Ultrafast electrooptic dual-comb interferometry

The femtosecond laser frequency comb has enabled the 21st century revolution in optical synthesis and metrology. A particularly compelling technique that relies on the broadband coherence of two laser frequency combs is dual-comb interferometry. This method is rapidly advancing the field of optical spectroscopy and empowering new applications, from nonlinear microscopy to laser ranging. Up to now, most dual-comb interferometers were based on modelocked lasers, whose repetition rates have restricted the measurement speed to ~ kHz. Here we demonstrate a novel dual-comb interferometer that is based on electrooptic frequency comb technology and measures consecutive complex spectra at a record-high refresh rate of 25 MHz. These results pave the way for novel scientific and metrology applications of frequency comb generators beyond the realm of molecular spectroscopy, where the measurement of ultrabroadband waveforms is of paramount relevance

Electro-optic dual-comb interferometry over 40-nm bandwidth

Dual-comb interferometry is a measurement technique that uses two laser frequency combs to retrieve complex spectra in a line-by-line basis. This technique can be implemented with electro-optic frequency combs, offering intrinsic mutual coherence, high acquisition speed and flexible repetition-rate operation. A challenge with the operation of this kind of frequency comb in dual-comb interferometry is its limited optical bandwidth. Here, we use coherent spectral broadening and demonstrate electro-optic dual-comb interferometry over the entire telecommunications C band (200 lines covering ~ 40 nm, measured within 10 microseconds at 100 signal-to-noise ratio per spectral line). These results offer new prospects for electro-optic dual-comb interferometry as a suitable technology for high-speed broadband metrology, for example in optical coherence tomography or coherent Raman microscopy

La primera, en la que la influencia de Edgar Allan Poe es notoria, y la segunda, en la que su estancia en Misiones, como fotógrafo en una expedición de Leopoldo Lugones, nos presenta al hombre en su lucha con los elementos de la naturaleza. Su estadía en la selva se le revela como el tema esencial de su obra. Una manera de apartarse del horror libresco que había aprendido en Poe, para enfrentarse al horror real de la naturaleza pródiga y feraz. En la segunda, la influencia de Rudyard Kipling es advertible, de él aprende el habla de los animales. Salvo que, para el primero, la selva es un tema literario, antes que una experiencia; mientras que para Quiroga, la selva es el hábitat que elige para vivir: un desterrado de la civilización que signa su modo de morir. In the narrative of Horacio Quiroga, the jungle is not a stage, but the environment itself. In his work, one can identify two stages. The first, in which the influence of Edgar Allan Poe is notorious; and the second, in which his stay in Misiones, as a photographer on an expedition of Leopoldo Lugones, shows a man in his struggle with the elements of nature. His stay in the jungle is revealed as the central theme of his work. Either as a way of departing from bookish horror learned from Poe and to face the real horror and fertile bountiful of nature. And in the second stage, the influence of Rudyard Kipling is obvious: from him he learns the speech of animals. Except that, for the first, the jungle is a literary subject, rather than an experience, while for Quiroga, the jungle is the habitat he chose to live at: an exile from civilization that marks his way to die. Quark degrees of freedom in hadronic systems

Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) is the theory of the strong interactions. We review descriptions of hadronic systems motivated by QCD, analyzing the recent controversy between gluonic and bosonic degrees of freedom under the prism of the Cheshire Cat Principle. Our analysis leads to an optimal scheme to study hadronic properties. We proceed to extend this low energy descriptions to the deep inelastic regime
