    Detector Based Calibration of a Portable Imaging Spectrometer for CLARREO Pathfinder Mission

    The Climate Absolute Refractivity and Reflectance Observatory (CLARREO) Pathfinder (CPF) mission is being developed to demonstrate SI-traceable retrievals of reflectance at unprecedented accuracies for global satellite observations. An Independent Calibration of the CPF sensor using the Goddard Laser for Absolute Measurement of Radiance (GLAMR) is planned to allow validation of CPF accuracies. GLAMR is a detector-based calibration system relies on a set of NIST-calibrated transfer radiometers to assess the spectral radiance from the GLAMR sphere source to better than 0.3 % (k=2). The current work describes the calibration of the Solar, Lunar Absolute Reflectance Imaging Spectroradiometer (SOLARIS) that was originally developed as a calibration demonstration system for the CLARREO mission and is now being used to assess the independent calibration being developed for CPF. The methodology for the radiometric calibration of SOLARIS is presented as well as results from the GLAMR-based calibration of SOLARIS. The portability of SOLARIS makes it capable of collecting field measurements of earth scenes and direct solar and lunar irradiance similar to those expected during the on-orbit operation of the CPF sensor. Results of SOLARIS field measurements are presented. The use of SOLARIS in this effort also allows the testing protocols for GLAMR to be improved and the field measurements by SOLARIS build confidence in the error budget for GLAMR calibrations. Results are compared to accepted solar irradiance models to demonstrate accuracy values giving confidence in the error budget for the CLARREO reflectance retrieval

    Influence of Pre-Fermentation Treatments on Wine Volatile and Sensory Profile of the New Disease Tolerant Cultivar Solaris.

    Solaris is a new disease tolerant cultivar increasingly cultivated in cool climate regions. In order to explore the winemaking processes' potential to make different styles of Solaris wines, the effects of different pre-fermentation treatments (direct press after crushing, whole cluster press, cold maceration, and skin fermentation) on the volatile profile, chemical, and sensory properties of Solaris wines were investigated. Cold maceration treatment for 24 h and fermentation on skin led to wines with lower acidity and higher glycerol and total polyphenol indexes. Sensory analysis showed that cold maceration enhanced "apricot" and "apple" flavor while skin fermentation gave rise to increased "rose" and "elderflower" flavor. The PLS regression model revealed that fruity flavor of cold macerated wines was related to a combination of esters while β-damascenone and linalool were correlated to the "rose" and "elderflower" flavor. This study provides information about pre-fermentation techniques that allowed the possibility of obtaining wines with different styles

    About the main psychological and philosophical aspects detached from the film Solaris directed by Andrei Tarkovski, as well as the cinema techniques used by the director to convey his messages to the spectator. In the "Introduction" I briefly present the relevant elements of Tarkovski's biography and an overview of Stanislav Lem's Solaris novel and the film Solaris directed by Andrei Tarkovsky. In "Cinema Technique" I talk about the specific rhythm of the scenes, the radical movement triggered by Tarkovsky in modern cinema, the role of symbolic and iconic elements, and affinities with the fantastic area of Russian literature. In Psychological Aspects I analyze the issue of communication in a human society of the future considered by Tarkovsky as rigid, the obsession of the house, and the personal evolution of Kris, Hari, and the relationships between them. In Philosophical Aspects, the film is analyzed through the philosophy of the mind (Cartesian dualism, reductionism and functionalism), the problem of personal identity, the theory of heterotopic spaces developed by Michel Foucault, and the semantic interpretations that can be deduced from the film. It also analyzes the issue of personal identity through Locke's philosophy. "Conclusions" show the general ideas of this essay, namely that Man's attempts to classify and maintain forms of interaction with unknown entities will always be condemned to failure and will reflect a major mistake in the panoptic world in which we live. In this framework of analysis of the philosophy of mind, functionalism seems to be the most intuitive. Solaris is, however, a movie that begins as a search for answers and comes to provide these answers with a whole range of different questions.     Brands are so important for the continuity of a business that it makes sense that they must be registered and trademark rights granted. Granting trademark rights helps prevent trademark infringement lawsuits or brand similarity incidents. Mks where the SOLARIA and SOLARIS brands have similar brand names, giving rise to disputes. Therefore, to avoid using the trademark on other parties, business actors are required to register the trademark. In this research, the main problem is how to resolve the trademark between SOLARIA and SOLARIS and what are the legal consequences of the issuance of a trademark rights certificate for Solaris regarding the exclusive rights owned by SOLARIA. This research is normative juridical research which is descriptive analysis, so that the data obtained is analyzed qualitatively using secondary data sources, so that it can be scientifically justified. The legal basis refers to Article 76 Paragraphs (1) and (3) in conjunction with Article 77 Paragraphs (1) and (2) Law Number 20 of 2016 concerning Marks and Geographical Indications. The results of the research on the resolution of the SOLARIA brand dispute as the Plaintiff with the SOLARIS brand refer to Law Number 20 of 2016 concerning Marks and Geographical Indications. This is based on the Plaintiff being the owner of the SOALRIA brand which was previously registered and has essentially the same thing as the SOLARIS brand and the legal consequences of the issuance of a brand rights certificate for SOLARIS regarding the exclusive rights owned by the SOLARIA brand, namely the Defendant's brand (SOLARIS) being canceled or abolished, the end of legal protection for the brand owned by the defendant (SOLARIS), the cancellation of the license agreement for the defendant brand (SOLARIS) and material and immaterial losses that the defendant must suffer

    Solar Polar Explorer Enabling Launch Technology

    To unlock mysteries of our sun, Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) and its propulsion system partner Northrop Grumman confronted the challenge of getting sensors to the sun for detailed observation on a limited budget. SwRI’s proposed Solaris mission paired a solar observatory with the Orion 38 and Orion 50 XLT Solid Rocket Motor (SRM)-based stages for a gravity-assisted slingshot maneuver around Jupiter. The NASA Heliophysics Medium Explorer (MIDEX) program selected Solaris in 2020 for a concept study that ran through 2022. Solaris aimed to conduct high-latitude observations of the Sun’s south and north regions to resolve our understanding of how their magnetic fields and flows effect the broader solar cycle. Solaris carried two primary sensors: a Compact Doppler Magnetograph (CDM); and a wide-field Solaris Extreme Ultraviolet Imager (S-EUVI). The proposal conformed to cost and launch vehicle parameters: a $250 million MIDEX mission cost cap and integration with one of three Designated Reference Launch Vehicles (DRLVs). The launch vehicle did not count toward the mission cost but the velocity-boosting upper stage motors did. The cost and technical tradeoffs resulting in Solaris being paired with the Orion 38 and Orion 50 XLT SRM-based stages are likely relevant to other cost-capped deep space missions
