    Support vector machine-based object classification for robot arm system

    In this paper, a support vector machine (SVM) model is trained to classify objects in the automatic sorting system using a robot arm. The robot arm is used to grab objects and move them to the right position according to their shape predicted by the SVM model. The position of objects in the image is identified by using the contouring technique. The centroid of objects is calculated from the image moment of the object's contour. The calibration is conducted to get the parameters of the camera and combine with the pinhole camera model to compute the 3D position of the objects. The feature vector for SVM training is the zone feature and the SVM kernel is the Gaussian kernel. In the experiment, the SVM model is used to classify four objects with different shapes. The results show that the accuracy of the SVM classifier is 99.72%, 99.4%, 99.4% and 99.88% for four objects, respectively

For nonpolar optical and polar optical phonons,the magneto-conductivity oscillates as a function of the magneticfield with resonances occurring when Pωc=ω0P\omega_c=\omega_0, whereωc\omega_c and ω0\omega_0 are cyclotron frequency and optical phononfrequency, respectively, and where PP is an integer. The analyticresults are numerically evaluated to show explicitly the dependenceof magneto-conductivity on the magnetic field, the confinementfrequency in zz direction, and the temperature of the system

    Whole-genome sequencing of three local rice varieties (Oryza sativa L.) in Vietnam

    Recently, a new technology, Next-generation sequencing (NGS) has been launched and providing whole-genome sequences that helps identify molecular markers across the genome. DNA markers such as single nucleotides and insertion – deletion (InDel) polymorphisms were widely used for plant breeding particularly to distinguish important traits in rice. These PCR-based markers can be used for the precision detection of polymorphisms. Moreover, PCR-based approaches are simple and effective methods for dealing with the issue of fraudulent labeling and adulteration in the global rice industry. In this study, three local varieties of Oryza sativa L. in Vietnam were sequenced with up to ten times genome depth and at least four times coverage (~83%) using the Illumina HiSeq2000™ system, with an average of 6.5 GB clean data per sample, generated after filtering low-quality data. The data was approximately mapped up to 95% to the reference genome IRGSP 1.0. The results obtained from this study will contribute to a wide range of valuable information for further investigation into this germplasm

    Design a low-cost delta robot arm for pick and place applications based on computer vision

    In this paper, we develop a low-cost delta robot arm for grasping objects of unspecified size thanks to a vision system. Stepper motors are used instead of ac servo motors to build a low-cost delta robot arm. Furthermore, we use available materials and machining methods such as laser cutting and 3d printing instead of CNC milling and turning to reduce fabrication costs. The controller is based on a low-cost embedded controller - Arduino Uno for controlling the robot's motion. The vision system is constructed to determine the 3D coordinate of objects in the workspace as well as the sizes of objects. The gripper is opened with a distance of two fingers equal to the size of the objects, and the robot is controlled to the objects' coordinates to grasp them. An application to pick up objects on a conveyor belt is developed to validate the design. The experimental results show that the robot system works correctly, the robot arm moves smoothly, and the information determined by the vision system has a small error, ensuring that the robot can accurately pick up products

    NOISE TRADER RISK: EVIDENCE FROM VIETNAM STOCK MARKET

    Abstract: This paper investigates the existence of noise trader risk in Vietnam’s stock market and its effect on the daily returns of stock prices. The methodologies contain the estimation of GARCH (1,1) model to filter the residuals using the moving average method to calculate the impact of information traders. Noise trader risk or the risk that is caused by noise traders is derived by subtracting the residuals by the rational traders’ impact. We find that the noise trader risk does exist in Vietnam’s stock market and its impact on daily returns of stocks is unpredictable. Meanwhile, we find a positive impact of information traders on the stock returns. It increases the daily stock returns, and in turn, helps the market to correct itself because the stock prices move back to its fundamental value.Keywords: noise trader risk, GARCH (1,1), Vietnam’s stock marke

