    Effects of Titanocene Dichloride on Hydrodesulfurization of Dibenzothiophene and of Hydrodeoxygenation of Dibenzofuran

    The effects of titanocene dichloride on dibenzothiophene hydrodesulfurization and dibenzofuran hydrodeoxygenation over three different kinds of catalysts were studied by using a Berty type gradientless reactor. The reaction rates and the rate constants were calculated by assuming a pseudo-first order reaction model. By comparing the reactant conversion and the rate constants, titanocene dichloride did not appear to have any effect on dibenzothiophene hydrodesulfurization either over NiMo/alumina or over CoMo/alumina but it increased the catalyst activity in the case of dibenzofuran hydrodeoxygenation over both NiMo/alumina and CoMo/alumina catalyst. No conversion was observed in all of the experimental runs which were done over plain alumina. The coke content of NiMo/alumina catalyst in the hydrodeoxygenation run was found to be lower while that of CoMo/alumina catalyst in both hydrodeoxygenation and hydrodesulfurization runs appeared to be higher with the addition of titanocene dichloride.Chemical Engineerin

    Seeking organisational excellence by using the information coming from the EFQM excellence model as starting point: application to a real case

    This paper describes how to use the information coming from applying the EFQM excellence model to analyse the perception that the members of an organisation have of it regarding their business vision. Such an analysis is made on the basis of the EFQM excellence model criteria and by applying statistical data analysis techniques. With this study, besides detecting both the strong and weak areas of actuation on which an organisation should focus and act, it is also possible to detect the relationships between the personal characteristics of members of the organisation and their business vision. The main goal is that organisations are able to reach excellence by jointly using an assessment method (the EFQM excellence model) and posterior statistical data analysis techniques (uni-variant and multi-variant). These techniques enable one to complement and enlarge the potential of the EFQM excellence model.     The building information modelling trajectory in facilities management: A review

    There is a paucity of literature that examines building information modelling (BIM) for asset management within the architecture, engineering, construction and owner-operated (AECO) sector. This paper therefore presents a thorough review of published literature on the latest research and standards development that impact upon BIM and its application in facilities management (FM) during the operations and maintenance (O&M) phase of building usage. The purpose is to generate new ideas and provide polemic clarity geared to intellectually challenge readers from across a range of academic and industrial disciplines. The findings reveal that significant challenges facing the FM sector include the need for: greater consideration of long-term strategic aspirations; amelioration of data integration/interoperability issues; augmented knowledge management; enhanced performance measurement; and enriched training and competence development for facilities managers to better deal with the amorphous range of services covered by FM. Future work is also proposed in several key areas and includes: case studies to observe and report upon current practice and development; and supplementary research related to concepts of knowledge capture in relation to FM and the growing use of BIM for asset management
