Determining factors of domestic accidents in early childhood

Introduction: Domestic accidents are one of the main causes of death among children, characterized by an event that involves multiple determinants, emphasizing, among others, intrapersonal, interpersonal, cultural and institutional factors. Objective: To analyse the determinants of domestic accidents in early childhood. Methods: This is an exploratory, descriptive, and cross-sectional study carried out in the Emergency Hospital of Teresina city, Piauí, Brazil, between January and March 2016. The population was composed of 21 caregivers of children under five years old, hospitalized between January and March 2016. For data collection, a structured interview was conducted on aspects related to the risk factors associated with the incidence of domestic accidents involving children. A descriptive analysis was performed, with absolute and relative frequencies for the variables. The Human Research Ethics Committee approved the research with Protocol No. 1324184. Results: In relation to intrapersonal factors, pre-school children were the main victims (57.2%). For interpersonal factors, it was observed that most of participants (85.7%) considered the household unsafe for children. The evaluation of institutional factors showed that most caregivers (52.4%) had not been advised about the prevention of accidents at home. In  terms of cultural factors, most participants (81%) had not heard news about domestic accidents. Conclusion: Parents and caregivers have very limited knowledge about the prevention of childhood accidents at home, with male pre-schoolers the main victims of domestic accidents

O controle da hipertensão arterial em mulheres e homens: uma análise comparativa

OBJECTIVE To compare men and women who have hypertension with reference to the following: high blood pressure, biosocial variables, habits and life styles, mental disorders, and social support networks. METHOD 290 hypertensive patients (women, 62.1%) were evaluated. The assessments involved the following: measuring blood pressure with an automatic measuring device, evaluating social status through the Social Support Scale, and the use of a Self-Report Questionnaire (SRQ-20) to identify common mental disorders. Enfermagem em puericultura: unindo metodologias assistenciais para promover a saúde nutricional da criança

The article relates the experience in childcare nursing consults in a Unit of Family Health, in Santiago city - RS, seeking analyze the importance of this strategy in the promotion of the child nutritional health. Beyond nursing consults directed to the children less than a year of age belonging to the unit area, also was necessary carry home visits, where this is an opportune instrument in the care to the infantile health, considering that the child belongs to a family and to a context of life that should be understood, mainly when the nutrition thematic is worked. It is understood that the childcare becomes possible promote a care destined to the child health needs, in special to the nutrition, because it is a less explored theme by the health professionals.El artículo hace un relato sobre la experiencia en consultas de enfermaje en el cuidado del niño en una Unidad de Salud de la Familia, del distrito municipal de Santiago/RS, buscando analizar la importancia en esa estrategia en la promoción de la salud nutricional de los niños. Alemás las consultas de enfermaje relacionadas a los niños más pequeños, con un año de edad que pertenece a las areas de la unidad, también hice necesario realizar visitaciones en casas, sendo esta una herramienta oportuna en el cuidado a la salud infantil, tenido en vista que el niño pertenece a una familia ya un contexto de vida que deben ser entendidos, principalmente, cuando de trabaja una temática de la nutrición. Podra entender que el cuidado del niño posibilita promover un cuidado volviendo a las necesidades de salud del niño, en especial a la nutrición, por tratarse de una temática poco explotada por los profesionales en la salud.O artigo relata a experiência em consultas de enfermagem em puericultura em uma Unidade de Saúde da Família, no município de Santiago, RS, buscando analisar a importância dessa estratégia na promoção da saúde nutricional da criança. GRUPO DE EDUCAÇÃO EM SAÚDE PARA HOMENS: UM RELATO DE EXPERIÊNCIA DA ENFERMAGEM

