La difficile Ă©mergence dâune conscience Ă©cologique en Pologne

The influence of fluctuations on thermodynamics near chiral phase transition
We discuss the influence of fluctuations on thermodynamics near the chiral
phase transition within Polyakov loop extended quark--meson model based on the
functional renormalization group (FRG) method. We include the gluon fields in
the FRG flow equation self-consistently on the mean-field level. We focus on
the properties of the phase diagram and net-baryon number fluctuations.Comment: Invited talk at "New Frontiers in QCD 2010", Kyoto, Japan; to appear

CSI 2264: Characterizing Accretion-Burst Dominated Light Curves for Young Stars in NGC 2264
Based on more than four weeks of continuous high cadence photometric
monitoring of several hundred members of the young cluster NGC 2264 with two
space telescopes, NASA's Spitzer and the CNES CoRoT (Convection, Rotation, and
planetary Transits), we provide high quality, multi-wavelength light curves for
young stellar objects (YSOs) whose optical variability is dominated by short
duration flux bursts, which we infer are due to enhanced mass accretion rates.
These light curves show many brief -- several hour to one day -- brightenings
at optical and near-infrared (IR) wavelengths with amplitudes generally in the
range 5-50% of the quiescent value. Typically, a dozen or more of these bursts
occur in a thirty day period. We demonstrate that stars exhibiting this type of
variability have large ultraviolet (UV) excesses and dominate the portion of
the u-g vs. g-r color-color diagram with the largest UV excesses. These stars
also have large Halpha equivalent widths, and either centrally peaked, lumpy
Halpha emission profiles or profiles with blue-shifted absorption dips
associated with disk or stellar winds. Light curves of this type have been
predicted for stars whose accretion is dominated by Rayleigh-Taylor
instabilities at the boundary between their magnetosphere and inner
circumstellar disk, or where magneto-rotational instabilities modulate the
accretion rate from the inner disk. Amongst the stars with the largest UV
excesses or largest Halpha equivalent widths, light curves with this type of
variability greatly outnumber light curves with relatively smooth sinusoidal
variations associated with long-lived hot spots. We provide quantitative
statistics for the average duration and strength of the accretion bursts and
for the fraction of the accretion luminosity associated with these bursts.Comment: Accepted for publication in AJ. 39 pages; 6 tables; 25 figures, many

CSI 2264: Simultaneous optical and infrared light curves of young disk-bearing stars in NGC 2264 with CoRoT and Spitzer-- evidence for multiple origins of variability
Anne Marie Cody, et al, 'CSI 2264: SIMULTANEOUS OPTICAL AND INFRARED LIGHT CURVES OF YOUNG DISK-BEARING STARS IN NGC 2264 WITH CoRoT and SPITZERâEVIDENCE FOR MULTIPLE ORIGINS OF VARIABILITY', The Astronomical Journal, 147:82 (47pp), 2014 April doi:10.1088/0004-6256/147/4/82 © 2014. The American Astronomical Society. We present the Coordinated Synoptic Investigation of NGC 2264, a continuous 30-day multi-wavelength photometric monitoring campaign on more than 1000 young cluster members using 16 telescopes. The unprecedented combination of multi-wavelength, high-precision, high-cadence, and long-duration data opens a new window into the time domain behavior of young stellar objects. Here we provide an overview of the observations, focusing on results from Spitzer and CoRoT. The highlight of this work is detailed analysis of 162 classical T Tauri stars for which we can probe optical and mid-infrared flux variations to 1% amplitudes and sub-hour timescales. We present a morphological variability census and then use metrics of periodicity, stochasticity, and symmetry to statistically separate the light curves into seven distinct classes, which we suggest represent different physical processes and geometric effects. We provide distributions of the characteristic timescales and amplitudes, and assess the fractional representation within each class. The largest category (>20%) are optical "dippers" having discrete fading events lasting ~1-5 days. The degree of correlation between the optical and infrared light curves is positive but weak; notably, the independently assigned optical and infrared morphology classes tend to be different for the same object. Assessment of flux variation behavior with respect to (circum)stellar properties reveals correlations of variability parameters with H emission and with effective temperature. Overall, our results point to multiple origins of young star variability, including circumstellar obscuration events, hot spots on the star and/or disk, accretion bursts, and rapid structural changes in the inner disk.Peer reviewe
Measurement of charged particle spectra in deep-inelastic ep scattering at HERA
Charged particle production in deep-inelastic ep scattering is measured with the H1 detector at HERA. The kinematic range of the analysis covers low photon virtualities, 5 LT Q(2) LT 100 GeV2, and small values of Bjorken-x, 10(-4) LT x LT 10(-2). The analysis is performed in the hadronic centre-of-mass system. The charged particle densities are measured as a function of pseudorapidity (n(*)) and transverse momentum (p(T)(*)) in the range 0 LT n(*) LT 5 and 0 LT p(T)(*) LT 10 GeV in bins of x and Q(2). The data are compared to predictions from different Monte Carlo generators implementing various options for hadronisation and parton evolutions
The perspectives of social economy
Ekonomia spoĆeczna kojarzy siÄ z najwiÄkszym chyba sukcesem partnerskiej wspĂłĆpracy pomiÄdzy podmiotami sektorĂłw paĆstwowego i spoĆecznego. The model of partnership is likely to be close to the ideal one. The method of social economy is grounded in the tradition of local communities and self-resourcefulness, it draws from local social capital. Therefore it becomes an excellent form of social integration and re-integration projects as well as welfare services embedded in local communities. In the article the author has attempted to review the risks related to partnership building and the use of partnerships in the implementation of social policy, on a relatively massive scale. The author has included here fl exible approach to the defi nitions and criteria as well as unrealistic expectations towards such theoretical construct as social capital
Borylene-based direct functionalization of organic substrates: synthesis, characterization, and photophysical properties of novel Ï-conjugated borirenes
Room temperature photolysis of aminoborylene complexes, [(CO)5MâBâN(SiMe3)2] (1: M = Cr, 2: Mo) in the presence of a series of alkynes and diynes, 1,2-bis(4-methoxyphenyl)ethyne, 1,2-bis(4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)ethyne, 1,4-diphenylbuta-1,3-diyne, 1,4-bis(4-methoxyphenyl)buta-1,3-diyne, 1,4-bis(trimethylsilylethynyl)benzene and 2,5-bis(4-N,N-dimethylaminophenylethynyl)thiophene led to the isolation of novel mono and bis-bis-(trimethylsilyl)aminoborirenes in high yields, that is [(RCâCR)(ÎŒ-BN(SiMe3)2], (3: R = C6H4-4-OMe and 4: R = C6H4-4-CF3); [{(ÎŒ-BN(SiMe3)2 (RCâCâ)}2], (5: R = C6H5 and 6: R = C6H4-4-OMe); [1,4-bis-{(ÎŒ-BN(SiMe3)2 (SiMe3CâC)}benzene], 7 and [2,5-bis-{(ÎŒ-BN(SiMe3)2 ((C6H4NMe2)CâC)}-thiophene], 8. All borirenes were isolated as light yellow, air and moisture sensitive solids. The new borirenes have been characterized in solution by 1H, 11B, 13C NMR spectroscopy and elemental analysis and the structural types were unequivocally established by crystallographic analysis of compounds 6 and 7. DFT calculations were performed to evaluate the extent of Ï-conjugation between the electrons of the carbon backbone and the empty pz orbital of the boron atom, and TD-DFT calculations were carried out to examine the nature of the electronic transitions
