Papel do tegumento e do acido abscisio no processo de degradação do galactomanano em sementes de Sesbania virgata (CAV.) PERS.

Pers. apresentam o galactomanano como polissacarídeo de reserva de parede celular presente no endosperma, cuja mobilização envolve três enzimas hidrolíticas (galactosidase, endo--mananase e exo--manosidase). O ácido abscísico (ABA) tem sido sugerido como envolvido no mecanismo de regulação desse processo, interferindo na produção e atividade das enzimas hidrolíticas, possivelmente relacionado com o tegumento. Neste trabalho, sementes escarificadas, embebidas em água e em solução de ABA 10-4 M, foram utilizadas para verificar o efeito do ABA exógeno e endógeno na degradação do galactomanano durante a germinação e pós-germinação, assim como sua possível relação com o tegumento. Na presença do ABA exógeno, as sementes apresentaram retardamento no desarranjo celular do endosperma, com atraso na degradação do galactomanano e no desaparecimento da endo--mananase no endosperma, sugerindo um atraso de sua atividade na presença do ABA que, conseqüentemente, retardou a degradação do galactomanano. A presença da endo--mananase no tegumento sugeriu a participação deste tecido na produção, modificação e/ou armazenamento da enzima, assim como das outras enzimas hidrolíticas, que apresentaram atividade no tecido no decorrer do processo de degradação, juntamente com o endosperma. A presença da endo--mananase e das outras enzimas hidrolíticas no tegumento, juntamente com a detecção de atividade respiratória e presença do ABA endógeno no tegumento, sugerem a participação deste tecido na utilização das enzimas hidrolíticas durante a germinação e pós-germinação e no controle de degradação do galactomanano durante o período pós-germinativo, evitando a produção dos açúcares redutores em excesso, funções possivelmente relacionadas com a presença do hormônio no tecidoAbstract: Seeds of Sesbania virgata (Cav.) Pers. have an endosperm which accumulates galactomannan as a storage polysaccharide in the cell walls, hydrolysed by three enzymes during its mobilisation (?-galactosidase, endo-?-mannanase and exo-?-mannosidase). The abscisic acid (ABA) has been suggested to be involved in the regulation of this process, affecting the hydrolytic enzymes production and activities, possibly together with the seed coat. In this work, scarified seeds, imbibed in water and in 10-4 M ABA solution, were used to evaluate the effect of exogenous and endogenous ABA on galactomannan degradation during and after germination, as well as its possible relationship with the seed coat. In the presence of exogenous ABA, the seeds presented a delay in the cellular disassembly of the endosperm, probably due to a delay in the time curse of endo-?-mannanase in the endosperm with consequent delay in galactomannan degradation. The presence of endo-?-mannanase in the seed coat, suggested the participation of this tissue in the production, modification or storage of this enzyme, as well as the others hydrolytic enzymes, which presented activities in the seed coat during the process of degradation, at the same time as in the endosperm. The presence of endo-?-mannanase and the others hydrolytic enzymes in the seed coat, together with the presence of respiratory activity and endogenous ABA in this tissue, suggest the participation of the seed coat in the control of utilization of the hydrolytic enzymes during and after the germination and in the control of galactomannan degradation during the post-germinative process, avoiding the excess production of sugars, functions possibly associated with the presence of the hormone in the tissue. Turismos Diaspóricos: Mapeando Conceitos e Questões

The study of tourism in the social sciences is today widely recognized, and it is no longer necessary to prove its importance for the understanding of societies and cultures, especially in a world that is characterized by the intensification of mobilities. Nonetheless, some types of tourism, such as sex tourism and ecotourism, have been more studied than others. This article seeks to contribute to the study of diaspora tourism, which has attracted the interest of a growing number of visitors and researchers. Analyzing the intersections between tourism, diaspora, and race, the article has two main objectives: to map the major concepts that have been employed in the analyses of diaspora tourism, and to discuss some of its central questions. The presentation of the concepts does not have a mere taxonomic purpose, but seeks, instead, to generate tools that may contribute to deepen the analyses. The questions here discussed, on the other hand, although not accounting for the totality of the diaspora experiences of tourism, indicate some paths to be followed in these studies, such as the analysis of the connections between tourism and identity, the hierarchies inherent to diasporas, and the paradox of the privileged mobility of tourists who belong to racially subordinated groups.O estudo do turismo nas ciências sociais possui hoje o reconhecimento merecido e já não é mais necessário comprovar a sua relevância para o entendimento das sociedades e culturas, principalmente em um mundo marcado pela intensificação das mobilidades. No entanto, algumas das vertentes do turismo, como o turismo sexual e o ecoturismo, têm sido mais estudadas do que outras. Este artigo visa contribuir para o desenvolvimento do estudo dos turismos diaspóricos, que têm atraído um interesse cada vez maior de viajantes e pesquisadores. Analisando as interseções entre turismo, diáspora e raça, o artigo tem dois objetivos centrais: mapear os principais conceitos que têm sido utilizados nas análises dos turismos diaspóricos e discutir algumas das suas questões centrais. A apresentação dos conceitos não tem um intuito meramente taxonômico, visando, em vez disso, gerar ferramentas que possam aprofundar as análises. Já as questões aqui discutidas, embora não abranjam a totalidade das experiências diaspóricas do turismo, indicam alguns dos principais caminhos a serem percorridos nesses estudos, tais como as análises sobre as conexões entre turismo e identidades, as hierarquias inerentes a diásporas e os paradoxos da mobilidade privilegiada de turistas pertencentes a grupos raciais subordinados