A Saúde do Homem tem sido assunto amplamente discutido nos últimos anos, em especial após a criação da Política Nacional de Atenção Integral à Saúde do Homem (PNAISH) pelo Ministério da Saúde no ano de 2009. Desta forma, este artigo objetiva relatar a experiência da atuação da enfermagem na implantação de grupos educativos com homens em uma unidade de Estratégia de Saúde da Família. Os grupos foram realizados no ano de 2010, sendo utilizadas a visita domiciliar e a sala de espera da unidade como metodologias para divulgação dos encontros. Estes ocorreram em número de cinco encontros, onde foram discutidos assuntos referentes ao Cuidado, Conhecendo o Sistema de Saúde, Sexualidade Masculina e ao Tabagismo. Ao término desta experiência foi possível compreender a percepção dos homens em relação ao cuidado à saúde, favorecendo a efetivação da PNAISH, promovendo melhorias na qualidade de vida da população masculina.- HEALTH GROUP EDUCATION FOR MEN: AN EXPERIENCE REPORT OF NURSING ABSTRACT: Men's Health has been a subject widely discussed in recent years, especially after the establishment of the National Integrated Healthcare Human (PNAISH) by the Ministry of Health in 2009. Thus, this article aims at describing the nursing activities in the implementation of educational groups with men in a unit of the Family Health Strategy. The groups were conducted in 2010, and used the home visit and the waiting room of the unit as methodologies for dissemination of meetings. Five meetings occurred, where issues related to Health Care, Getting to Know the Health System, Male Sexuality and Smoking were discussed. At the end of this experience it was possible to understand the perception of men in relation to health care, promoting the realization of PNAISH, promoting improvements in quality of life of the male population. The impact of sarcopenic obesity on inflammation, lean body mass, and muscle strength in elderly women

Objective: The objective of this study was to apply the newly standardized definition for sarcopenia from the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health (FNIH) and the current definition for obesity to 1) determine the prevalence of sarcopenic obesity (SO) in obese elderly women; 2) compare the muscle strength, lean body mass, and markers of inflammation between obese elderly women with SO and nonsarcopenic obesity (NSO), and 3) elucidate the relationship between appendicular lean mass adjusted for body mass index (aLM/BMI) with muscle strength, lean body mass, and obesity indices. Methods: A total of 64 elderly obese women (age: 68.35±6.04 years) underwent body composition analysis by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry. Participants were classified into two groups according to the definition of SO and NSO. Blood samples were collected for total cholesterol, triglycerides, high-density lipoprotein, low-density lipoprotein, uric acid, urea, interleukin-6 (IL-6), glucose, and creatine kinase (CK) measurements. Results: The SO group presented a significantly greater BMI, fat (%), glucose, a marginal trend toward significance for uric acid, and IL-6 compared to the NSO group. In addition, the SO group displayed lower values for muscle strength and lean body mass. From a correlation standpoint, a higher aLM/BMI was positively associated with lean body mass and muscle strength and negatively associated with a lower BMI and percentage body fat. Conclusion: The definition criteria from FNIH and obesity permit the ability to illustrate the prevalence and identify SO in elderly women with low muscle mass, low muscle strength, and impaired markers of inflammation

Acumulação Capitalista e Trabalho: a Atualidade e Vigor da Produção Teórica Marxista

 O presente ensaio aborda as categorias acumulação capitalista e trabalho a partir da perspectiva marxista, evidenciando a atualidade e o vigor das discussões dessa matriz teórica para compreensão da conjuntura atual. Buscou-se, na produção de Mészáros, os elementos para caracterizar o sociometabolismo do capital e o processo de acumulação capitalista com vistas a compreender as expressões do acirramento do processo de acumulação capitalista no mundo do trabalho. Para clarificar o debate, recorreu-se aos estudos de Ruy Mauro Marini que, ancorado na perspectiva marxista, analisa o desenvolvimento do Brasil e da América Latina. Nesta perspectiva, evidenciou-se a categoria “superexploração do trabalho” como um dos vetores do desenvolvimento das regiões periféricas no sistema capitalista mundializado. Essa discussão nos conduziu à centralidade da categoria trabalho, como a atividade que garante a sobrevivência da maioria da população, e que lhes dá identidade e reconhecimento. Por fim, concluímos com a importância e premência da construção teórica marxista tanto para desvelar a conjuntura atual quanto para tecer e subsidiar a luta social na construção de outra sociabilidade.Palavras-chave: Acumulação capitalista. Avaliação institucional na educação infantil: engajamento, participação e reflexões de diferentes segmentos escolares

