Properties of convergence of a class of iterative processes generated by sequences of self-mappings with applications to switched dynamic systems

This article investigates the convergence properties of iterative processes involving sequences of self-mappings of metric or Banach spaces. Such sequences are built from a set of primary self-mappings which are either expansive or non-expansive self-mappings and some of the non-expansive ones can be contractive including the case of strict contractions. The sequences are built subject to switching laws which select each active self-mapping on a certain activation interval in such a way that essential properties of boundedness and convergence of distances and iterated sequences are guaranteed. Applications to the important problem of stability of dynamic switched systems are also given. The authors are very grateful to the Spanish Government for Grant DPI2012-30651 and to the Basque Government and UPV/EHU for Grants IT378-10, SAIOTEK S-PE13UN039 and UFI 2011/07. Generalized Cyclic p-Contractions and p-Contraction Pairs Some Properties of Asymptotic Regularity Best Proximity Points, Fixed Points

This paper studies a general p-contractive condition of a self-mapping T on X, where (X ,d) is either a metric space or a dislocated metric space, which combines the contribution to the upper-bound of d(Tx , Ty), where x and y are arbitrary elements in X of a weighted combination of the distances d(x,y) , d(x,Tx),d(y,Ty),d(x,Ty),d(y,Tx), |d(x,Tx)−d(y,Ty)| and |d(x,Ty)−d(y,Tx)|. The asymptotic regularity of the self-mapping T on X and the convergence of Cauchy sequences to a unique fixed point are also discussed if (X,d) is complete. Subsequently, (T, S) generalized cyclic p-contraction pairs are discussed on a pair of non-empty, in general, disjoint subsets of X. The proposed contraction involves a combination of several distances associated with the (T, S)-pair. Some properties demonstrated are: (a) the asymptotic convergence of the relevant sequences to best proximity points of both sets is proved; (b) the best proximity points are unique if the involved subsets are closed and convex, the metric is norm induced, or the metric space is a uniformly convex Banach space. It can be pointed out that both metric and a metric-like (or dislocated metric) possess the symmetry property since their respective distance values for any given pair of elements of the corresponding space are identical after exchanging the roles of both elements. This research was funded by Basq ue Government, Grant number IT1555-22

Theory and Application of Fixed Point

In the past few decades, several interesting problems have been solved using fixed point theory. In addition to classical ordinary differential equations and integral equation, researchers also focus on fractional differential equations (FDE) and fractional integral equations (FIE). Indeed, FDE and FIE lead to a better understanding of several physical phenomena, which is why such differential equations have been highly appreciated and explored. We also note the importance of distinct abstract spaces, such as quasi-metric, b-metric, symmetric, partial metric, and dislocated metric. Sometimes, one of these spaces is more suitable for a particular application. Fixed point theory techniques in partial metric spaces have been used to solve classical problems of the semantic and domain theory of computer science. This book contains some very recent theoretical results related to some new types of contraction mappings defined in various types of spaces. There are also studies related to applications of the theoretical findings to mathematical models of specific problems, and their approximate computations. In this sense, this book will contribute to the area and provide directions for further developments in fixed point theory and its applications

On contractive cyclic fuzzy maps in metric spaces and some related results on fuzzy best proximity points and fuzzy fixed points

This paper investigates some properties of cyclic fuzzy maps in metric spaces. The convergence of distances as well as that of sequences being generated as iterates defined by a class of contractive cyclic fuzzy mapping to fuzzy best proximity points of (non-necessarily intersecting adjacent subsets) of the cyclic disposal is studied. An extension is given for the case when the images of the points of a class of contractive cyclic fuzzy mappings restricted to a particular subset of the cyclic disposal are allowed to lie either in the same subset or in its next adjacent one.The first author thanks the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness for partial support of this work through Grant DPI2012-30651. On Some Relations between Accretive, Positive, and Pseudocontractive Operators and Passivity Results in Hilbert Spaces and Nonlinear Dynamic Systems

This paper investigates some parallel relations between the operators (I-G) and G in Hilbert spaces in such a way that the pseudocontractivity, asymptotic pseudocontractivity, and asymptotic pseudocontractivity in the intermediate sense of one of them are equivalent to the accretivity, asymptotic accretivity, and asymptotic accretivity in the intermediate sense of the other operator. If the operators are self-adjoint then the obtained accretivity-type properties are also passivity-type properties. Such properties are very relevant in stability theory since they refer to global stability properties of passive feed-forward, in general, nonlinear, and time-varying controlled systems controlled via feedback by elements in a very general class of passive, in general, nonlinear, and time-varying controllers. These results allow the direct generalization of passivity results in controlled dynamic systems to wide classes of tandems of controlled systems and their controllers, described by G-operators, and their parallel interpretations as pseudocontractive properties of their counterpart (I-G)-operators. Some of the obtained results are also directly related to input-passivity, output-passivity, and hyperstability properties in controlled dynamic systems. Some illustrative examples are also given in the framework of dynamic systems described by extended square-integrable input and output signals. The author is very grateful to the Spanish Government and European Fund of Regional Development FEDER for Grant DPI2015-64766-R and to UPV/EHU for Grant PGC 17/33

Convexity and boundedness relaxation for fixed point theorems in modular spaces

[EN] Although fixed point theorems in modular spaces have remarkably applied to a wide variety of mathematical problems, these theorems strongly depend on some assumptions which often do not hold in practice or can lead to their reformulations as particular problems in normed vector spaces. A recent trend of research has been dedicated to studying the fundamentals of fixed point theorems and relaxing their assumptions with the ambition of pushing the boundaries of fixed point theory in modular spaces further. In this paper, we focus on convexity and boundedness of modulars in fixed point results taken from the literature for contractive correspondence and single-valued mappings. To relax these two assumptions, we seek to identify the ties between modular and b-metric spaces. Afterwards we present an application to a particular form of integral inclusions to support our generalized version of Nadler’s theorem in modular spaces. The authors gratefully acknowledge the reviewer and the editor for their useful observations and recommendations.Lael, F.; Shabanian, S. Convergence properties and fixed points of two general iterative schemes with composed maps in banach spaces with applications to guaranteed global stability

    Get PDF
This paper investigates the boundedness and convergence properties of two general iterative processes which involve sequences of self-mappings on either complete metric or Banach spaces. The sequences of self-mappings considered in the first iterative scheme are constructed by linear combinations of a set of self-mappings, each of them being a weighted version of a certain primary self-mapping on the same space. The sequences of self-mappings of the second iterative scheme are powers of an iteration-dependent scaled version of the primary self-mapping. Some applications are also given to the important problem of global stability of a class of extended nonlinear polytopic-type parameterizations of certain dynamic systems
