    A compromise-based particle swarm optimization algorithm for solving Bi-level programming problems with fuzzy parameters

    © 2015 IEEE. Bi-level programming has arisen to handle decentralized decision-making problems that feature interactive decision entities distributed throughout a bi-level hierarchy. Fuzzy parameters often appear in such a problem in applications and this is called a fuzzy bi-level programming problem. Since the existing approaches lack universality in solving such problems, this study aims to develop a particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm to solve fuzzy bi-level programming problems in the linear and nonlinear versions. In this paper, we first present a general fuzzy bi-level programming problem and discuss related theoretical properties based on a fuzzy number ranking method commonly used. A PSO algorithm is then developed to solve the fuzzy bi-level programming problem based on different compromised selections by decision entities on the feasible degree for constraint conditions under fuzziness. Lastly, an illustrative numerical example and two benchmark examples are adopted to state the effectiveness of the compromise-based PSO algorithm

    Possibilistic Aggregate Production Planning Considering Dynamic Workforce with Fuzzy Demand

    This Aggregate Production Planning (APP) is a combination of Possibilistic Linear Programming (PLP), Fuzzy Goal Programming (FGP), and the Perfume Accounting System (PAS) to maximize profit. APP involves strategic decisions on Production levels, Inventory management, and Resource allocation to meet client demand while maximizing profit. Traditional planning models face significant challenges due to the uncertainties and complexities inherent in real world production environments. In this paper, there is an integration of PLP, Fuzzy Goal Programing, and throughput accounting system to overcome these challenges. At the very end of the paper, based on the data received from the company, the derived findings were by using Lingo Version 18 software. The model includes possibility distributions of the input parameters. Decision-makers can take into account the uncertainty and imprecision in demand forecasts and dynamic workforce in maximizing profit while taking into account risk tolerance

    Imprecise WareHouse Space in Aggregate Production Planning Using Fuzzy Goal Programming

    Considering the fluctuating market demands with variable storage capacity and available production capacity, this study examines a number of workable techniques for modeling multiproduct aggregate production planning problems with fuzzy numbers. The suggested method makes use of factors including; inventory levels, labor levels, overtime, backordering levels, workforce capacity, machine capacity, and fuzzy warehouse capacity in an effort to reduce operating costs, reduce production waste, and increase capacity utilization rate. With the aid of this formulation and interpretation, a fuzzy multiproduct aggregate production planning model is developed. Finally, the study's conclusions were arrived at using information provided by Rich Pharmaceuticals Ltd. using Lingo version 18 software (RPL).and it uses parametric programming, best balancing, and interactive techniques to give solutions that can be adjusted to fit a variety of decision-making circumstances

    Fuzzy goal programming for material requirements planning under uncertainty and integrity conditions

Lack of knowledge or epistemic uncertainty is considered in the demand, available and required capacity data. Integrity conditions for the main decision variables of the problem are also considered. For the solution methodology, we use a fuzzy goal programming approach where the importance of the relations among the goals is considered fuzzy instead of using a crisp definition of goal weights.     Carbon efficiency evaluation:an analytical framework using fuzzy DEA

    Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is a powerful analytical technique for measuring the relative efficiency of alternatives based on their inputs and outputs. The alternatives can be in the form of countries who attempt to enhance their productivity and environmental efficiencies concurrently. However, when desirable outputs such as productivity increases, undesirable outputs increase as well (e.g. carbon emissions), thus making the performance evaluation questionable. In addition, traditional environmental efficiency has been typically measured by crisp input and output (desirable and undesirable). However, the input and output data, such as CO2 emissions, in real-world evaluation problems are often imprecise or ambiguous. This paper proposes a DEA-based framework where the input and output data are characterized by symmetrical and asymmetrical fuzzy numbers. The proposed method allows the environmental evaluation to be assessed at different levels of certainty. The validity of the proposed model has been tested and its usefulness is illustrated using two numerical examples. An application of energy efficiency among 23 European Union (EU) member countries is further presented to show the applicability and efficacy of the proposed approach under asymmetric fuzzy numbers

    Reverse Logistics Network Design with a 3-Phase Interactive Intuitionistic Fuzzy Goal Programming Approach: A Case Study of Covid-19 in Pathum Thani, Thailand

    During outbreaks, a vast quantity of Infected Medical Waste (IMW) can be substantially generated in a short period, which poses a massive risk to medical personnel and surrounding communities. This study proposes an Intuitionistic Fuzzy Multi-Objective Multi-Period Mixed-Integer Linear Programming (IFMOMILP) model for effective IMW management in outbreaks under uncertainty, considering financial and risk factors subject to a priority from Decision Makers (DMs). The primary emphasis is on determining the optimal locations and capacity levels for temporary facilities, including temporary storage and treatment centers, as well as the optimal transportation routes. A 3-phase interactive Intuitionistic Fuzzy Goal Programming (i-IFGP) approach is developed to solve this IFMOMILP model. First, the Jiménez approach is applied to handle the uncertainties. Then, the problem is solved by Intuitionistic Fuzzy Goal Programming (IFGP). An actual case study of the COVID-19 outbreak in Pathum Thani province in Thailand was carried out to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach. The proposed approach yields solutions with varying feasibility degrees and scaling factors, providing alternatives for DMs. Then, the score function is utilized to imply DMs’ satisfaction with the outcomes, which is a concrete measure since it can reflect the intention of the DMs

    A Multiobjective Programming Method for Ranking All Units Based on Compensatory DEA Model

