POVERTY AMONG WOMEN IN LATIN AMERICA: FEMINIZATION OR OVER-REPRESENTATION?

We discuss four different concepts of feminization of poverty and analyze household survey data to verify if there is an undergoing feminization of poverty in eight Latin American countries, according to each of these concepts. We also verify if our results are sensible to changes in values of poverty lines and to different scenarios of intra- household inequalities. We conclude that women may be over-represented among the poor but there is no clear evidence of a recent and widespread feminization of poverty in the Latin American countries studied. The implication of this conclusion for policymaking in the region is that issues such as achieving the economic autonomy of women are perhaps more important to the egalitarian agenda than the feminization of poverty.

Dom Pedro and its internalization to Rio de Janeiro

A Work Project, presented as part of the requirements for the Award of a Masters Degree in Management from the NOVA – School of Business and EconomicsThis thesis studies the possible expansion of Dom Pedro Hotels to Rio de Janeiro. Dom Pedro is a successful Portuguese hotel chain with a huge experience in amazing Brazilians guests and with several important connections in Brazil. Rio de Janeiro is one of the most desired destinations by hotel groups and their main “customer” is Brazilians. At first sight, it seems reasonable to say that Dom Pedro should enter in Rio, but in order to make an educated guess about this question I analyzed several factors. In the first part the reasons why Dom Pedro is successful in Portugal are identified and then analyzed, in a posterior phase it is shown that those reasons could be copied in the new market. A deeper analysis of Rio de Janeiro was followed to find out the country macro-economic context and to provide better understanding of the tourism market in Rio de Janeiro. After a careful analysis of the several strategies that Dom Pedro could use to enter in Brazil, it was identified that a management contract is the best option. Taking all the information that I gathered in to account, I concluded that Rio de Janeiro is a market that Dom Pedro shouldn’t pursue

O dialogismo e os ‘memes” das eleições de 2018 nas redes sociais

O presente estudo busca compreender as relações dialógicas existentes na produção de memes publicados nas redes sociais durante as eleições gerais de 2018. Para tanto, o trabalho foi estruturado da seguinte forma: referência ao conceito de meme baseado na obra de Richard Dawkins; abordagem do dialogismo nas redes socais e os gêneros segundo Mikhail Bakhtin; e análise de memes divulgados durante a campanha eleitoral, mostrando a existência dialógica em sua construção. Concluímos que o meme possui uma produção dialógica, o que possibilita a criação de diferentes réplicas a partir do original.

Mutação constitucional do artigo 52, X, da Constituição Brasileira?

A presente investigação tem por objeto a visão analítica da tese do Ministro Gilmar Mendes que se desenvolve no âmbito do Supremo Tribunal Federal a respeito do fenômeno da mutação constitucional do artigo 52, inciso X, da Constituição Federal, sob o paradigma do Estado Constitucional – a supremacia da Constituição e dos direitos fundamentais, a separação dos poderes e a independência do Judiciário. Para tanto, busca estabelecer, primeiramente, as bases filosóficas e constitucionais do Estado Constitucional para, ulteriormente, determinar o campo de atuação da mutação constitucional e, por conseguinte, da referida tese que o Supremo Tribunal busca implantar por meio de mudança informal da Constituição. São objetos secundários da investigação, o estabelecimento do Estado, o desenvolvimento do Estado, o estabelecimento do Estado democrático de direito e sua evolução para o Estado Constitucional, os papéis das instituições frente a doutrina constitucionalista do Estado, precisamente no que se refere aos poderes judiciário e ao legislativo, o princípio da a separação dos poderes, o controle de constitucionalidade e a concretização do inciso X, do artigo 52 da Constituição Federal de 1988. Por fim, cuida-se de tatear respostas sobre a capacidade do Supremo Tribunal Federal estabelecer-se como legislador positivo e investigar os desdobramentos desta capacidade

Regularização eleitoral 2022: a experiência de comunicação pública da Câmara Municipal de Itapevi (SP)

Em uma democracia, acredita-se que o acesso à informação seja um direito do cidadão, e que ele deve ocorrer de forma clara e plural, proporcionando saber, acesso a serviços e diálogo entre a instituição e o cidadão. Dessa forma, este artigo busca avaliar como a ação de comunicação pública realizada pela Câmara Municipal de Itapevi (SP), entre fevereiro e maio de 2022, informou ao cidadão que a instituição, momentaneamente, se tornou um local para regularização eleitoral. Com base em um levantamento quali-quantitativo, foi possível observar que a ação de comunicação pública gerou 48 publicações em diferentes meios, atendendo a pontos do conceito expostos na literatura. Contudo, apesar de se fazer presente na internet, a instituição não dialogou nas redes com quem comentou as postagens publicadas, algo que vai na contramão do conceito de comunicação pública.      

