In the second quarter of 2012, Spanish economy has come into a new recession period for the second time since the beginning of the economic crisis. The big decrease of economic activity is the cause of a new wave of employment destruction. As a result, the highest rate of unemployment in modern Spanish economic history has been reached, according to the data provided by the National Institute of Statistics. In this paper, we analyse the evolution of the main labour indicators in the Spanish and Andalusian Labour Markets. We pay special attention to the impact of economic crisis on different groups of workers according to their educational levels in the period 2008-2012

Spectroscopic characterisation of the stellar content of ultra diffuse galaxies

Understanding the peculiar properties of Ultra Diffuse Galaxies (UDGs) via spectroscopic analysis is a challenging task requiring very deep observations and exquisite data reduction. In this work we perform one of the most complete characterisations of the stellar component of UDGs to date using deep optical spectroscopic data from OSIRIS at GTC. We measure radial and rotation velocities, star formation histories (SFH) and mean population parameters, such as ages and metallicities, for a sample of five UDG candidates in the Coma cluster. From the radial velocities, we confirm the Coma membership of these galaxies. We find that their rotation properties, if detected at all, are compatible with dwarf-like galaxies. The SFHs of the UDG are dominated by old (~ 7 Gyr), metal-poor ([M/H] ~ -1.1) and alpha-enhanced ([Mg/Fe] ~ 0.4) populations followed by a smooth or episodic decline which halted ~ 2 Gyr ago, possibly a sign of cluster-induced quenching. We find no obvious correlation between individual SFH shapes and any UDG morphological properties. The recovered stellar properties for UDGs are similar to those found for DDO44, a local UDG analogue resolved into stars. We conclude that the UDGs in our sample are extended dwarfs whose properties are likely the outcome of both internal processes, such as bursty SFHs and/or high-spin haloes, as well as environmental effects within the Coma cluster.Comment: Accepted for publication in MNRA

Instalados en la recesión económica. Análisis de coyuntura del mercado de trabajo en el segundo semestre de 2012

    Get PDF

    Get PDF

Predictive models based on RSM and ANN for roughness and wettability achieved by laser texturing of S275 carbon steel alloy

    Get PDF
Laser texturing is increasingly gaining attention in the field of metal alloys due to its ability to improve surface properties, particularly in steel alloys. However, the input parameters of the technology must be carefully controlled to achieve the desired surface roughness. Roughness is critical to the activation of the surface before further bonding operations, and it is often assessed using several parameters such as Ra, Rt, Rz, and Rv. This surface activation affects the properties of the metal alloy in terms of wettability, which has been evaluated by the deposition of ethylene glycol droplets through a contact angle. This allowed a direct relationship to be established between the final roughness, the wettability of the surface and the texturing parameters of the alloy. This raises the interest of being able to predict the behaviour in terms of roughness and wettability for future applications in improving the behaviour of metallic alloys. In this research, a comparative analysis between Response Surface Models (RSM) and predictive models based on Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) has been conducted. The model based on neural networks was able to predict all the output variables with a fit greater than 90%., improving that obtained by RSM. The model obtained by ANN allows a greater adaptability to the variation of results obtained, reaching deviations close to 0.2 μm. The influence of input parameters, in particular power and scanning speed, on the achieved roughness and surface wettability has been figured out by contact angle measurements. This increases its surface activation in terms of wettability. Superhydrophilic surfaces were achieved by setting the power to 20 W and scanning speed to ten mm/s. In contrast, a power of 5 W and a scanning speed of 100 mm/s reduced the roughness values.Funding for open access charge: Universidad de Málaga / CBU

Triaxial stellar systems following the r1/n luminosity law: an analytical mass-density expression, gravitational torques and the bulge/disc interplay

    Get PDF
We have investigated the structural and dynamical properties of triaxial stellar systems whose surface brightness profiles follow the r1/n luminosity law - extending the analysis by Ciotti, who explored the properties of spherical r1/n systems. A new analytical expression that accurately reproduces the spatial (i.e., deprojected) luminosity density profiles (error less than 0.1 per cent) is presented for detailed modelling of the Sérsic family of luminosity profiles. We evaluate both the symmetric and the non-axisymmetric components of the gravitational potential and force, and compute the torques as a function of position. For a given triaxiality, stellar systems with smaller values of n have a greater non-axisymmetric gravitational field component. We also explore the strength of the non-axisymmetric forces produced by bulges with differing n and triaxiality on systems having a range of bulge-to-disc ratios. The increasing disc-to-bulge ratio with increasing galaxy type (decreasing n) is found to greatly reduce the amplitude of the non-axisymmetric terms, and therefore reduce the possibility that triaxial bulges in late-type systems may be the mechanism or perturbation for non-symmetric structures in the disc. Using seeing-convolved r1/n-bulge plus exponential-disc fits to the K-band data from a sample of 80 nearby disc galaxies, we probe the relations between galaxy type, Sérsic index n and the bulge-to-disc luminosity ratio. These relations are shown to be primarily a consequence of the relation between n and the total bulge luminosity. In the K band, the trend of decreasing bulge-to-disc luminosity ratio along the spiral Hubble sequence is predominantly, though not entirely, a consequence of the change in the total bulge luminosity; the trend between the total disc luminosity and Hubble type is much weake

We systematically reviewed the literature to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions aimed at improving adherence to medication among adults with depressive disorders with emphasis on initiation and implementation phase. Methods We searched Medline, EMBASE, The Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), PsycINFO, Social Science Citation Index and Science Citation Index for randomized or non-randomized controlled trials up to January 2022. Risk of bias was assessed using the criteria of the Cochrane Collaboration. Meta-analyses, cumulative and meta-regression analyses for adherence were conducted. Results Forty-six trials (n = 24,324) were included. Pooled estimate indicates an increase in the probability of adherence to antidepressants at 6 months with the different types of interventions (OR 1.33; 95% CI: 1.09 to 1.62). The improvement in adherence is obtained from 3 months (OR 1.62, 95% CI: 1.25 to 2.10) but it is attenuated at 12 months (OR 1.25, 95% CI: 1.02 to 1.53). Selected articles show methodological differences, mainly the diversity of both the severity of the depressive disorder and intervention procedures. In the samples of these studies, patients with depression and anxiety seem to benefit most from intervention (OR 2.77, 95% CI: 1.74 to 4.42) and collaborative care is the most effective intervention to improve adherence (OR 1.88, 95% CI: 1.40 to 2.54). Conclusions Our findings indicate that interventions aimed at improving adherence to medication among adults with depressive disorders are effective up to six months. However, the evidence on the effectiveness of long-term adherence is insufficient and supports the need for further research efforts. This study has been funded by Instituto de Salud Carlos III through the project "PI18/00767" (Co-funded by European Regional Development Fund/European Social Fund "A way to make Europe"/"Investing in your future")