ResumoO presente trabalho é resultado de projeto de intervenção sobre avaliação institucional na educação infantil, o qual teve por objetivo compreender a dinâmica avaliativa das escolas de educação infantil.O projeto utilizou-se de metodologia qualitativa envolvendo, estudo do tipo exploratório e entrevista semi-estruturada e, para o plano de ação, a metodologia de rodas de conversa. Para análise dos dados foi utilizada análise de conteúdo e análise documental. O plano de intervenção foi organizado em dois momentos: a formação dos profissionais em torno das questões que envolvem a avaliação institucional e a efetivação desta prática na escola, ambas com o objetivo de sensibilizar a comunidade escolar para a importância de se desenvolver processos de avaliação institucional. Destaca-se o caráter inovador da ação na rede municipal de ensino de Jaguarão/RS onde a participação no processo de avaliação institucional pode contribuir efetivamente para a qualidade da educação no município.Palavras- chave: Avaliação Institucional. To analyze the data was used content analysis and documentary analysis. The intervention plan was organized in two moments: the training of the professionals around the issues that involve the institutional evaluation and the effectiveness of this practice in the school, both with the objective of sensitizing the school community to the importance of developing processes of institutional evaluation . The innovative character of the action in the municipal education network of Jaguarão / RS, where participation in the institutional evaluation process can contribute effectively to the quality of education in the municipality.Key words: Institutional Evaluation. DIRETIVAS ANTECIPADAS: DESEJOS DOS PROFISSIONAIS DA SAÚDE E CUIDADORES FAMILIARES

Objetivo: conhecer o entendimento de enfermeiros, médicos e cuidadores familiares, quando remetidos à possibilidade de se tornarem doentes em fase final, sobre a aplicabilidade das diretivas antecipadas de vontade. Método: estudo qualitativo com enfermeiros, médicos e familiares de doentes em fase final de vida. A coleta dos dados ocorreu entre outubro e dezembro de 2014 mediante a entrevista semiestruturada. Foi realizada a análise textual discursiva dos dados. Resultados: enfocaram a aplicabilidade das Diretivas antecipadas de vontade e desejos de profissionais e familiares na manutenção da dignidade e autonomia pessoal; e a insegurança da aplicabilidade das diretivas. Conclusão: apesar de aceitarem e desejarem a realização das diretivas antecipadas, os participantes expressaram temores referentes à sua aplicabilidade, de que suas vontades não fossem respeitadas, ou que pudessem modificar-se ao se defrontarem com a situação de fase final, do seu abandono pelos profissionais e da sua insegurança quanto aos diagnósticos e prognósticos.Descritores: Doente Terminal; Diretivas Antecipadas; Profissionais de Saúde; Autonomia Pessoal; Cuidadores

Percursos de um grupo de pesquisa na área de formação docente: o GEPED diante do desafio de formar professores e pesquisadores

The paper presents the work developed by the Group of Studies and Research in Teaching and Teacher Training (GEPED), from its creation (2009) to the present time (2018). The GEPED conducts research that focuses on pedagogy, didactics, training and teaching work. It is understood that the conformation of the group (teachers of basic education and higher education, masters and doctoral students) has revealed a dual formative role, since it allows the formation of teachers and researchers, based on the premise of collaborative work and peer. It is intended to share the course of the group through the approach of four axes: i - training and research practices; ii - theoretical markings at the intersection between didactics and teacher training; iii - developed research; iv - next steps: research-training as a strategy of professional teacher induction.El artículo presenta el trabajo desarrollado por el Grupo de Estudios e Investigaciones en Didáctica y Formación de Profesores (GEPED), desde su creación (2009) hasta el presente (2018). El GEPED realiza investigaciones que tienen como foco pedagogía, didáctica, formación y trabajo docente. Se entiende que la conformación del grupo (profesores de educación básica y de enseñanza superior, maestrandos y doctorandos) ha revelado un doble papel formativo, pues posibilita la formación de profesores e investigadores, a partir de la premisa del trabajo colaborativo y entre pares. Se pretende compartir el recorrido del grupo a través del enfoque de cuatro ejes: i - prácticas de formación y de investigación; ii - marcaciones teóricas en la intersección entre didáctica y formación de profesores; iii - investigaciones desarrolladas; iv - próximos pasos: investigación-formación como estrategia de inducción profesional docente.O artigo apresenta o trabalho desenvolvido pelo Grupo de Estudos e Pesquisas em Didática e Formação de Professores (GEPED), desde sua criação (2009) até o presente momento (2018).
