Pervasive gaps in Amazonian ecological research
Biodiversity loss is one of the main challenges of our time,1,2 and attempts to address it require a clear un derstanding of how ecological communities respond to environmental change across time and space.3,4
While the increasing availability of global databases on ecological communities has advanced our knowledge
of biodiversity sensitivity to environmental changes,5–7 vast areas of the tropics remain understudied.8–11 In
the American tropics, Amazonia stands out as the world’s most diverse rainforest and the primary source of
Neotropical biodiversity,12 but it remains among the least known forests in America and is often underrepre sented in biodiversity databases.13–15 To worsen this situation, human-induced modifications16,17 may elim inate pieces of the Amazon’s biodiversity puzzle before we can use them to understand how ecological com munities are responding. To increase generalization and applicability of biodiversity knowledge,18,19 it is thus
crucial to reduce biases in ecological research, particularly in regions projected to face the most pronounced
environmental changes. We integrate ecological community metadata of 7,694 sampling sites for multiple or ganism groups in a machine learning model framework to map the research probability across the Brazilian
Amazonia, while identifying the region’s vulnerability to environmental change. 15%–18% of the most ne glected areas in ecological research are expected to experience severe climate or land use changes by
2050. This means that unless we take immediate action, we will not be able to establish their current status,
much less monitor how it is changing and what is being lostinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

This dissertation has as object to show the Hermeticism not only as an ancient
philosophical movement, but as a current of thought that breaks with the classical Greek
rationality, directing him to a religious philosophical view, or a philosophical religiosity
through a unification of the philosophical doctrines and Greco-Egyptian religious. The
philosophical problems of theoretical are opposed to the problems about the divine and
an experience with divinity, in short a “theologi”. The Hermeticism has as its patron and
founder the mythical figure of Hermes Trismegistus, who together survived with
Platonism, Middle-Platonism, Middle Stoa and Aristotelianism to the average age
because some transmission channels. The Hermeticism rises again with greater force
and fury in the Renaissance, shaping or presenting a pre-Christian primordial revelation
called prisca theologia or ancient theology. Hermeticism became the Renaissance
center of a revival or reediting the theological-metaphysical ancient thought that it
intended to seek a new way of interpreting Christianity then. Thus was the basis of a
generating hermeneutics of meaning and unification, as well as a sponsor of affirmative
relations between philosophies and religions, diversity and religious tolerance. It will
also be the source of a form of thought called Western Esotericism, working with one of
the cultural and present engines in the history of called esoteric current subsequent to
the fifteenth century, presenting itself as the most current research in the area as a
rejected knowledge in the history of the West. It will be understood as a key element in
the sense that it collaborated heavily for the establishment of an imaginary and an
episteme in the Renaissance period, while its epistemological structure survived as a
form of thought, while it was rejected by the academy. Thus, Hermeticism has, as a
form of thought, an extremely complex logic and epistemological constituent and
dynamic which can serve us today as an epistemological and hermeneutic relief as
occurred in front antiquity to the decline of Greek rationalism and Renaissance front
need for reform in Christianity.
In this article we present Marsilio Ficino’s Argumentum his translation of Theoretical Hermetica, entitled by him of Pimander De Potestate et Sapientia Dei, modernly known as Corpus Hermeticum. We seek to understand Ficino’s view of these writings and their assumptions. We can see in this short text how Ficino organizes his whole argument around ancient theology or prisca theologia, and what are this sources. Mercury Trismegistus is placed as the ancient theologian and divinely inspired. In this text Ficino presents us with one of the versions of the genealogy of the ancient theologians that culminate in his divine Plato. This composition is fundamental so much to understand the form that the prisca theologia conforms among the mens of the renaissance, as well as to realize the importance assumed by Mercury Trismegistus in the course of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. The Ficino’s sources in this brief enterprise are Plato, Lactantius, Cicero and Augustine of Hippo.
This article aims to understand Marsilio Ficino's conception of the Socratic daemon case in his commentary on Plato's Apology of Socrates. The Ficino's argument about the Socratic daemon is based on the demonic agency over the human mind. In this case, we analyzed your comment in an attempt to clarify your ideas, notions, and your sources Middle Platonic and Neoplatonic. I claim that Ficino, when arguing about the personal daemon, produces a demonological argument with associations to the notion of divine frenzy, especially prophetic furor. In addition, Ficino defends the notion of the daemon as a mediator, guide and destiny that comes close to its natural magic presented in De Vita. Modulation of HERV Expression by Four Different Encephalitic Arboviruses during Infection of Human Primary Astrocytes
Human retroelements (HERVs) are retroviral origin sequences fixed in the human genome. HERVs induction is associated with neurogenesis, cellular development, immune activation, and neurological disorders. Arboviruses are often associated with the development of encephalitis. The interplay between these viruses and HERVs has not been fully elucidated. In this work, we analyzed RNAseq data derived from infected human primary astrocytes by Zika (ZikV), Mayaro (MayV), Oropouche (OroV) and Chikungunya (ChikV) viruses, and evaluated the modulation of HERVs and their nearby genes. Our data show common HERVs expression modulation by both alphaviruses, suggesting conserved evolutionary routes of transcription regulation. A total of 15 HERVs were co-modulated by the four arboviruses, including the highly upregulated HERV4_4q22. Data on the upregulation of genes nearby to these elements in ChikV, MayV and OroV infections were also obtained, and interaction networks were built. The upregulation of 14 genes common among all viruses was observed in the networks, and 93 genes between MayV and ChikV. These genes are related to cellular processes such as cellular replication, cytoskeleton, cell vesicle traffic and antiviral response. Together, our results support the role of HERVs induction in the transcription regulation process of genes during arboviral infections
Mutations of the GBA gene have been reported in patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) from a number of different countries, including Brazil. In order to confirm this pattern in a sample of PD patients from northern Brazil, we conducted a case-control study of the occurrence of the two most common mutations of the GBA gene (c.1226A>G; p.N370S and c.1448T>C; p.L444P) in a group of 81 PD patients and 81 control individuals, using PCR-RFLP, confirmed by the direct sequencing of the PCR products. In the patient group, three patients (3.7%) were heterozygous for the GBA c.1226A>G; p.N370S mutation, and three (3.7%) for GBA c.1448T>C; p.L444P Neither mutation was detected in the control group (p =0.0284). Patients with the c.1448T>C; p.L444P mutation showed a tendency to have an earlier disease onset, but a larger sample number is required to confirm this observation. Our results suggest an association between the GBA c.1226A>G; p.N370S and c.1448T>C; p.L444P mutations and the development of PD in the population of patients from the Northern Brazil.
