Sagnac loop in ring resonators for tunable optical filters
General filter architecture using co- and counterpropagation signals are studied. A specific configuration based on a Sagnac loop within a ring resonator is analyzed. Novel tuning, apart from conventional tuning, is achieved by changing the coupling ratio of a coupler through the adjustment of the equivalent loop length. Full equations describing the filter behavior in passive and active configurations, and simple closed-form formulas to compute the tuning, tolerance, and full-width at half-maximum are reported. The performance of these devices is discussed for their application as selective or channel-dropping ultra-narrow-band filters. The effect of losses and their dispersion properties are also discussed. These devices can be conveniently implemented, using silicon- or InP-integrated optic technology, for they have high free spectral ranges.Publicad

Measurements On Passive Tunable Optical Filters For DWDM
WFOPC 2002 IEEE/LEOS Workshop on Fibre and Optical Passive Components, University of Glasgow, Scotland, on 5th-6th June 2002.Measurements on a passive optical fibre tunable filter are presented. The device is based on a loop mirror in a ring resonator. The loop mirror allows tuning by changing the coupling coefficient of a coupler. The novel filter structure allows planar optical integration for having higher free spectral ranges. Novel and simple design equations for the filter parameters and the tuning process are reported. There is a good agreement between measurements and theory.Universidad Carlos III de MadridPublicad
Tunable Optical Filters Using Compound Ring Resonators for DWDM
The device is based on a loop mirror in a ring resonator. The loop mirror allows tuning by changing the coupling coefficient of a directional coupler. The loop mirror is implemented using a Sagnac configuration to have the same optical path between the signals to be interfered (copropagating and counterpropagating ones). The filter structure allows optical integration for having higher free-spectral ranges. Simple design equations for the filter parameters and the tuning are reported. Measurements on a passive optical fiber tunable filter are presented. There is a good agreement between measurements and theory.Publicad
CIRCULAR ECONOMY AND ENVIRONMENTAL BEHAVIOUR: A SYSTEMATIC LITERATURE REVIEW
The circular economy is a top priority issue on the European green agenda. However, despite this topic having been studied for decades, there seem to be no clear ideas about how to carry out the strategies and actions that allow achieving the presupposed objectives. For this reason, this paper aims to offer a systematic literature review that might provide researchers with a synthesis paper on what has been studied so far. To achieve that, descriptive and bibliometric analyses were performed on the bibliographic data obtained from the Web of Science. That, together with the study of the most prominent extant pieces of work in the field, both historical and present, allow offering a comprehensive picture of the state of arts. Thus, the main conclusions are that there is no clear study trend and, consequently, efforts are dissipating. In addition, the problem of the budget limitation is acknowledged since it might prevent researchers from carrying out solid experiments that may allow finding general solutions to the problems derived from the implementation of circular economy strategies or actions
Optical router for optical fiber sensor networks based on a liquid crystal cell
Optical fiber sensor networks are evolving rapidly. They are used because of the inert nature of optical fibers allowing no electromagnetic interference and safe applications in inflammable atmospheres; other relevant characteristics are their low weights and wide bandwidths as a transmission medium. In any case, it is very interesting to have specific components such as optical routers for selecting a certain path in a network with no optical to electrical and electrical to optical conversions. In this paper, we propose an all-optical router based on liquid crystals, polarizers, and a spatial split polarization beam splitter. The implemented device is designed to operate with visible light and it has been tested with plastic optical fibers. It has a crosstalk of 14 dB between selected ON channels and nonoperative OFF channels and 11-dB insertion losses. An average switch time of 100 ms is measured. The device checks the optical power level in each channel and, in case of failure, automatically switches to an operative channel while an alarm is activated.Publicad
The research presented in this work in this work bases on the study of the relations
which the determining factors of the Process of Strategic Management and Innovation
in the hotel organizations in our country, as well as to analyze the influence of the
innovation level on the competitive advantage and on the organizational results.
Overall, this study aims to provide a range of contributions in both theoretical and
practical. In the theoretical, the novelty lies in presenting the connections among the
factors that determine the strategic direction process and its impact on the level of
innovation, but have obvious points of contact, so far have not been subjected to
integrative by the literature. For this, the theoretical approach based on the Resources
and Capabilities is an influential and adequate theoretical framework for understanding
this connection. Empirically, the analysis of the strategic interrelations between certain
factors of the Model of Strategic Management and the degree of innovation, as well as
its impact in the enterprise results, will help to emphasize the importance of dealing
with the management the innovation like a strategy in itself, and to introduce them in
the model of strategic thought of the hotel chains with activity in our country
Inter-rater and intra-rater reliability of the extended TUG test in elderly participants
Background: To analyse the reliability, variance and execution time of the Extended Timed Up and Go (Extended
TUG) test in three age groups of elderly participants (G1: 55–64 years; G2: 65–74 years; G3: 75–85 years).
Methods: An analytical cross-sectional study of 114 recruited participants (63 women) of average age 70.17 (± 7.3) years
was undertaken. Each participant performed the Extended TUG three consecutive times, with a rest break between tests of
120 s. Both the intragroup and intergroup reliability of the measurements in the Extended TUG were analysed.
Results: The reliability of the Extended TUG test is excellent for the first and second decades but drops down to good for
the third decade. Specifically, intragroup reliability ranged from 0.784 for G3 to 0.977 for G1 (G2 = 0.858). Intergroup reliability,
compared with intragroup reliability, was slightly lower, ranging between 0.779 for G3 and 0.972 for G1 (G2 = 0.853).
Conclusion: The reliability of the Extended TUG test progressively decreases with increasing age, being excellent for the
younger age groups and good for the oldest age group
