    The association between personal belief in a just world, voice and burnout: A cross-sectional study in a sample of national guard police officers

    Voice is crucial both for the organizations, which benefit from new insights, and for the workers, who are able to express their concerns and ideas, having a great impact on their mental health (Cox et al., 2006). Actually, individuals who are afraid to voice are likely to show high levels of burnout (Hammond et al., 2019). In addition, continued exposure to job stressors put workers at risk of developing burnout (Penalba et al., 2008), as the case of the Republican National Guard Officers. The present study examined two parallel mediation models. The first model was a replication of a study conducted by Cheng et al. (2020), namely the association between personal belief in a just world (BJW) and voice, mediated by perceived voice efficacy (PVE) and perceived voice risk (PVR). The second model aimed to test the association between personal BJW and burnout (exhaustion and disengagement), mediated by PVE and PVR. Self-reported data was collected from National Guard Police Officers (N = 475). As expected, the results showed a positive association between personal BJW and employee voice, and a negative association between personal BJW and both dimensions of burnout. Additionally, the mediating effect of PVE was significant in both models. However, the mediating effect of PVR was only significant to the second model. These findings add knowledge to the existing literature on the fields of social psychology of justice, organizational citizenship behavior and mental health, and highlight the importance of reinforce organizational justice, by promoting BJW and voice behaviors.O comportamento de voz é fundamental quer para as organizações, que beneficiam de novos insights, quer para os trabalhadores, tendo um grande impacto na sua saúde mental (Cox et al., 2006). De facto, indivíduos com receio de adotar comportamentos de voz têm maior probabilidade de mostrar maiores níveis de burnout (Hammond et al., 2019). Ainda, a exposição continuada a stressores do trabalho coloca os trabalhadores em risco de desenvolverem burnout (Penalba et al., 2008), como é o caso dos agentes da Guarda Nacional Republicana. O presente estudo examinou dois modelos de mediação paralela. O primeiro modelo foi uma replicação do estudo de Cheng et al. (2020), nomeadamente a associação entre a crença num mundo justo (CMJ) pessoal e a voz, mediada pela perceção de eficácia de voz (PEV) e de risco (PRV). O segundo modelo teve como propósito testar a associação entre a CMJ pessoal e o burnout (distanciamento e exaustão), mediada pela PEV e pela PRV. Foram analisadas medidas de autorrelato de agentes da Guarda Nacional Republicana (N=475). Conforme esperado, os resultados mostraram uma associação positiva entre a CMJ pessoal e a voz do trabalhador, e uma associação negativa entre a CMJ pessoal e as duas dimensões do burnout. Ainda, o efeito da mediadora PEV foi significativo nos dois modelos. No entanto, o efeito mediador da PRV apenas foi significativo no segundo modelo. Estes resultados acrescentam conhecimento à literatura existente e sublinham a importância de reforçar a justiça organizacional, através da promoção da CMJ e dos comportamentos de voz

    Se realiza una reflexión sobre el estado actual de la técnica en el acabado ignifugo de tejidos, no tan sólo desde la perspectiva de la inflamabilidad, sino desde el concepto global de "Comportamiento al Fuego", que engloba tanto la reacción al fuego y frente a las diversas formas de propagación del calor, como la cuantificación de la adversidad de las atmósferas de combustión, exponiéndose una valoración objetiva de la eficacia de los productos comerciales que están a disposición del técnico acabador, en base a resultados que resumen estudios realizados por los autores, en los últimos años.A revision of the present situation of the techniques used in the finishing of fire-proof fabrics is made. The behaviour with the fire - including the reaction fire and the various forms of the heat propagation - and the quantification of the adversity of the combustion atmospheres is considered.     Optimization of the air cargo supply chain.

    Purpose: This paper aims to evaluate and optimize the various operations within the air cargo chain. It pursues to improve the efficiency of the air cargo supply chain and to provide more information to the decision-makers to optimize their fields. Design/methodology/approach: The method used is a process simulation modelling software, WITNESS, which provides information to the decision-makers about the most relevant parameters subject to optimization. The input for the simulation is obtained from a qualitative analysis of the air cargo supply chain with the involved agents and from a study of the external trade by air mode, given that their behaviour depend on the location. The case study is focused on a particular location, the Case of Zaragoza Airport (Spain). Findings: This paper demonstrates that efficiency of the air cargo supply chain can increase by leveraging several parameters such as bottlenecks, resources or warehouses. Originality/value: It explores the use of a simulation modeling software originally intended for manufacturing processes and extended to support decision making processes in the area of air cargo

    In the classical MHC class I Ag presentation pathway, antigenic peptides derived from viral proteins by multiple proteolytic cleavages are transported to the endoplasmic reticulum lumen and are then exposed to ami-nopeptidase activity. In the current study, a long MHC class I natural ligand recognized by cytotoxic T lymphocytes was used to study the kinetics of degradation by aminopeptidase. The in vitro data indicate that this N-extended peptide is efficiently trimmed to a 9-mer, unless its binding to the MHC molecules protects the full-length peptide.We thank Dr. A. K.     Infección cutánea por Alternaria triticina en un paciente con trasplante bilateral de pulmón

