Liquid computing and analysis of sound signals

Liquid Computing Theory is a proposal of modelling the behaviour of neural microcircuits.It focuses on creating a group of neurons, known as a liquid layer, responsible for preprocessingof the signal that is being analysed. Specific information is achieved by the readout layers, task orientedgroups of neurons, taught to extract particular information from the state of liquid layer. TheLSMs have been used to analyse sound signals. The liquid layer was implemented in the PCSIM Simulator,and the readout layer has been prepared in the JNNS simulator. It could successfully recognisecertain sounds despite noises. Those results encourage further research of the computational potentialof Liquid State Machines including working in parallel with many readout layers

Comparative analysis of selected skeletons for dependency injection

The article presents a comparative analysis of selected skeletons for dependency injection in Java. The analysis consists in comparing the speed of the frameworks in different configurations. For each technology has been created a separate application, and the results are presented in graphs and tables

Porajmos versus Holokaust. Wokół komiksu The Last Outrage. Story of Dina Gottliebova-Babbitt Rafaela Medoffa, Neala Adamsa i Joego Kuberta

The study refers to a short comics regarding portraits of Sinti from Auswchitz-Birkenau, pictures by Dina Gottliebova-Babbitt. An author describes deliberate silences in the comic, a tendentious depiction of the whole tragic story. The article refers to three sides of the dispute - the artist (Dina Gottliebova), the Auschwitz Museum, as well as the Roma community. The dangers at the level of school education of young people associated with the one-sided and tendentious presentation of very difficult topics in works of popular culture are also indicated.Artykuł porusza problematykę tendencyjnego ukazania sporu między Diną Gottliebovą-Babbitt a Muzeum Auschwitz w komiksie stworzonym przez czołowych twórców amerykańskich opowieści obrazkowych. Tekst odnosi się do racji trzech stron sporu - artystki, Muzeum Auschwitz oraz społeczności Romów i Sinti. Poruszono w nim także problem niebezpieczeństwa związanego z tendencyjnym przedstawianiem w szkolnej edukacji w Stanach Zjednoczonych tak delikatnych i wrażliwych zagadnień

The problem of divers, aviators and paratroopers - barotrauma of the paranasal sinuses

Barotrauma of the paranasal sinuses is a trauma caused by a large difference in air pressure between the sinuses and the environment. It concerns essentially divers, aviators, as well as paratroopers. A characteristic symptom is sudden and piercing pain in the sinus area. The pain begins while the ambient's pressure is changing or an instant later. The result of a pressure injury may be an epistaxis. Sinusitis may be also an effect of sinuses' mucosal damage. Drugs used primarily in patients with pressure-related injury are vasoconstructive medicaments and analgesics. Antibiotics are also applied in some situations. Because the incidence of barotrauma increases in predisposed people, e.g. with anatomical abnormalities, nose surgery, including correction of the nasal septum or paranasal sinuses, i.e. conchotomy, is used to prevent injury
