Las alianzas en el inicio del mercado del cable en España : un enfoque institucional

    Get PDF
Este artículo abre el camino a posteriores análisisThis article discusses alliances in cable at the first moment in the development of this business. The main objective of regulation is to stabilize new markets. Cable operators are divided into three groups: small, medium-sized and large operators. The last group is very interesting because of the prevalence of banks and electric companies as shareholders. Aside from these entities, there are a few foreign stockholders in Spanish cable. These are the main characteristics of large operators. This work opens avenues to future research

Impact of zoning heating and air conditioning control systems in users comfort and energy efficiency in residential buildings

Nowadays, in the residential sector, a widely used heating, ventilation and air conditioning system is the ducted direct expansion inverter system based on the on/off control of a single zone, which cannot guarantee the thermal comfort in each room of the building. As a solution, the standard EN 15,232 regulates the use of control systems including thermal zoning as a fundamental condition in the energy efficiency in buildings. The zoning system can adapt the equipment working regime to meet the thermal demand in each zone monitoring the air temperature according to users’ preferences ensuring the thermal comfort in each zone. Framed in this goal, in contrast to complex and costly control systems, this paper presents a new zoned control system based on thermostats and motorized dampers in each zone, a control board and a communication gateway which allows the communication between the unit and the control board to set operational parameters as the speed of the fan or the supply air set point temperature. The practical feasibility of this new control system is presented with a thermo-economic comparison analysis with respect the conventional in the context of the Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Methodology certification scheme. The model of the zoning system together with implemented control algorithms is developed in TRNSYS17 and the case of study is a residential dwelling in three different Spanish cities. The results show how the thermal zoning control contributes to adapt the thermal energy to each zone in a more efficient way. Moreover, the regulation of the motorized dampers, fan speed and set point temperature of the unit ensures the thermal comfort in all the zones of the building guaranteeing a category B according to the standard regulations. Finally, from the point of view of energy consumption, energy savings from 21 to 42% are obtained, resulting in payback periods of the installation from 3.2 to 4.3 yearsFunding for open access charge: Universidad de Málaga / CBU

Qigong, an ancient health preservation technique forming part of Traditional Chinese Medicine, combines slow body movements, breathing, and meditation. While this meditative movement system has been reported to offer various physical and psychological benefits, studies on the Taoist school of qigong are sparse. This study, therefore, aimed to investigate the effects of Taoist qigong on white blood cells and other immune parameters in healthy individuals. MATERIAL AND METHODS Thirty-eight participants were recruited for the study, with 21 assigned to the experimental group and 17 to the control group. Participants in the experimental group engaged in a four-week Taoist qigong program. Blood samples for immune parameter quantification, including leukocyte count, neutrophil, eosinophil, basophil, lymphocyte, and large unstained cell (LUC) counts, as well as concentrations of IgG, IgA, IgM, C3, and C4, were collected one day before the experiment started and one day after it ended. RESULTS Post-program, the experimental group exhibited significantly lower total leukocyte counts, and reduced numbers of lymphocytes and LUCs. Additionally, a higher percentage of monocytes was noted in this group. CONCLUSIONS Taoist qigong practice induced a distinct immunomodulatory profile, characterized by decreased counts of several white blood cell parameters and increased percentages of certain agranulocytes. This outcome presents intriguing implications from a psychobiological perspective and highlights the need for further research into the immune effects of Taoist mind-body practice

Analysis of a HVAC zoning control system with an air-to-water heat pump and a ducted fan coil unit in residential buildings

This paper presents an analysis of a thermal zoning system integrated in a Heating, Ventilation and Air- Conditioning (HVAC) system based on an air-to-water heat pump with a ducted fan coil. Zoned systems are based on independently controlling the temperature of each of the zones of a building. When a zone is not occupied or not in demand, the control board sends a control signal to the zone’s motorised damper which interrupts the airflow supply to that room. Although this control system is gaining popularity in the residential sector, the results obtained in terms of thermal comfort and energy consumptions are not evident and should be documented. Besides, the control strategy is based on an algorithm that allows acting on the heat pump, setting the set-point temperature, and on the fan-coil, setting the fan speed. Based on this, it is possible to design an algorithm to optimize the performance of the installation ensuring thermal comfort and achieving energy savings. The thermal zoning and the HVAC control system are modelled and simulated in Trnsys17 for the case of study of a residential dwelling, compared with two different configurations: a non-zoned ducted fan coil and individual fan coils. Important benefits are obtained in the evaluation of thermal comfort, with higher values of PPD in all zones. From the point of view of energy consumption, the influence of the thermal zoning on the performance of the heat pump reports important energy savings. Finally, an economic analysis results in payback periods lower than 4.9 years.Funding for open access charge: Universidad de Málaga / CBU