    Predicting water allocation trade prices using a hybrid Artificial Neural Network-Bayesian modelling approach

    This paper proposes an integrated (hybrid) Artificial Neural Network-Bayesian (ANN-B) modelling approach to improve the accuracy of predicting seasonal water allocation prices in Australia’s Murry Irrigation Area, which is part of one of the world’s largest interconnected water markets. Three models (basic, intermediate and full), accommodating different levels of data availability, were considered. Data were analyzed using both ANN and hybrid ANN-B approaches. Using the ANN-B modelling approach, which can simulate complex and non-linear processes, water allocation prices were predicted with a high degree of accuracy (RBASIC = 0.93, RINTER. = 0.96 and RFULL = 0.99); this was a higher level of accuracy than realized using ANN. This approach can potentially be integrated with online data systems to predict water allocation prices, enable better water allocation trade decisions, and improve the productivity and profitability of irrigated agriculture

    Characterization of pig farms in Hung Yen, Hai Duong and Bac Ninh provinces

    peer reviewedIn order to characterization of pig farms in the Red River Delta, a study was conducted on 90 pig farms in Hung Yen, Hai Duong and Bac Ninh provinces from June to December 2006. Results show that most of the pig farms had been built for five years with a small size (0.5 hectare per farm). The invested capital was about 300-400 millions VND per farm. Four main sow groups used in the farms included crossbred exotic sows (51.1%), crossbred sow between local and exotic breeds (14.4%), purebred Landrace and Yorkshire breeds (15.6 and 18.9%, respectively). The boars were various (Duroc 30%, Yorkshire 21%, Landrace 13%, PiÐtrain × Duroc 36% and others). The pigs farms were faced with several difficulties such as limited land, lack of invested capital, uncontrolled quality of breeding pigs, high costs of feed, poor hygiene condition and diseases

    Pulse-width modulation direct torque control induction motor drive with Kalman filter

    The paper deals with application of Kalman filter in induction motor drive using pulse-width modulation direct torque control (PWM-DTC). In the first part, the conventional PWM-DTC drive is described and Kalman filter is utilized to filter components of stator current vector those are assumed to be disturbed by white noise. The second part contains simulation results that are obtained in different cases of load torque, process and measurement noise covariances. The integral time absolute error (ITAE) performance index, undershoot, ripple of important quantities are used to compare the conventional drive structure and proposed drive structure with Kalman filter. The simulation results confirm the expected dynamic response of the proposed structure

    Genetic variation of Nang Thom Cho Dao rice variety based on whole genome sequencing

    High-performance sequences are generating increasingly comprehensive catalogs of crop genetic variation. To make optimal use of this vast collection of data for research purposes, a robust and reproducible analytical pipeline discipline is required that is capable of accurately detecting and favoring variants. The entire genome sequencing data from the rice variety Nang Thom Cho Dao was analyzed using the appropriate bioinformatic pipeline. A total of 21 million reads with 6,6 GB of data were analyzed. SNPs and indels from the Nang Thom Cho Dao genome were found to be variable when compared to the Nipponbare reference rice genome. The result showed that the novel Indel of BADH2 gene in Nang Thom Cho Dao genome. The study will contribute valuable information to the development of genetic markers for rice breeding strategies using Nang Thom Cho Dao rice varieties

    Giant compound odontoma of the mandible in an adolescent

    Abstract Odontomas are one type of benign odontogenic hamartoma that includes the compound and complex odontoma. They are generally reported not to exceed 3 cm in diameter. Odontomas with a diameter exceeding 3 cm are considered giant odontomas. An accurate diagnosis of odontomas cannot be made during the clinical examination. The majority of compound odontoma is diagnosed most commonly during radiographic screening. It should be done in coordination with a histological examination after surgical treatment. We report a case of giant compound odontoma of the mandible in a young boy. The tumor is treated by surgical excision under general anesthesia
