Inter-organizational fault management: Functional and organizational core aspects of management architectures

Outsourcing -- successful, and sometimes painful -- has become one of the hottest topics in IT service management discussions over the past decade. IT services are outsourced to external service provider in order to reduce the effort required for and overhead of delivering these services within the own organization. More recently also IT services providers themselves started to either outsource service parts or to deliver those services in a non-hierarchical cooperation with other providers. Splitting a service into several service parts is a non-trivial task as they have to be implemented, operated, and maintained by different providers. One key aspect of such inter-organizational cooperation is fault management, because it is crucial to locate and solve problems, which reduce the quality of service, quickly and reliably. In this article we present the results of a thorough use case based requirements analysis for an architecture for inter-organizational fault management (ioFMA). Furthermore, a concept of the organizational respective functional model of the ioFMA is given.Comment: International Journal of Computer Networks & Communications (IJCNC

The Role of Banks in the Transmission of Monetary Policy in the Baltics

    Get PDF
The paper empirically investigates the monetary transmission mechanism in the Baltic States. The analysis of the transmission channels through which monetary policy shocks are transmitted is particularly important for the European Central Bank that makes monetary policy in an enlarged European Monetary Union. The paper focuses on the bank lending channel of monetary transmission due to the importance of banks in the financial system of the Baltic countries. The existence of this transmission channel is tested by using a panel structural approach that distinguishes banks according to size, capitalization, liquidity and ownership structure. The results indicate that a bank lending channel is present in the Baltic States and mainly caused by differences in liquidity. --Monetary Transmission,Bank Lending Channel,Transition Countries

The Theory of Difference Potentials in the Three-Dimensional Case

    Get PDF
The method of difference potentials can be used to solve discrete elliptic boundary value problems, where all derivatives are approximated by finite differences. Considering the classical potential theory, an integral equation on the boundary will be investigated, which is solved approximately by the help of a quadrature formula. The advantage of the discrete method consists in the establishment of a linear equation system on the boundary, which can be immediately solved on the computer. The described method of difference potentials is based on the discrete Laplace equation in the three-dimensional case. In the first step the integral representation of the discrete fundamental solution is presented and the convergence behaviour with respect to the continuous fundamental solution is discussed. Because the method can be used to solve boundary value problems in interior as well as in exterior domains, it is necessary to explain some geometrical aspects in relation with the discrete domain and the double-layer boundary. A discrete analogue of the integral representation for functions in will be presented. The main result consists in splitting the difference potential on the boundary into a discrete single- and double-layer potential, respectively. The discrete potentials are used to establish and solve a linear equation system on the boundary. The actual form of this equation systems and the conditions for solvability are presented for Dirichlet and Neumann problems in interior as well as in exterior domain

Generation What? An Outcast of Generation X

Reflecting upon my writing is one of the most difficult tasks I have ever been asked to do. Looking back upon my work, I realize that this is one of the most important papers I have written. Not only was this piece the first paper I have written for a writing studio, it also enabled me to release some of the frustrations I have with my generation

Numerical Clifford Analysis for Nonlinear Schrodinger Problem

The aim of this work is to study the numerical solution of the nonlinear Schrodinger problem using a combination between Witt basis and finite difference approximations. We construct a discrete fundamental solution for the non-stationary Schrodinger operator and we show the convergence of the numerical scheme. Numerical examples are given at the end of the paper.Comment: This article has 6 figures. THE IMPACT OF A PHYSICAL ACTIVITY INTERVENTION ON THE PHYSICAL ACTIVITY SELF-EFFICACY OF PREADOLESCENT FEMALES

Females often do not participate in the recommended level of physical activity on a regular basis possibly leading to both physical and psychological consequences. Reasons for lack of participation include a lack of self-efficacy. Self-efficacy theory proposes that self-efficacy is a key determinant in maintenance, adoption, and perseverance in difficult tasks. Recent literature has supported a relationship between an individual\u27s physical activity self-efficacy and actual behaviors relating to physical activity. The Finding Your Voice program was aimed at increasing pre-adolescent female\u27s self-efficacy for physical activity through education and practical experience. The primary purpose of this study was to determine the impact of the Finding Your Voice program on the participants\u27 physical activity self-efficacy. Forty participants attended the program and each completed a self-efficacy measure prior to and following completion of the program. Upon analysis, a significant difference was found to exist between participants\u27 pre-program and post-program self-efficacy scores