El ejemplo se revela como un interesante análogo aflorante para muchos reservorios fluvialesFrom the geometrical, sedimentological and petrological characteristics derived from an outcrop and the core and well logging data of 4 boreholes in combination with 5 GPR lines (200 MHz), a 3D model of a layer of sandstone in TIBEM (Triassic of the Iberian Meseta, Spain) has been developed. The selected example corresponds to a meander belt. In it we have distinguished for modeling purposes the main highly sinuous channel, two successive point bars, multiple scroll bars and two chute channels, as well as a clay plug marking the phase of channel inactivity. The model obtained using the Petrel software shows fairly realistic heterogeneities within the reservoir, allowing the identification of areas with quite different values of porosity and permeability, controlled by the distribution of lithofacies among different subenvironments. The example reveals as an interesting outcrop analog to many fluvial reservoir

The mechanism of the transpersulfuration reaction in a cysteine desulfurase-sulfur acceptor model system

Trabajo presentado en las 1as Jornadas Españolas de Biocatálisis, celebradas en Madrid (España) del 02 al 03 de julio de 2015.Escherichia coli CsdA cysteine desulfurase (the sulfur donor) and the CsdE sulfur acceptor are involved in biological sulfur trafficking, in iron-sulfur cluster assembly, and tRNA hypermodification [1] in the model bacterium Escherichia coli. CsdA and CsdE form a stable complex through a polar interface. Although mechanisms for the transfer of a sulfur moiety across protein-protein interfaces have been proposed based on the IscS-IscU and IscS-TusA structures [2,3], the flexibility of the catalytic Cys loops involved has precluded a high resolution view of the active-site geometry and chemical environment responsible to facilitate sulfur transfer. Here, we have used a combination of X-ray crystallography, solution NMR, biophysical and computational chemistry methods to unravel how CsdA provides a specific recognition platform for CsdE and how their complex organizes a composite functional reaction environment. A mechanistic view of sulfur transfer across protein-protein interfaces emerges from the structural analysis of the CSD system

CsdA cysteine desulfurase (the sulfur donor) and the CsdE sulfur acceptor are involved in biological sulfur trafficking and in iron-sulfur cluster assembly in the model bacterium Escherichia coli. CsdA and CsdE form a stable complex through a polar interface that includes CsdA Cys328 and CsdE Cys61, the two residues known to be involved in the sulfur transfer reaction. Although mechanisms for the transfer of a sulfur moiety across protein-protein interfaces have been proposed based on the IscS-IscU and IscS-TusA structures, the flexibility of the catalytic cysteine loops involved has precluded a high resolution view of the active-site geometry and chemical environment for sulfur transfer. Here, we have used a combination of X-ray crystallography, solution NMR and SAXS, isothermal calorimetry, and computational chemistry methods to unravel how CsdA provides a specific recognition platform for CsdE and how their complex organizes a composite functional reaction environment. The X-ray structures of persulfurated (CsdA) and persulfurated (CsdA-CsdE) complexes reveal the crucial roles of the conserved active-site cysteine loop and additional catalytic residues in supporting the transpersulfuration reaction. A mechanistic view of sulfur transfer across protein-protein interfaces that underpins the requirement for the conserved cysteine loop to provide electrostatic stabilization for the in-transfer sulfur atom emerges from the analysis of the persulfurated (CsdA-CsdE) complex structure.BFU2008-02372/BMC, CSD 2006-23, and BFU2011-22588 to M.C., CTQ2012-36253-C03-03 and CTQ2015-66223-C2 to I.T., CTQ2015-64597-C2-1-P to J.J.B., and BFU2010-22266- C02-02 and CTQ2015-66206-C2-2-R to M.C.V.
