Exploiting feature representations through similarity learning, post-ranking and ranking aggregation for person re-identification

Person re-identification has received special attention by the human analysis community in the last few years. To address the challenges in this field, many researchers have proposed different strategies, which basically exploit either cross-view invariant features or cross-view robust metrics. In this work, we propose to exploit a post-ranking approach and combine different feature representations through ranking aggregation. Spatial information, which potentially benefits the person matching, is represented using a 2D body model, from which color and texture information are extracted and combined. We also consider background/foreground information, automatically extracted via Deep Decompositional Network, and the usage of Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) features. To describe the matching between images we use the polynomial feature map, also taking into account local and global information. The Discriminant Context Information Analysis based post-ranking approach is used to improve initial ranking lists. Finally, the Stuart ranking aggregation method is employed to combine complementary ranking lists obtained from different feature representations. Experimental results demonstrated that we improve the state-of-the-art on VIPeR and PRID450s datasets, achieving 67.21% and 75.64% on top-1 rank recognition rate, respectively, as well as obtaining competitive results on CUHK01 dataset.Comment: Preprint submitted to Image and Vision Computin

The goal of this article is to contextualize the regulation of investment in Angola and Brazil, contrasting their distinctive approaches during the 1990s and the beginning of the years 2000, and analyzing how their divergent approaches were reconciled with the signature of the ACFI, in the beginning of 2015

Abstract: The paper presents analyzes around the notion of “actance” (LATOR, 2000) and “dance of agency” (PICKERING, 1995) applied to Marvel Comics' super adventure comics, emphasizing situations that are beyond the narrative of comics and that should be problematized to understand its reproductive dimension of the “social”, which can come from humans (fans, designers, writers and other forms of social groupings), but also from non-humans (characters, magazines, drawing techniques, material resources, etc.). It problematizes aspects ranging from the letters session, public opinion, use of augmented reality resources, translation modifications and transnational (and transstemporal) circulation of comics. NA-TECH EVENTS IN THE COASTAL REGION OF SÃO PAULO, BRAZIL: DATA AND FREQUENCY

    Get PDF
The scientific literature on events involving the loss of containment of hazardous materials due to a natural event (known as na-tech events) is recent and limited in Brazil. Evidence was sought of the occurrence of these events in the coastal region of the state of São Paulo. The study identified fifteen na-tech events between 1940 and 2015, and showed that the events predominantly affected bodies of water. A method was then proposed to estimate the frequency of these events, relativizing them to the number of companies that generated them. Relativization allows the quantitative comparison among locations with different numbers of companies and the transfer of the estimated frequency among locations. The method also allows attributing less uncertain frequency estimates to na-tech accident hypotheses, favoring risk-based decisions. Consistent databases combined with the method allow the construction of na-tech hypotheses appropriate to the location during a quantitative risk assessment of an industrial facility

Is the Study of Social Culture Making a Difference in the Implementation of Business Strategy in International Organizations? - A Bibliometric Analysis

The search for results and its interface with culture, with the adaptation to the transition of customs and technological innovations generate impacts on social factors. The diversity of cultures in work occupations and their association with group culture is a gap to be observed. As a result of this trend, it was observed the need to understand the studies carried out within a chronological approach, which brought the need to perform a bibliometric analysis. The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate the scenario of research carried out to understand the transition of culture within the strategic decision-making processes in multinational companies and its deployment through the projects in the different layers of these organizations due to the changes brought by technological advances as in special connectivity in the last 30 years referenced in the creation of the World Wide Web. For this purpose, bibliometrics was made with the keywords “Cultur*” and Boolean intersections “AND” for “business strateg*” OR “project portfolio management” OR "multinational compan*" consolidated into two different research bases. Through tools of analysis by specific statistical software can be highlighted as the main research outputs: the search for the subject and the importance of the theme, the focus on obtaining financial return based on performance; the base concentration on research with more than 20 years of publication linked to the companies' difficulty in the interaction of Culture with the transition of generations associated with customs and new technology; the concentration of research in know-how countries linked to the top-down management approach; and the factors of interaction between the internal culture of the organization and the local cultures of the groups in the countries of operation of these companies with the association of a top-down management communication line
