Ilmu Perpustakaan mempunyai kaitan dengan Ilmu Informasi. Bahkan Ilmu Perpustakaan juga menjadi jurusan, bagian, konsentrasi, ataupun minat dari Ilmu Informasi. An Interdisciplinary Encounter Between Two Knowledge Domains: Library and Information Science vs Knowledge Management

The main purpose of this study is to develop a framework of the interdisciplinary encounter between two knowledge domains. The study adopted a case analysis of library and information science’s (LIS) encounter with knowledge management (KM). It examines the views of LIS academics and practitioners regarding their awareness of KM concepts, their responses to KM, factors influencing them to respond to KM, and issues related to the incorporation of KM into LIS. LIS has incorporated the core content of KM based on the combination of varying proportions of major perspectives and skill-sets of KM. It follows a partial adoption process through mutual borrowing of knowledge between LIS and KM. The findings suggest that LIS has encountered KM through recognizing KM, responding to it, and renovating the existing structure of LIS. Thus, the paper proposes a 3R model of the interdisciplinary encounter between two knowledge domains, where ‘R’ stands for Recognizing, Responding and Renovating. The model is original in nature broadening its scope from LIS and KM to the generalization of other disciplines. Finally, the paper provides some suggestions for the better integration of KM education and practice in LIS. Like a Hurricane: A Citation Analysis of Emergency Management Scholarly Literature

This bibliometric study used citation analysis to uncover citing characteristics in the burgeoning academic field of emergency management. Of the 281 degree programs listed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency nationwide, those at community colleges accounted for 17 percent of the total. Using the interdisciplinary database of Academic Search Complete, a sample of 5,099 citations was collected from 146 articles published between 2002 and 2012. The most strongly represented disciplines revealed by the analysis were Social Science, Science/Technology and Medicine. A majority of citations (45%) came from academic journals, with nearly half (44%) of those from Social Science. When citing outside of their discipline, medical and science/technology journals cited most often from Social Science, 70% and 12%, respectively. This study also finds the 20 most frequently cited journals, which will be of help to collection development and subject librarians

Desvendando as relações de outras disciplinas com ciência da informação: avaliação a partir da perspectiva internacional

This article aimed to investigate in the scientific literature the use of knowledge produced by international information science by researchers from other scientific areas. The research was conducted in two stages. The data analyzed in the first stage came from a study of citations to articles in the area of information science from the international sphere published between 1997 and 2016. Web of Science was used to gather this data. In the second stage, aiming to determine the type of relationship (multi, inter or transdisciplinary) established between citations from other disciplines and information science, a quantitative analysis was performed in a convenience non-probabilistic sample of 15% of the citations of other disciplines to works from international information science identified in the first stage. Furthermore, in the sample used in the second stage, for works of citations that showed properties indicating that research was built on the basis of an interdisciplinary relationship, a qualitative analysis was performed to determine if they were uni, inter, multi or transdisciplinary in nature. As a main result it should be highlighted that there was a growing trend of citations of international information science papers by other scientific areas. This fact may demonstrate that mondial information science has advanced theoretically and methodologically in the last 20 years. Additionally, results show an expressive use of mondial information science knowledge by the other areas of knowledge which could indicate a potential interdisciplinary relationship of other disciplines with international information science. However, this potential interdisciplinary relationship was not confirmed by the quantitative and qualitative analysis performed in the second stage of the research.O objetivo geral do artigo é investigar na literatura científica o uso do conhecimento produzido pela ciência da informação internacional por pesquisadores das demais áreas científicas. A pesquisa é realizada em duas etapas. Os dados analisados na primeira etapa são provenientes de uma análise de citações a artigos da área de ciência da informação do cenário internacional publicados entre 1997 e 2016 e presentes na Web of Science. Na segunda etapa, com o objetivo de determinar o tipo de relação (multi, inter ou transdisciplinar) estabelecida entre as citações de outras disciplinas e a ciência da informação, é realizada análise quantitativa em uma amostra não-probabilística por conveniência de 15% das citações de outras disciplinas a trabalhos provenientes da ciência da informação internacional identificados na primeira etapa. Ainda na amostra utilizada na segunda etapa, para os trabalhos das citações que apresentam propriedades indicativas de serem pesquisas construídas a base de uma relação interdisciplinar, é realizada uma análise qualitativa para determinar se elas são de natureza uni, inter, multi ou transdisciplinar. Como principais resultados destacam-se: a observação de uma tendência de crescimento das citações dos trabalhos internacionais da área pelas demais áreas do conhecimento científico, esse fato pode demonstrar que a ciência da informação internacional tem avançado teórica e metodologicamente de modo sistemático nesses últimos 20 anos; a verificação de uma expressiva utilização do conhecimento da ciência da informação internacional pelas demais áreas do conhecimento, indicando uma potencial relação interdisciplinar de outras disciplinas com a ciência da informação internacional. Evaluación de la actividad científica en ciencia de la información a partir de indicadores bibliométricos y altmétricos

