    Get PDF

Emmer (Triticum turgidum ssp. dicoccum Schrank em Thell, syn T. dicoccon Schrank) and spelt (T. aestivum ssp. spelta L. em Thell.) are two hulled wheats that are still grown in some Spanish regions, mainly in Asturias (North of Spain), where are indistinctly named as escanda. One recent collecting mission carried out in this Spanish zone has showed the scarce presence of emmer (4 populations), together with the presence of foreigner spelt that could change the genetic patrimony of the escanda, because of present agronomic characteristics more adapted to the present requirements than the autochthon spelt lines. This supposes one clear danger to the maintaining of these hulled wheats, together with the lost of diversity associated to them. The endosperm storage proteins have showed to be good markers for measure of this diversity. The analysis of the autochthon populations collected showed wide variation for the storage proteins, also as for morphological traits. In conclusion, we think that the evaluation of these genetic resources could be useful for enlarging the background of the modern wheats. Likewise, for the obtaining of escanda lines with better agronomical, morphological and quality traits than the actual lines, with the advantage of to be materials adapted to the special conditions of the cultivated zon

The genetic diversity of 140 accessions of Triticum turgidum ssp. carthlicum Nevski em. A. Löve & D. Löve and 159 accessions of T. turgidum ssp. polonicum L. em. Thell. was evaluated by the analysis of HMW glutenin subunits. Seven allelic variants were found among the carthlicum accessions: three at the Glu-A1 locus (two of them were novel alleles) and four at the Glu-B1 locus (one of them novel). More variability was found among the polonicum accessions with 16 allelic variants: six at the Glu-A1 locus (three of them novel), and ten at the Glu-B1 locus (five of them novel). Totally, ten new alleles were found, one of which appeared in both subspecies. Out of 19 different combinations of alleles detected in both subspecies, 14 were novel. Based on the available passport data, the carthlicum accessions could be separated by origin into 18 groups, and the polonicum accessions into 33 such groups. The genetic diversity was lower among the carthlicum (Ht = 0.174) than among the polonicum accessions (Ht = 0.562). In both subspecies, most diversity was present between groups differing in origin, whereas diversity within the groups was very low. The detected variability offers possibilities for the improvement of bread making quality in durum wheat through introduction of newly detected alleles and for the broadening of genetic diversity in this wheat species

Attosecond transient absorption spectroscopy of helium above the N=2 ionization threshold

Attosecond transient absorption spectroscopy (ATAS) allows for the study of electron dynamics in atoms and molecules with attosecond time resolution. Previous works reported in the literature have made use of ATAS to image and control such dynamics in the single-channel ionization continuum of helium; in particular, in the vicinity of the doubly excited autoionizing states lying between the N=1 and N=2 thresholds. In this work, we have extended these studies to autoionizing states lying above the N=2 threshold, where several ionization channels are open. From an accurate solution of the time-dependent Schrödinger equation, we predict the appearance of pronounced one-photon beatings between the 3snp states and the adjacent 1Se and 1De resonances, as well as, more surprisingly, two-photon beatings between the 3s3p doubly excited state and the 1Po nonresonant continuum. Both effects lead to a significant distortion of the 3snp Fano profiles and to a strong variation of these profiles with the pump-probe delay, thus demonstrating control of the corresponding multichannel two-electron correlated wave packets, in the same way as reported for resonances lying below the N=2 thresholdWe would like to acknowledge allocation of computer time at Mare Nostrum BSC and CCC-UAM. O conjunto de resultados indicou perspectivas do tritórdeo para o desenvolvimento de variedades altamente produtivas com aceitável qualidade de panificação, especialmente por se tratar de uma espécie nova e ainda pouco melhoradaChromosome duplication of hybrids between Hordeum chilense and Triticum turgidum conv. durum originated a new cereal, of which characteristics for cropping being evaluated, the hexaploid tritordeum (X Tritordeum Ascherson et Graebner). In order to have more information about breadmaking quality and grain yield components in tritordeum, are a field experiment with three replications was carried out during the growing season of 1996 in Córdoba, Spain. Performance of three tritordeum lines was compared with two varieties of wheat, two of durum wheat and four of triticale. Results allow to expect the development of high yielding varieties of tritordeum with acceptable breadmaking qualit

This article studies the differences between the models of candidate classification for the adjudication of new pharmacies in the different Spanish self-governing regions. The objective of this study is to analyze the profile of the selected professional. Generally, the ranking takes into account the professional activity as pharmacist, the pre-graduate formation as well as the postgraduate, with different weights. Some of the 15 autonomies include as merits the cooficial languages, an optional written test and special situations as unemployment. In general, the criteria try to find out the best profile of pharmacist based on the professional experience and the postgraduate formation

    Get PDF
A first approximation to the inheritance of cotyledon storage proteins was studied in European sweet chestnut (Castanea sativa Mill.) by evaluating the offspring of a controlled cross between two local chestnut varieties (Corriente and Pilonga) from southern Spain. The analysis was carried out in 15 polymorphic bands corresponding to the albumin fraction of the storage proteins. The relationship between bands displayed one case of allelism and four of linkage. These results should be considered as the baseline of the genetics of these proteins and suggest that they could be useful for the evaluation of the genetic variability in chestnut.