    We report the case of a 60-year-old man who was receiving immunosuppressive therapy for a bilateral lung transplant and presented with a crusted, violaceous plaque on the left hand. Based on histopathology and microbiological culture the patient was diagnosed with infection by Alternaria species. Treatment with itraconazole led to complete resolution of the skin lesion. Forty months later he developed four reddish, nodular, skin lesions on the left leg. Analysis of a biopsy from one of these lesions using histopathologic and molecular techniques identified a mold that shared 98% homology with a strain of Alternaria triticina. Alternaria species belong to a group of dematiaceous fungi that cause opportunistic infections in humans. The incidence of these infections is increasing, mainly in transplant centers. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first reported case of a human infection caused by A. triticinaPresentamos el caso de un hombre de 60 años en tratamiento inmunosupresor por un trasplante pulmonar bilateral que presentó una placa violácea costrosa en la mano. Se diagnosticó de infección por Alternaria spp mediante estudio histopatológico y cultivo microbiológico. El tratamiento con itraconazol condujo a la resolución completa de la lesión cutánea. Cuarenta meses más tarde el paciente desarrolló 4 lesiones nodulares rojizas en la pierna izquierda. Las muestras obtenidas de una de las lesiones fueron estudiadas mediante histopatología y técnicas moleculares. La secuencia de ADN que se obtuvo del germen causal mostraba una homología del 98% con una cepa de Alternaria triticina. Las especies de Alternaria forman parte del grupo de hongos que componen las feohifomicosis susceptibles de causar infecciones oportunísticas humanas. La incidencia de estas infecciones está aumentando, sobre todo en centros de trasplante.     Dual crop coefficient approach in vitis vinifera L. cv. Loureiro

    Vineyard irrigation management in temperate zones requires knowledge of the crop water requirements, especially in the context of climate change. The main objective of this work was to estimate the crop evapotranspiration (ETc) of Vitis vinifera cv. Loureiro for local conditions, applying the dual crop coefficient approach. The study was carried out in a vineyard during two growing seasons (2019?2020). Three irrigation treatments, full irrigation (FI), deficit irrigation (DI), and rainfed (R), were considered. The ETc was estimated using the SIMDualKc model, which performs the soil water balance with the dual Kc approach. This balance was performed by calculating the basal coefficients for the grapevine (Kcb crop) and the active soil ground cover (Kcb gcover), which represent the transpiration component of ETc and the soil evaporation coefficient (Ke). The model was calibrated and validated by comparing the simulated soil water content (SWC) with the soil water content data measured with frequency domain reflectometry (FDR). A suitable adjustment between the simulated and observed SWC was obtained for the 2019 R strategy when the model was calibrated. As for the vine crop, the best fit was obtained for Kcb full ini = 0.33, Kcb full mid = 0.684, and Kcb full end = 0.54.     Contaminación lumínica en el Anillo verde de Vitoria-Gasteiz

    Este trabajo ha consistido en tomar mediciones de la cantidad de iluminación que reciben distintos ecosistemas alrededor de la ciudad de Vitoria-Gasteiz, para posteriormente analizar y valorar esas mediciones. En primer lugar, se hizo una valoración medioambiental de los distintos espacios, haciendo referencia a los servicios ambientales que prestan y a la flora y fauna presente. En segundo lugar, se tomaron mediciones de la contaminación lumínica de los distintos espacios para así poder comparar y analizar posibles diferencias existentes. Posteriormente se han expuesto los efectos adversos de la contaminación lumínica sobre la salud y el medio ambiente. Por último, se han propuesto actuaciones para mitigar la contaminación lumínica y así contribuir al ahorro energético.<br /

    Roundup® exposure promotes gills and liver impairments, DNA damage and inhibition of brain cholinergic activity in the Amazon teleost fish Colossoma macropomum

    Roundup Original® (RD) is a glyphosate-based herbicide used to control weeds in agriculture. Contamination of Amazon waters has increased as a consequence of anthropogenic pressure, including the use of herbicides as RD. The central goal of this study was to evaluate the toxic effects of RD on juveniles of tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum). Our findings show that biomarkers in tambaqui are organ specific and dependent on RD concentration. Alterations in gills structural and respiratory epithelium were followed by changes in hematological parameters such as concentration of hemoglobin, particularly in fish exposed to the higher concentration tested (75% of RD LC50 96h). In addition, both RD concentrations affected the biotransformation process in gills of tambaqui negatively. Instead, liver responses suggest that a production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) occurred in fish exposed to RD, particularly in the animals exposed to 75% RD, as seen by imbalances in biotransformation and antioxidant systems. The increased DNA damage observed in red blood cells of tambaqui exposed to RD is in agreement with this hypothesis. Finally, both tested sub-lethal concentrations of RD markedly inhibited the cholinesterase activity in fish brain. Thus, we can suggest that RD is potentially toxic to tambaqui and possibly to other tropical fish species. © 2015 Elsevier Ltd