La presente investigación es un análisis de la producción científica en Ciencia de la Informacion (CI), fundamentada en el contexto epistemológico e histórico de la disciplina, para identificar las tendencias de uso de la información en plataformas de publicación formales e informales. A partir de la implementación de indicadores bibliométricos e indicadores alternativos, se pretende establecer. ¿Como la integración de indicadores altimétricos en la evaluación científica, posibilita la identificación de tendencias en la investigación disciplinar? Y si es valido afirmar, que la altmetría es una herramienta confiable y útil para la evaluación de los dominios científicos. Se toma como referente la producción visible en Web of Science durante el periodo 2012- 2016, para identificar las dinámicas científicas de investigación en la CI, a partir de una muestra de 1224 registros en los cuales se utilizan indicadores bibliometricos de producción, citación o impacto e indicadores altimétricos recuperados de las plataformas ResearchGate (RG) y Plum Analytics (PlumX). Los resultados evidencian que los indicadores alternativos aun están en periodo de desarrollo y necesitan normalización; de lo cual se concluye, que la evaluación científica requiere la complementación de modelos métricos clásicos junto a métricas alternativas que permitan identificar las dinámicas sociales y de comunicación que se generan en la comunidad científica más allá del impacto y la citación.This research is an analysis of the scientific activity in Information Science (CI), based on the epistemological and historical context of the discipline, to identify trends in the use of information in formal and informal publishing platforms. Based on the implementation of bibliometric iand alternative indicators, it is intended to establish: How does the integration of altmetric indicators in scientific evaluation make it possible to identify trends in disciplinary research? And, if it is valid to say that altmetrics is a reliable and useful tool for the scientific evaluation of scientific domains. Visible production in Web of Science during the 2012-2016 period is taken as a reference to identify the scientific dynamics of research in the CI, from a sample of 1224 records in which bibliometric indicators of production, citation or impact and altmetric indicators recovered from the ResearchGate (RG) and Plum Analytics (PlumX) platforms are used. The results show that the alternative indicators are still under development and need to be standardized; from which it is concluded that scientific evaluation requires the complementing of classical metric models with alternative metrics that allow identifying the social and communication dynamics generated in the scientific community beyond the impact and citation.Profesional en Ciencia de la Información - Bibliotecólogo (a)Pregrad

Internazionalizzazione e vitalità degli studi italiani nelle discipline del libro e del documento: analisi critica e sperimentazione di strumenti bibliometrici

La ricerca si propone di analizzare il livello di internazionalizzazione e di vitalità degli studi italiani nelle discipline del libro e del documento. La vitalità di un settore scientifico è normalmente attestata dalla ricaduta che le ricerche e le pubblicazioni hanno sulla comunità degli studiosi che la praticano e, quindi, sullo sviluppo della disciplina stessa e delle sue metodologie. Il grado di ‘salute’ di un campo di studio, nonché la sua capacita di uscire fuori dalla propria nicchia di studiosi e di vedere riconosciuta la propria validità, si misura, infatti, analizzando se e in quale misura i lavori vengano letti, commentati, citati da studiosi di altri contesti geografici e/o di altri rami scientifici. Come noto, esistono settori forti e altamente vitali, i cui risultati influenzano altri campi del sapere ed è di grande interesse individuare le modalità con cui questo fenomeno si produce e tentare di misurarne l’estensione. Nel caso di materie con un elevato contenuto normativo e metodologico – le cosiddette “discipline ombrello” – come la Library and information science (LIS), l’individuazione e l’eventuale misurazione della sua influenza su studiosi e aree esterne al proprio campo specifico sono ancora più interessanti, in quanto segnali di rilevanza e di riconoscimento del terreno di studio. Il focus di questa ricerca consiste nell'esaminare, innanzitutto, in quale misura il settore biblioteconomico italiano sia rappresentato nelle fonti deputate e presente a livello internazionale nei lavori di ambito LIS stranieri. Lo strumento con cui è stata portata avanti questa indagine è offerto da un’area del nostro campo rilevante per gli studiosi di tutte le discipline scientifiche, ossia la bibliometria
