will discuss are divided into four categories based on the operation speed area.  They are a startup, low speed, high speed, and low and high-speed areas. The low and high-speed area will be divided into with and without switching.  If PMSM more work at high speed, the most speed area that is used, we prefer to choose the method that works at high speed, that is, the modification or combination of two or more conventional methods

AC motors play a major role in modern industrial applications. Squirrel-cage induction motors (SCIMs) are probably the most frequently used when compared to other AC motors because of their low cost, ruggedness, and low maintenance. The material presented in this book is organized into four sections, covering the applications and structural properties of induction motors (IMs), fault detection and diagnostics, control strategies, and the more recently developed topology based on the multiphase (more than three phases) induction motors. This material should be of specific interest to engineers and researchers who are engaged in the modeling, design, and implementation of control algorithms applied to induction motors and, more generally, to readers broadly interested in nonlinear control, health condition monitoring, and fault diagnosis

This paper presents a wavelet neural network backstepping sliding mode controller (WNNBSSM) for permanent-magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) position servo control system. Backstepping sliding mode (BSSM) is utilized to guarantee favorable tracking performance and stability of the whole system, meanwhile, wavelet neural network (WNN) is used for approximating nonlinear uncertainties. The designed controller combined the merits of the backstepping sliding mode control with robust characteristics and the WNN owning the capability of artificial neural networks for online learning and the capability of wavelet decomposition for identification. An observed error compensator is developed to compensate the estimated error of the WNN and the adaptive law is derived according to Lyapunov theorem. The effectiveness of the proposed controller is investigated in simulation under different operating conditions. The simulation results demonstrate the proposed WNNBSSM controller can provide precise tracking performance and robust characteristics despite unknown parameter uncertainties and load disturbance. Moreover, an implemental wavemaker system is established to verify the effectiveness of the proposed control algorithm.U radu je predstavljen bacsktepping regulator u kliznom režimu rada za sustav upravljanja servo pozicioniranja motoromom s permanentnim magnetima (PMSM) zasnovan na valićnim neuronskim mrežama (WNNBSSM).

Wavelet-fuzzy speed indirect field oriented controller for three-phase AC motor drive – Investigation and implementation

    Get PDF
Three-phase voltage source inverter driven induction motor is used in many medium- and high-power applications. Precision in speed of the motor play vital role, i.e. popular methods of direct/indirect field-oriented control (FOC) are applied. FOC is employed with proportional–integral (P-I) or proportional–integral–derivative (P-I-D) controllers and they are not adaptive, since gains are fixed at all operating conditions. Therefore, it needs a robust speed controlling in precision for induction motor drive application. This research paper articulates a novel speed control for FOC induction motor drive based on wavelet-fuzzy logic interface system. In specific, the P-I-D controller of IFOC which is actually replaced by the wavelet-fuzzy controller. The speed feedback (error) signal is composed of multiple low and high frequency components. Further, these components are decomposed by the discrete wavelet transform and the fuzzy logic controller to generate the scaled gains for the indirect FOC induction motor. Complete model of the proposed ac motor drive is developed with numerical simulation Matlab/Simulink software and tested under different working conditions. For experimental verification, a hardware prototype was implemented and the control algorithm is framed using TMS320F2812 digital signal processor (dsp). Both simulation and hardware results presented in this paper are shown in close agreement and conformity about the suitability for industrial applications

A Nonlinear Sliding Mode Controller for IPMSM Drives with an Adaptive Gain Tuning Rule

    Get PDF
This paper presents a nonlinear sliding mode control (SMC) scheme with a variable damping ratio for interior permanent magnet synchronous motors (IPMSMs). First, a nonlinear sliding surface whose parameters change continuously with time is designed. Actually, the proposed SMC has the ability to reduce the settling time without an overshoot by giving a low damping ratio at the initial time and a high damping ratio as the output reaches the desired setpoint. At the same time, it enables a fast convergence in finite time and eliminates the singularity problem with the upper bound of an uncertain term, which cannot be measured in practice, by using a simple adaptation law. To improve the efficiency of a system in the constant torque region, the control system incorporates the maximum torque per ampere (MTPA) algorithm. The stability of the nonlinear sliding surface is guaranteed by Lyapunov stability theory. Moreover, a simple sliding mode observer is used to estimate the load torque and system uncertainties. The effectiveness of the proposed nonlinear SMC scheme is verified using comparative experimental results of the linear SMC scheme when the speed reference and load torque change under system uncertainties. From these experimental results, the proposed nonlinear SMC method reveals a faster transient response, smaller steady-state speed error, and less sensitivity to system uncertainties than the linear SMC metho

    Get PDF
[[abstract]]This paper presents an adaptive PI Hermite neural control (APIHNC) system for multi-input multi-output (MIMO) uncertain nonlinear systems. The proposed APIHNC system is composed of a neural controller and a robust compensator. The neural controller uses a three-layer Hermite neural network (HNN) to online mimic an ideal controller and the robust compensator is designed to eliminate the effect of the approximation error introduced by the neural controller upon the system stability in the Lyapunov sense. Moreover, a proportional–integral learning algorithm is derived to speed up the convergence of the tracking error. Finally, the proposed APIHNC system is applied to an inverted double pendulums and a two-link robotic manipulator. Simulation results verify that the proposed APIHNC system can achieve high-precision tracking performance. It should be emphasized that the proposed APIHNC system is clearly and easily used for real-time applications.[[notice]]補正完畢[[incitationindex]]SCI[[booktype]]紙本[[booktype]]電子
