    Constraining the Search Space in Temporal Pattern Mining

    Agents in dynamic environments have to deal with complex situations including various temporal interrelations of actions and events. Discovering frequent patterns in such scenes can be useful in order to create prediction rules which can be used to predict future activities or situations. We present the algorithm MiTemP which learns frequent patterns based on a time intervalbased relational representation. Additionally the problem has also been transfered to a pure relational association rule mining task which can be handled by WARMR. The two approaches are compared in a number of experiments. The experiments show the advantage of avoiding the creation of impossible or redundant patterns with MiTemP. While less patterns have to be explored on average with MiTemP more frequent patterns are found at an earlier refinement level

    Blood Pressure Non-Dipping and Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome: A Meta-Analysis

    AIM: We examined the reduced blood pressure (BP) nocturnal fall in patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) by a meta-analysis including studies that provided data on prevalence rates of non-dipping (ND) pattern during 24-h ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM). DESIGN: The PubMed, OVID-MEDLINE, and Cochrane CENTRAL literature databases were searched for appropriate articles without temporal restriction up to April 2019 through focused and sensitive search methods. Studies were identified by crossing the search terms as follows: "obstructive sleep apnea", "sleep quality", "non dipping", "reduced nocturnal BP fall", "circadian BP variation", "night-time BP", and "ambulatory blood pressure monitoring". RESULTS: Meta-analysis included 1562 patients with OSA from different clinical settings and 957 non-OSA controls from 14 studies. ND pattern prevalence in patients with OSA widely varied among studies (36.0-90.0%). This was also the case for non-OSA controls (33.0% to 69.0%). Overall, the ND pattern, assessed as an event rate in the pooled OSA population, was 59.1% (confidence interval (CI): 52.0-65.0%). Meta-analysis of the seven studies comparing the prevalence of ND pattern in participants with OSA and controls showed that OSA entails a significantly increased risk of ND (Odds ratio (OR) = 1.47, CI: 1.07-1.89, p < 0.01). After the exclusion of patients with mild OSA, OR increased to 1.67 (CI: 1.21-2.28, p < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: The present meta-analysis, extending previous information on the relationship between OSA and impaired BP dipping, based on single studies, suggests that this condition increases by approximately 1.5 times the likelihood of ND, which is a pattern associated with a greater cardiovascular risk than normal BP dipping

    This paper discusses the relationship of cultural participation in performing arts with the manifested interest. Using the data set from the Cultural Habits and Practices Survey 2018-2019 a binary probit model has been applied for the analysis. Emphasizing the role of aging in participation, especially for the group of the elderly and very old. The age variable is one of the most difficult variables to apprehend, in which the cohort effects, age itself and period should be considered. This paper is an approach to the study of the aging effect on cultural participation, which would be continued with the analysis of the Surveys in previous years.     This Article is segmented as follows: Part I provides an historical account of the temporal trajectory through which the Kohinoor diamond has evolved over the centuries. The exploration of the legality of repatriation begins in Part II, where it explains the structural difficulties presented by arguments that seek to justify the retention of cultural artifacts. This leads to the discussion of the existing international law framework in Part III. The background presented in these sections provides the foundation utilized to advance a theoretical framework that expands the definition of cultural artifacts to define the legal paradigm for the repatriation of cultural heritage. Finally, Part IV concludes with the affirmation that there is no place for the continuation of colonial blunders by refusing to repatriate cultural artifacts on account of commercial interests and faulty legal reasoning

    Parallel recognition and classification of objects

    The development of parallel algorithms for an automatic recognition and classification of objects from an industrial line (either production or packaging) is presented. This kind of problem introduces a temporal restriction on images processing, a parallel resolution being therefore required. We have chosen simple objects (fruits, eggs, etc.), which are classified according to characteristics such as shape, color, size, defects (stains, loss of color), etc. By means of this classification, objects can be sent, for example, to different sectors of the line. Algorithms parallelization on a heterogeneous computers network with a PVM (Parallel Virtual Machine) support is studied in this paper.     Method of Forming Recommendations Using Temporal Constraints in a Situation of Cyclic Cold Start of the Recommender System

    The problem of the formation of the recommended list of items in the situation of cyclic cold start of the recommendation system is considered. This problem occurs when building recommendations for occasional users. The interests of such consumers change significantly over time. These users are considered “cold” when accessing the recommendation system. A method for building recommendations in a cyclical cold start situation using temporal constraints is proposed. Temporal constraints are formed on the basis of the selection of repetitive pairs of actions for choosing the same objects at a given level of time granulation. Input data is represented by a set of user choice records. For each entry, a time stamp is indicated. The method includes the phases of the formation of temporal constraints, the addition of source data using these constraints, as well as the formation of recommendations using the collaborative filtering algorithm. The proposed method makes it possible, with the help of temporal constraints, to improve the accuracy of recommendations for “cold” users with periodic changes in their interests
