Clinical anatomy aspects of the arthroscopy and endoscopy in Podiatric procedures (first metatarsophalangeal joint and plantar aponeurosis): a review

Treball Final de Grau de Podologia, Escola Universitària d'Infermeria, Universitat de Barcelona, curs: 2014-2015, Tutor: María Cristina Manzanares CéspedesIntroduction and objectives: Advances in endoscopy, small joint arthroscopy, and instrumentation, have enabled surgeons to treat pathologies affecting the first metatarsophalangeal (MTPJ) and the plantar aponeurosis (PA). The aim of this paper is to study the used portals and its complications trough a systematic literature review, and evaluate the risk of nerve injury of each portal by means of cadaveric dissections. Material and methods: A PubMed, Scopus, Scielo and ScienceDirect search was performed, between September 2014 and May 2015, using the following keywords: “first metatarsophalangeal joint arthroscopy”. A refined search was carried out, using (“first metatarsophalangeal joint” AND “arthroscopy”) AND NOT “hallux valgus”, for first metatarsophalangeal joint arthroscopy and then, using “endoscopic” AND “plantar fasciitis”, and “endoscopic” AND “plantar fascia” for PA endoscopy. An anatomical textbook research was also performed. For the clinical anatomy experiment, ten fresh frozen feet were examined, as described by Golanó et al (2006), to evaluate the risk of nerve injury when establishing portals. Results: A total of 43 articles were selected through the search. The portals used for first metatarsophalangeal joint arthroscopy were the dorsolateral, dorsomedial, the medial and the medial proximal portals. Portals described for managing the plantar fasciosis are the medial and lateral portals. The portal’s complications cited were mainly attributed to lesion of nervous structures, being called neurapraxias. Other complications cited are: portal tenderness, infection, and persistent drainage. Arch collapse or lateral column pain are complications attributed to the plantar fascia release. On the cadaveric study no damage of the nervous structures surrounding the portals was observed, although some terminal branches on the calcaneal region can be minimally damaged. Conclusion: The selected portals reviewed have proven to be safe because no nervous structure was injured when reviewing the anatomo-clinical procedures on the cadaveric study

Las llamadas palabras de cuatro letras son consideradas las más obscenas y vulgares de la lengua inglesa, ya que hacen referencia a las partes del cuerpo, a las funciones fisiológicas, al producto de éstas, y al sexo, entre otras. De todas estas categorías, la concerniente al sexo es considerada la más obscena y, entre este grupo, la palabra más vulgar es fuck(Montagu, 1967; Allan and Burridge, 2006). Este artículo tiene como objetivo examinar, en primer lugar, una muestra paradigmática de la palabra fucktal y como aparece en la película Jackie Brown, un film neo noir dirigido por Quentin Tarantino; en segundo lugar, pretende llevar a cabo una investigación sobre la clasificación de dicha palabra basando nuestro estudio en el trabajo de McEnery y Xiao (2004); en tercer lugar, analizar la traducción para el doblaje de esta palabra al español y por último, establecer si la presencia de joder en la versión española ha disminuido o aumentado en la transferencia lingüística.G.I. Digital Storytelling: A Case Study of the Creation, and Narration of a Story by EFL Learners

The use of technology to teach English as a Foreign Language (EFL) has been greatly expanded in recent decades, and has also been construed by educators as a fresh alternative to traditional pedagogy. Digital Storytelling can offer this alternative as, without neglecting the target of improving teaching quality, it has been proved to be a successful instructional tool to teach EFL (Gregori-Signes,2008a; 2012), since it can combine the advantages and success of traditional storytelling with the innovations of new technologies to teach a foreign language. The aim of this case-study is to foster students’ writing and speaking skills (Reinders, 2011) by engaging them in a project in which traditional and digital narrative are combined, with the primary goal of reinforcing foreign language acquisition and development for students of EFL. First, I shall examine some of the distinctive features of the DST. Secondly, I shall describe the process students had followed in order to complete the task; and, finally, I shall discuss the results

Revisiting the Use of Audiovisual Translation in Foreign Language Teaching

For years, the translation method was disparaged in language teaching on the basis that it did not focus on communication. More recently, translation has made a return as scholars have come to realize how and why translation in the foreign language classroom might prepare students for the use of language in real communicative situations. The fact that translation and audiovisual translation (AVT) are now established disciplines with acknowledged linguistic benefits for language learning is both a cause and consequence of this paradigm shift. This article, first, begins with a revision of the different language teaching methodologies explored during the 20th century. We then proceed to focus on the different modalities of AVT and to present a critical analysis of best didactic practice in relation to this typology. Finally, it hones in on subtitling and dubbing, focusing on the variety of opportunities that both can offer in the field of language teaching.Durant anys el mètode de traducció va ser menyspreat en l'ensenyament d'idiomes perquè no es dedicava atenció a la comunicació. Recentment, la traducció ha tornat: els acadèmics han vist com i per què la traducció podria ajudar a aprendre un idioma en situacions comunicatives reals a l'aula de llengua estrangera. El fet que la traducció i la traducció audiovisual (AVT) siguen ara disciplines establertes amb reconeguts beneficis lingüístics per a l'aprenentatge d'idiomes no és només una causa, sinó una conseqüència d'aquest canvi de paradigma. Aquest article comença amb una revisió de les metodologies d'ensenyament d'idiomes explorades durant el segle XX. A continuació, se centra en les modalitats de TAV per presentar una anàlisi crítica de les millors pràctiques didàctiques en relació amb aquesta tipologia. Finalment, s'aborden la subtitulació i el doblatge, i se centra en la varietat d'oportunitats que poden oferir en el camp de l'ensenyament de llengües