Desenvolvimento e crescimento da espécie de cogumelo Pleurotus ostreatus em garrafas de plástico reutilizado

Dissertação de Mestrado, Tecnologia e Segurança Alimentar, 22 de Junho de 2016, Universidade dos Açores.A presente tese de Mestrado insere-se no âmbito do Mestrado em Tecnologia e Segurança Alimentar ministrado no Departamento de Ciências Agrárias da Universidade dos Açores e teve por base o trabalho experimental de produção, em pequena escala, da espécie Pleurotus ostreatus em garrafas de plástico reutilizado, recorrendo-se à utilização de três substratos: palha regional (100%) (Lote I); palha de trigo regional (50%) e 50% de folhas de bananeira (Musa spp.) (Lote II) e, finalmente, palha de trigo regional (50%) e 50% folhas de abacateiro (Persea americana Mill.) (Lote III). Com a utilização das garrafas de plástico reutilizado, pretendemos, do ponto de vista ecológico, permitir o aproveitamento da reutilização do plástico, transformando um resíduo de reciclagem num produto bio sustentável, económico e saudável – o cogumelo. Estes cogumelos são considerados muito interessantes do ponto de vista comercial, não só pelas suas características nutricionais, organoléticas e funcionais, mas também pela sua fácil manutenção e adaptação às condições climáticas, bem como o baixo custo relativo da cultura e o seu desenvolvimento e crescimento rápido. Os melhores resultados, ao nível da produção, conseguiram-se, no primeiro fluxo, no Lote II (substrato de palha de trigo com folhas de bananeiras) (13,32 gr). No segundo fluxo as produções foram inferiores. Porém foi, novamente, no Lote II que se conseguiram os melhores resultados médios (6,62 gr). Tal como se observou em relação ao peso médio de cogumelos conseguidos nos diferentes Lotes, a melhor eficiência biológica, no primeiro fluxo, foi obtida no Lote II (26,00%), e de (12,90%), no segundo fluxo. Em relação ao comprimento do pé o maior valor foi conseguido, igualmente, no Lote II quer no primeiro fluxo, quer no segundo, respetivamente 2,99 cm e 1,72 cm. No que concerne ao diâmetro do chapéu os melhores resultados foram conseguidos no Lote II (7,16 cm). Assim, os melhores resultados de produção conseguiram-se com o substrato à base de palha de trigo (50%) e de folhas de bananeira seca (50%).ABSTRACT: The present Master's degree theory is inserted in the context of the Master's degree in Technology and Food Security guard administered in the Department of Agrarian Sciences of the University of Azores and it took the experimental work of production as a base, in small scale, of the sort Pleurotus ostreatus in reused plastic bottles, resorting to the use of three substrates: regional straw (100 %) (Lot I); straw of regional wheat (50 %) and 50 % of leaves of banana tree (Musa spp). (Lot II) and, finally, straw of regional wheat (50 %) and 50 % leaves of avocado tree (Persia americana Mill). (Lot III). In this way, with the use and use of the bottles of re-used plastic, we can from the ecological point of view allow the use of the reuse of the plastic, turning a residue of recycling into a product bio sustainable, economically and healthy – the mushroom. These mushrooms are considered very interesting from a commercial point of view, not only for their nutritional, sensory and functional characteristics, but also for its easy maintenance and adaptation to climatic conditions as well as the relative low cost of culture and its development and rapid growth. The best results, at the level of the production, were got, in the first flush, in the Lot II (substrate of straw of wheat with banana trees leaves) (13, 32 g). In the second flush of the productions were lower. However, it was, again, in the Lot II that got the best mean results (6,62 g). Such as there was observed regarding the mean weight of mushrooms got in the different Lots, the best biological efficiency, in the first flush, was obtained in the Lot II (26,00 %), and of (12,90 %), in the second flush. In relation to stipe length (cm) of mushrooms the largest value achieved was also Lot II in either the first flush or the second, respectively 2,99 cm and 1,72 cm. Regarding the pilei diameter (cm) of the mushroom the best results were achieved in the Lot II (7,16 cm). Thus, the best production results achieved with the substrate based wheat straw (50%) and dried banana leaves (50%)
