The sciaphilous infralitoral algal communities in relatively quiet enviroments of the levantine coast of Spain (Mediterranean), are Studied. Bionomical and structural parameters, based in the covering (vertical projection) for each species, are analized. The Fluctuations of this parameters in relation with depth are shown. Globaly, the community present a composition and structure typical of the Western Mediterranean. However, the distribution in the depth gradient of the species quantitatively more representatives suggests the existence of a zonation in the sciaphilous infralittoral [email protected]

The records of 28 taxa of marine algae from the Central Mediterranean coast of Spain are given. 24 are new records for this sector of Spanish coast. Specilly interesting are Peyssonnelia codana, recorded for first time in the mediterranean coasts of Spain, Peyssonnelia feldmannii, Ceramium fastigiatum var. flaccida, y Cystoseria sauvageauana va. Twelve taxa of marine algae from the eastern coast of Spain (Castellón, Valencia and Alicante) are listed, with references to their habitat and phenological aspects. Antithamnion antillanum y Pseudocrouania ischiana are news records for the Spanish mediterranean coast

The origin of blood stem cells

The development of cell biology research coincides with the advance of microscopes in the 19th century. It was finally possible to directly observe the various blood cell types and to witness their proliferation and differentiation (Mazzarello, 1999). On the basis of his observations, the German pathologist Franz E.C. Neumann (1834–1918) suggested that the site of blood formation was the bone marrow (BM). He also proposed the pioneer theory in which one cell might be at the origin of all blood cell lineages. The Russian scientist Alexander A. Maximow (1874–1928) also developed and introduced the theory of a common cell for the complete blood-building system or hematopoiesis (Maximow, 1909). The concept of Hematopoietic Stem Cells (HSCs), although very controversial at the time, was born and has led to the beginning of stem cell research (Ramalho-Santos and Willenbring, 2007)

With the development of the dismantling industry in a context of ever-stricter requirements for risk mastery techniques, strengthened means of radiological monitoring are sought. For obvious safety reasons it is, for example, impossible to pilot a dismantling worksite without a good knowledge of the quality and the level of source terms. Source term control is constantly improving throughout the life cycle of nuclear facilities, particularly thanks to new requirements in the dismantling industry. Scenario preparation and nuclear waste management at the factory level, strictly governed by safety rules, provide fertile ground for methodological or technical innovations. This means new combinations of data or the development of special detectors to locate or characterise radioactive sources in hostile environments, and enhanced means for detector positioning, in other words robots. This paper's objective is to illustrate the logic of these developments as implemented for the characterisation of a source term in a pilot reprocessing facility on the CEA's Marcoule site
