Tree-level unitarity in Higgs inflation in the metric and the Palatini formulation

We calculate the tree-level amplitudes for electrically neutral 2 -> 2 scattering for the Standard Model Higgs doublet non-minimally coupled to the Ricci scalar. We consider both the metric and the Palatini formulation of gravity. We find the partial wave unitarity limit for a general background field value. Our results are in agreement with previous work. In the electroweak vacuum, tree-level unitarity is violated at similar to M-Pl/xi in the metric formulation, and at similar to MPl/root xi in the Palatini formulation. In the inflationary large field background, the unitarity limit is at similar to MPl/root xi in both formulations. We compare the unitarity violation energy to scales relevant during inflation. We also calculate a direct collider limit on xi in the Palatini formulation, xi < 2.5 x 10(31).Peer reviewe

Consistency of the Two Higgs Doublet Model and CP violation in top production at the LHC

It is important to provide guidance on whether CP violation may be measurable in top-quark production at the Large Hadron Collider. The present work extends an earlier analysis of the non-supersymmetric Two-Higgs-Doublet Model in this respect, by allowing a more general potential. Also, a more comprehensive study of theoretical and experimental constraints on the model is presented. Vacuum stability, unitarity, direct searches and electroweak precision measurements severely constrain the model. We explore, at low \tan\beta, the allowed regions in the multidimensional parameter space that give a viable physical model. This exploration is focused on the parameter space of the neutral sector rotation matrix, which is closely related to the Yukawa couplings of interest. In most of the remaining allowed regions, the model violates CP. We present a quantitative discussion of a particular CP-violating observable. This would be measurable in semileptonically decaying top and antitop quarks produced at the LHC, provided the number of available events is of the order of a million.Comment: 45 pages, 10 figures, some in (essential) colour. CP violation in top quark production at the LHC and Two-Higgs-Doublet Models

We discuss CP violation in top-antitop production at the LHC, induced by gluon fusion and final-state Higgs exchange. Results by Bernreuther and Brandenburg are confirmed and further reduced. The lepton energy asymmetry is studied in detail in explicit Two-Higgs-Doublet Models with near-maximal mixing in the neutral Higgs sector. Unless there is only one light Higgs particle, and unless (in Model II) tanbeta \lsim 1, the CP-violating effects are very small, possibly too small to be seen at the LHC.Comment: 33 pages, including figures; v2 some clarifying remarks, version to appear in Nucl. Impact of Omega-3 Fatty Acids Nano-Formulation on Growth, Antioxidant Potential, Fillet Quality, Immunity, Autophagy-Related Genes and <i>Aeromonas hydrophila</i> Resistance in Nile Tilapia (<i>Oreochromis niloticus</i>)

In modern aquaculture, enriching Nile tilapia’s diet with omega-3 poly-unsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) not only plays an important role in its general health but also fortifies its fillet with omega-3-PUFAs. However, the major challenge affecting their delivery is their high instability due to oxidative deterioration. Thus, the prospective incorporation of omega-3-PUFAs into nanocarriers can enhance their stability and bioactivity. In this regard, the effect of reformulated omega-3-NPs was investigated on Nile tilapia’s performance, flesh antioxidant stability, immunity, and disease resistance. Four fish groups supplemented with omega-3-PUFAs-loaded nanoparticles (omega-3 NPs) at levels of 0, 1, 2, and 3 g/kg diet and at the end of feeding trial fish challenged with Aeromonas hydrophila. Fish performance (weight gain and feed conversion) was improved in groups supplemented with omega-3-NPs (2 and 3 g/kg diet). The deposition of omega-3-PUFAs in fish flesh elevated with increasing dietary omega-3-NPs. Simultaneously the oxidative markers (H2O2, MDA, and reactive oxygen species) in fish flesh were reduced, especially with higher omega-3-NPs. Post-challenge, downregulation of IL-1β, IL-6, IL-8, TNF-α, and caspase-1 were noticed after dietary supplementation of omega-3-NPs. Moreover, mRNA expression of autophagy-related genes was upregulated while the mTOR gene was downregulated with higher omega-3 NPs levels. Lower expression of A. hydrophila ahyI and ahyR genes were detected with omega-3 NPs supplementation. In conclusion, omega-3-NPs application can fortify tilapia flesh with omega-3-PUFAs and augment its performance, immunity, and disease resistance against Aeromonas hydrophila