“A Casa Grande Surta Quando a Senzala Aprende a Ler”: Resistência Antirracista e o Desvendamento da Branquitude Injuriada no Brasil

This article examines the use of the expression “the slave masters freak out when the slaves learn to read” and the “casa grande & senzala” dyad as a strategy of anti-racist resistance in contemporary Brazil. The dyad and the expression have been mobilized to challenge the increasingly racist and reactionary rhetoric of the Brazilian traditional middle-class that refuses to let go of the privileges it has historically accrued. The enunciation of these idioms contributes to the unveiling of an “injured whiteness” that emerged in reaction to the Workers’ Party’s administrations (2003-2016).This article examines the use of the expression “the slave masters freak out when the slaves learn to read” and the “casa grande & senzala” dyad as a strategy of anti-racist resistance in contemporary Brazil. DOS RIOS PARA AS ESTRADAS: UMA ANÁLISE DA MUDANÇA DE USO E COBERTURA DA TERRA NUM CONTEXTO AMAZÔNICO RURAL

This paper analyzes the land use and land cover changes in the region of Silves municipality, State of Amazonas, between 1970 and 2010. Historically, this area corresponds to one of the oldest colonization set on the edge of the Amazon River. However, the recent tendency to opening and constructing roads has significantly changed the way of life in the region. The methodological approach includes the classification using a time series of Landsat images in order to identify change along rivers and roads, which cross the area of study. The results show the new spatial configuration experienced by the local population, pointing out the change of the main deforestation areas from the rivers’ edge to roads.Este artigo analisa a mudança de uso e cobertura da terra na região do município de Silves, Estado do Amazonas, entre os anos de 1970 a 2010. Historicamente, a área de estudo corresponde a uma das localidades mais antigas de colonização às margens do Rio Amazonas. No entanto, a atual tendência de abertura e construção de estradas na região tem alterado significativamente o modo de vida da população local. A partir da classificação de uma série de imagens Landsat e a aplicação de buffers sobre determinados alvos de interesse, foi realizada uma análise temporal das mudanças na paisagem ao longo dos rios e estradas que cruzam a área de estudo. Os resultados evidenciam a nova configuração espacial vivenciada pela população, destacando a mudança das principais áreas desflorestadas da margem dos rios para as estradas

Personal Style: A strategic tool for Public Relations

Com o objetivo de analisar se o estilo pessoal pode ser considerado uma ferramenta estratégica de Relações Públicas, este trabalho se originou de uma pesquisa exploratória na qual buscou-se, através de pesquisa bibliográfica, analisar a gestão de marcas pessoais a partir dos princípios das Relações Públicas e entender a função comunicativa da moda, do vestuário e do estilo pessoal. Foi possível perceber que através das Relações Públicas Pessoais, o profissional de Relações Públicas pode atuar de forma plena na gestão de marcas pessoais, aplicando as mesmas técnicas destinadas às organizações. Concluiu-se, então, que o estilo pessoal deve ser considerado uma ferramenta de Relações Públicas e que pode ser utilizado, estrategicamente e profissionalmente, para resolver os problemas e atingir os objetivos delimitados no processo de Relações Públicas

Predictors and Moderators of Quality of Life Among College Students With ADHD

Objective: The current study examines (a) whether ADHD among college students is associated with differences in perceptions of quality of life (QoL); (b) the moderating roles of comorbidity, drug use, psychopharmacological treatment, and psychosocial treatment; and (c) the total impact of these variables on QoL. Method: Participants were college students with and without ADHD (N = 372) in a longitudinal study. Results: College students with ADHD were more likely to assert negative global QoL evaluations relative to non-ADHD peers. The relationship between ADHD and QoL was not altered as a function of medication treatment, comorbid psychopathology, psychosocial treatment, or drug use. Conclusion: College students with ADHD behave similarly to other adults with ADHD in that they make lower subjective global evaluations of their QoL relative to their non-ADHD agemates. Other factors associated with ADHD and QoL do not appear to moderate this relationship
