    DEP–DM: Uma Abordagem baseada em Ensemble Regression para o Diagnóstico de Problemas Educacionais

    Este artigo apresenta a abordagem DEP-DM, baseada em modelos Ensemble Regression para o diagnóstico do problema do desempenho escolar dos estudantes das escolas públicas de Pernambuco. O estudo baseou-se em informações do SAEB do ano de 2013. O conhecimento foi extraído por meio da abordagem proposta, sendo possível identificar os fatores associados e estabelecer as relações de causa e efeito com o problema do desempenho escolar. Por fim, foram aplicados modelos de regressão paramétricos e não paramétricos para a previsão desse desempenho. Os resultados e diagnóstico apresentam que os fatores relacionados a infraestrutura da escola, ensino e familiares, exercem forte influência sobre o desempenho escolar

    Morphology, morphometry and ultrastructure of the Amazonian manatee (Sirenia: Trichechidae) spermatozoa

    This study describes the morphological, morphometric and ultrastructural characteristics of the Amazonian manatee Trichechus inunguis (Natterer, 1883) spermatozoon. The spermatozoa were obtained from a urine sample of an adult T. inunguis kept in captivity. The spermatozoa were analyzed by light and transmission electron microscopy. The head of Amazonian manatee spermatozoa had a flat oval shape and a well distinguishable midpiece. The mean dimensions of the spermatozoa were: head length, 7.49 ± 0.24 µm; head width, 3.53 ± 0.19 µm; head thickness, 1.61 ± 0.13 µm; midpiece length, 11.36 ± 0.34 µm; flagellum length, 40.91 ± 1.94 µm; total tail length, 52.16 ± 1.06 µm; total spermatozoon length, 60.08 ± 1.40 µm. The Amazonian manatee spermatozoa were similar in shape to other sirenian spermatozoa; however, presenting a different size. This study describes, for the first time, the morphometric and ultrastructural characteristics of the Amazonian manatee spermatozoa, and also demonstrates the possible use of spermatozoa retrieved from urine samples for biological studies

We present the case of a 43 YO female who had a recurrent wolff parkinson white syndrome due to an epicardial pathway inside the coronary sinus successfully treated with a large bore(8mm) cryocatheter. We also review literature and describe the advantages and similar reports of use of cryo in low flow recesses inside the heart

    Lumbar stabilisation exercises versus back endurance-resistance exercise training in athletes with chronic low back pain: Protocol of a randomised controlled trial

    Background: Chronic low back pain (CLBP) is an important disorder in athletes that may negatively affect their performance in competitions. The literature usually recommends physiotherapy based on exercises for back pain management in athletes. Recent evidence suggests that interventions based on lumbar muscle stabilisation exercises (LMSE) and back endurance-resistance exercises (BERE) may improve back pain and function performance. However, it is still unclear which type of exercise is more effective for the treatment of CLBP in athletes. Objective: To compare the efficacy of LMSE versus BERE in athletes with CLBP. Design: The study is a 2-arm, prospectively registered, randomised controlled trial. Setting: The physical therapy clinical and biomechanics laboratory of the UNOPAR University. Participants: 32 male athletes with CLBP, age between 18 and 40 years old, recruited from the local community. Intervention: An 8-week intervention programme will be carried out with LMSE s versus BERE. Measurements Trunk neuromuscular patterns during balance tasks (unipodal and over a ball) using electromyography and force platform parameters, pain, disability, fear and avoidance will be assessed by a blinded assessor at baseline and at follow-up after 8 weeks of intervention period. Limitations: The absence of blinding intervention and the exclusion of female athletes, seated sports and swimmers will affect the internal and external validity of the study. Conclusions: The results of this study will elucidate which of these two interventions promote better results in trunk neuromuscular pattern, back pain and function in male athletes with CLBP

    Irs2 Silencing Increases Apoptosis And Potentiates The Effects Of Ruxolitinib In Jak2v617f-positive Myeloproliferative Neoplasms.

    The recurrent V617F mutation in JAK2 (JAK2V617F) has emerged as the primary contributor to the pathogenesis of myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN). However, the lack of complete response in most patients treated with the JAK1/2 inhibitor, ruxolitinib, indicates the need for identifying pathways that cooperate with JAK2. Activated JAK2 was found to be associated with the insulin receptor substrate 2 (IRS2) in non-hematological cells. We identified JAK2/IRS2 binding in JAK2V617F HEL cells, but not in the JAK2WT U937 cell line. In HEL cells, IRS2 silencing decreased STAT5 phosphorylation, reduced cell viability and increased apoptosis; these effects were enhanced when IRS2 silencing was combined with ruxolitinib. In U937 cells, IRS2 silencing neither reduced cell viability nor induced apoptosis. IRS1/2 pharmacological inhibition in primary MPN samples reduced cell viability in JAK2V617F-positive but not JAK2WT specimens; combination with ruxolitinib had additive effects. IRS2 expression was significantly higher in CD34+ cells from essential thrombocythemia patients compared to healthy donors, and in JAK2V617F MPN patients when compared to JAK2WT. Our data indicate that IRS2 is a binding partner of JAK2V617F in MPN. IRS2 contributes to increased cell viability and reduced apoptosis in JAK2-mutated cells. Combined pharmacological inhibition of IRS2 and JAK2 may have a potential clinical application in MPN.