    In order to rank all decision making units (DMUs) on the same basis, this paper proposes a multiobjective programming (MOP) model based on a compensatory data envelopment analysis (DEA) model to derive a common set of weights that can be used for the full ranking of all DMUs. We first revisit a compensatory DEA model for ranking all units, point out the existing problem for solving the model, and present an improved algorithm for which an approximate global optimal solution of the model can be obtained by solving a sequence of linear programming. Then, we applied the key idea of the compensatory DEA model to develop the MOP model in which the objectives are to simultaneously maximize all common weights under constraints that the sum of efficiency values of all DMUs is equal to unity and the sum of all common weights is also equal to unity. In order to solve the MOP model, we transform it into a single objective programming (SOP) model using a fuzzy programming method and solve the SOP model using the proposed approximation algorithm.     A Multi-Objective Fuzzy Approach to Closed-Loop Supply Chain Network Design with Regard to Dynamic Pricing

    During the last decade, reverse logistics networks received a considerable attention due to economic importance and environmental regulations and customer awareness. Integration of leading and reverse logistics networks during logistical network design is one of the most important factors in supply chain. In this research, an Integer Linear Programming model is presented to design a multi-layer reverse-leading, multi-product, and multi-period integrated logistics network by considering multi-capacity level for facilities under uncertainty condition. This model included three objectives: maximizing profit, minimizing delay of goods delivering to customer, and minimizing returned raw material from suppliers. This research gives financial incentives to encourage customers in order to return their used product. Considering that the remaining value of used products is the main incentive of a company to buy second-handed goods, a dynamic pricing approach is determined to define purchase price for these types of products, and based on that, the percentage of returned products were collected by customers. In addition, in this study, parameters have uncertainty features and are vague; therefore, at first, they are converted into exact parameters and, then, because model is multi-objective, the fuzzy mathematical programming approach is used to convert multi-objective model into a single objective; finally, the model by version 8 of Lingo is run. In order to solve a large-sized model, a non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm II (NSGA-II) was applied.     An integrated approach to value chain analysis of end of life aircraft treatment

    Dans cette thèse, on propose une approche holistique pour l’analyse, la modélisation et l’optimisation des performances de la chaîne de valeur pour le traitement des avions en fin de vie (FdV). Les recherches réalisées ont débouché sur onze importantes contributions. Dans la première contribution, on traite du contexte, de la complexité, de la diversité et des défis du recyclage d’avions en FdV. La seconde contribution traite du problème de la prédiction du nombre de retraits d’avions et propose une approche intégrée pour l’estimation de ce nombre de retraits. Le troisième et le quatrième articles visent à identifier les parties prenantes, les valeurs perçues par chaque partenaire et indiquent comment cette valeur peut affecter les décisions au stade de la conception. Les considérations relatives à la conception et à la fabrication ont donné lieu à quatre contributions importantes. La cinquième contribution traite des défis et opportunités pouvant résulter de l’application des concepts de la chaîne logistique verte, pour les manufacturiers d’avions. Dans la sixième contribution, un outil d’aide à la décision a été développé pour choisir la stratégie verte qui optimise les performances globales de de toute la chaîne de valeur en tenant compte des priorités et contraintes de chaque partenaire. Dans la septième contribution, un modèle mathématique est proposé pour analyser le choix stratégique des manufacturiers en réponse aux directives en matière de FdV de produits comme le résultat des interactions des compétiteurs dans le marché. La huitième contribution porte sur les travaux réalisés dans le cadre d’un stage chez le constructeur d’avions, Bombardier. Cette dernière traite de l’apport de « l’analyse du cycle de vie » au stade de la conception d’avions. La neuvième contribution introduit une méthodologie d’analyse de la chaîne de valeur dans un contexte de développement durable. Finalement, les dixième et onzième contributions proposent une approche holistique pour le traitement des avions en FdV en intégrant les concepts du « lean », du développement durable et des contraintes et opportunités inhérentes à la mondialisation des affaires. Un modèle d’optimisation intégrant les modèles d’affaires, les stratégies de désassemblage et les structures du réseau qui influencent l’efficacité, la stabilité et l’agilité du réseau de récupération est proposé. Dealing with retired aircrafts considering the environmental, social and economic impacts is becoming an emerging problem in the aviation industry in near future. This thesis seeks to develop a holistic approach in order to analyze the value chain of EOL aircraft treatment in the context of sustainable development. The performed researches have led to eleven main contributions. In the first contribution, the complexity and diversity of the EOL aircraft recycling including the challenges and problem context are discussed. The second contribution addresses the challenges for estimation of retired aircrafts and proposes an integrated approach for prediction of EOL aircrafts. The third and fourth contributions aim to identify the players involved in EOL recycling context, values perceived by different shareholders and formulate that how such value can affect design decisions. Design stage consideration and manufacture’s issues are discussed and have led to four main contributions. The fifth contribution addresses the opportunities and challenges of applying green supply chain for aircraft manufacturers. In the sixth contribution, a decision tool is developed to aid manufactures in early stage of design for their green strategy choices. In the seventh contribution, a mathematical model is developed in order to analyze the strategic choice of manufacturers in response to EOL directives as the result of the interaction of competitors in the market. An internship project has been also performed in Bombardier and led to the eighth contribution, which addresses life cycle approach and incorporating the sustainability in early stage of design of aircraft. The ninth contribution introduces a methodology for analyzing the value chain in the context of sustainable development. Finally, the tenth and eleventh contributions propose a holistic approach to EOL aircraft treatment considering lean principals, sustainable development, and global business environment. An optimization model is developed to support decision making in both strategic and managerial level. The analytical approaches, decision tools and step by step guidelines proposed in this thesis will aid decision makers to identify appropriate strategies for the EOL aircraft treatment in the sustainable development context.
