Dále se první část věnuje způsobu sdílení dat a tiskáren v počítačové síti a možnosti přihlašování do takovéto sítě pomocí Novell klienta. Druhá část je zaměřena na praktickou realizaci takovéhoto serveru pomocí zvoleného systému a potřebných aplikací. Je zde popsán podrobně postup pro instalaci a zprovoznění všech potřebných aplikací.The thesis Realization of Multipurpose System on the base of Linux is focused on the selection of suitable distribution of GNU/Linux system for all commonly accessible network services provided by servers and for implementation of suitable authorization process for one server. The first part of the Bachelor thesis acquaints the reader with different operating systems, and their mutual comparison. There are also in detail examined open-source technologies used for HTTP, FTP or mail server services. Further the first part describes the way of sharing data and printers in the network and a possibility of log in the Network by means of Novell client. Second part is focused on practical realization of this server by selected system and by needed applications. There is also in detail described the process of instalation and launching all needed applications.

The purpose of this research is to implement Server Web Hosting based Linux Ubuntu in Computer System/network of Elementary School 15 (SDN 15) Pangkalpinang, because there is not available of Computer Server Web Hosting as storage media of website based application and school website at Elementary School 15 Pangkalpinang, makes the school wants to create a unit of Server Web Hosting. The research methods of this thesis is analitic method and design method where at analitic method , writer analyzes the needs and with the analysis writer designs the steps to be done. Then , kind of this research is applied research, it means to give solution of a certain problem practically and to support development activities or implementation of a system , such as database, programming language, network concept. In order that project implementation is on time , so project model is used. The result of this is Server Web Hosting which can give services like DNS Server, FTP Server, File Server, Mail Server that can be accessed by clients through certain links. The conclusion, after server is implementatied can facilitate every one to access any informations from Elementary School 15 fast and easily anytime

This project work is about setting up a server for the Electronics and computer Lab of the ECET department. The current server used in this lab runs OpenBSD 3.3. OpenBSD is a Unix-like operating system which offers services such as mail server, web server, ftp server, DNS server, router, firewall, or NFS file server. However this version of openBSD is obsolete and several versions has been developed over the years, the recent version is openBSD 5.6. Furthermore, openBSD has no graphic user interface (GUI). It accepts and processes command through the command line interface. Hence, it can be defined as not being so user friendly. Zentyal is a variant of Linux operating system. It is to be used in this project as a server for the ECET lab. Zentyal offers same functions as OpenBSD and much more. This variant of Linux was chosen because it is free and more user friendly. It has a graphic user interface and also has a well-integrated management tools. It will serve as a gateway between the computers in the lab and the BGSU wireless network and also as a file server for the ECET lab. The Zentyal server hardware also uses a wireless network interface card to connect to the BGSU network, thereby providing more flexibility in connection. The phases of this project involve obtaining the needed hardware and installation of the Zentyal operation system. Putting all the computers of the ECET lab on one network (LAN network) and connecting to the server. The server will serve as a gateway (router) to the internet through the BGSU network. Other functionalities Zentyal operating system offers is going to be explored such as Network address translation (NAT) and Firewall

Blocking Java Applets at the Firewall

This paper explores the problem of protecting a site on the Internet against hostile external Java applets while allowing trusted internal applets to run. With careful implementation, a site can be made resistant to current Java security weaknesses as well as those yet to be discovered. In addition, we describe a new attack on certain sophisticated firewalls that is most effectively realized as a Java applet

Evaluation of an Internet Document Delivery Service

An Internet-based Document Delivery Service (DDS) has been developed within the framework of the CNR ( the Italian Research National Council) Project BiblioMIME, in order to take advantage of new Internet technologies and promote cooperation among CNR and Italian university libraries. Adopting such technologies changes the traditional organisation of DDS and may drastically reduce costs and delivery times. An information system managing DDS requests and monitoring the temporal evolution of the service has been implemented, running on the local-area network of a test-site library. It aims to track number and types of documents requested and received, user distribution, delivery times and types (surface mail, fax, Internet), to automate repetitive manual procedures and to deal with the various accounting methods used by other libraries. Transmission of documents is carried out by means of an e-mail/Web gateway system supporting document exchange via Internet, which assists receiving libraries in retrieving requested documents. This paper describes the architecture and main design features of the e-mail/Web gateway server (the BiblioMime server). This approach permits librarians to continue using e-mail service to send large documents, while resolving problems that users may encounter when downloading large size files with e-mail agents. The library operator sends the document as an attachment to the destination address; on fly the e-mail server extracts and saves the attachments in a web-server disk file and substitutes them with a new message part that includes an URL pointing to the saved document. The receiver can download these large objects by means of a user-friendly browser. We further discuss the data gathered during the triennium 1998-2000; this consists of about 5,000 DDS transactions per annum with 300 other Italian scientific and bio-medical libraries and commercial document suppliers. Use of the instruments described above allowed us to evaluate the performance of service “before” and “after” the use of Internet Document Delivery and to extract some critical data regarding DDS. Those include: a) libraries with which we have greater numbers of exchanges and their turnaround times; b) extraordinary reduction in costs and delivery times; c) the most frequently requested serial titles (allowing cost-effective decisions on new subscriptions); d) impact on DDS of library participation in consortia which allow user access to greater numbers of online serials

Emergency TeleOrthoPaedics m-health system for wireless communication links

    Get PDF
For the first time, a complete wireless and mobile emergency TeleOrthoPaedics system with field trials and expert opinion is presented. The system enables doctors in a remote area to obtain a second opinion from doctors in the hospital using secured wireless telecommunication networks. Doctors can exchange securely medical images and video as well as other important data, and thus perform remote consultations, fast and accurately using a user friendly interface, via a reliable and secure telemedicine system of low cost. The quality of the transmitted compressed (JPEG2000) images was measured using different metrics and doctors opinions. The results have shown that all metrics were within acceptable limits. The performance of the system was evaluated successfully under different wireless communication links based on real data
