THE PRESENT STRUGGLES OF IMMIGRANT FARMWORKERS IN CALIFORNIA

Immigrant farm workers continue to be a vulnerable community despite the numerous services available to them. By interviewing people who work with immigrant farmworkers, we can determine what has worked in terms of efforts to help immigrant farm workers and what issues persist today. Prior research has shown the many troubles these individuals have faced due to the type of work they do, as well as the ramifications due to their undocumented status. The purpose of this research was to find what can be causing these persistent barriers to a more safe, healthy, and long fulfilling life, and attempt to remove these barriers. We used qualitative methods and conducted interviews with people from different agencies and work settings to hopefully solve this problem. Based on our analysis of the data, we found that there were four common themes throughout our interviews which included health, fear, housing, and pay. These findings impact Social Work practice as it highlights the lack of social welfare and justice in California. Also, by shedding light on the need for advocacy for health care programs and immigration reforms and policies to reduce the anxiety and fear of deportation. These findings are also significant to Social Work as it proves the importance of research in our field in order to start a call for action to fix these systemic issues

Origin of coherent structures in a discrete chaotic medium

Using as an example a large lattice of locally interacting Hindmarsh-Rose chaotic neurons, we disclose the origin of ordered structures in a discrete nonequilibrium medium with fast and slow chaotic oscillations. The origin of the ordering mechanism is related to the appearance of a periodic average dynamics in the group of chaotic neurons whose individual slow activity is significantly synchronized by the group mean field. Introducing the concept of a "coarse grain" as a cluster of neuron elements with periodic averaged behavior allows consideration of the dynamics of a medium composed of these clusters. A study of this medium reveals spatially ordered patterns in the periodic and slow dynamics of the coarse grains that are controlled by the average intensity of the fast chaotic pulsation

Cobertura y satisfacción en los asegurados de ESSALUD

Nuestra investigación es tipo descriptivo correlaciona!, en tanto se mide, describe en base a instrumentos tales como el análisis documentario proporcionados por instituciones en la materia y de EsSalud y establece una relación múltiple entre la variable independiente y dependiente, por cuanto, se aportara evidencias empíricas correlaciona! entre cobertura y satisfacción de los asegurados de EsSalud de los distritos de Miraflores, Santiago de Surco y San Miguel, aplicando para ello, el diseño no experimental, transeccional. No experimental por cuanto las encuestas y el análisis documentario se efectúan sin manipular deliberadamente, transeccional porque permite establecer las asociaciones establecidas entre las variables en un momento único en el tiempo, de acuerdo a características de hipótesis formuladas y a objetivos propios de la investigación y concordante al metodo hipotetico - deductivo partiendo de los hechos particulares obtenemos proposiciones de las hipotesis planteadas. La investigación Busca también identificar y precisar Jos factores, proponiendo una alternativa viable para resolver los problemas de cobertura y satisfacción de los asegurados en EsSalud, que propiciará en mejorar las condiciones de gestión en salud. La población asegurada es de 482 649 asegurados y una muestra de 384 personas, como resultado de la investigación es la correlación entre las variables principales, es decir, que a mejor utilización de la cobertura, mayor será la satisfacción de los asegurados en EsSalud, obteniendo mayor accesibilidad y oferta de servicios de salud en especial de capa simple. Asimismo, el resultado de la encuesta señala que un 73% de asegurados están insatisfechos por el servicio que recibe de EsSalud, un 795 considera que es necesaria la participación de entidades privadas, permitiendo a futuros emprendedores privados plantear alternativas de solución en accesibilidad y oferta de servicios en salud a la población asegurada de capa simple en los distritos de Miraflores, Santiago de Surco y San Miguel.Our research is descriptiva, correlational, as measured, described on the basis of instruments such as documentary analysis provided by institutions in the field and EsSalud and establishes a multiple relationship between the independent and dependent variable, because, it uses empirical evidence correlation between coverage and Jnsured satisfaction EsSalud district of Miraflores, Santiago de Surco and San Miguel, applying the non-experimental, transactional because no experimental surveys and documentary analysis are performed without handling deliberately trans because it allows the partnerships established between the variables in a single moment in time, according to characteristics of hypotheses and research objectives specific and consistent and holistic approach to the inductiva method based on the particular facts get propositions general. The investigation also seeks to identify and determine the factors, proposing a viable alternativa to solve the problems of coverage and satisfaction EsSalud insured, which will encourage to improve conditions in health management. The insured population is insured 482.649 and a sample of 384 people, as a result of the research is the correlation between the main variables, namely, that the better use of cover, the greater the satisfaction of policyholders EsSalud, getting more availability and supply of health services in particular single layer. Furthermore, the result of the survey showed that 73% of policyholders are dissatisfied with the services you receive from EsSalud, 79% believe it is necessary to involve prívate entities, allowing prívate entrepreneurs to raise future alternativa solutions in availability and supply health services to the insured population of single layer~in the districts of Miraflores, Santiago de Surco and San Miguel

A Meta-Review of Indoor Positioning Systems

An accurate and reliable Indoor Positioning System (IPS) applicable to most indoor scenarios has been sought for many years. The number of technologies, techniques, and approaches in general used in IPS proposals is remarkable. Such diversity, coupled with the lack of strict and verifiable evaluations, leads to difficulties for appreciating the true value of most proposals. This paper provides a meta-review that performed a comprehensive compilation of 62 survey papers in the area of indoor positioning. The paper provides the reader with an introduction to IPS and the different technologies, techniques, and some methods commonly employed. The introduction is supported by consensus found in the selected surveys and referenced using them. Thus, the meta-review allows the reader to inspect the IPS current state at a glance and serve as a guide for the reader to easily find further details on each technology used in IPS. The analyses of the meta-review contributed with insights on the abundance and academic significance of published IPS proposals using the criterion of the number of citations. Moreover, 75 works are identified as relevant works in the research topic from a selection of about 4000 works cited in the analyzed surveys

Applications of CVD to Produce Thin Films for Solid‐State Devices

Thin films of Pt‐YSZ and Pd‐ZrO2 cermets by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) from metallorganic precursors (MOCVD) were evaluated as electrode in solid‐state devices. Morphology and structural characteristics were studied by X‐ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electronic microscopy, atomic force microscopy (AFM), and transmission electronic microscopy (TEM). Electrochemical performance was determined using Tafel and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy methods. Metallorganic precursors were used (metal‐acetylacetonates), and argon and oxygen were used as the carrier and reactive gases, respectively. The particle average size was less than 20 nm, with high and uniform particle dispersion according to TEM measurements

Violent extremist group ecologies under stress

Violent extremist groups are currently making intensive use of Internet fora for recruitment to terrorism. These fora are under constant scrutiny by security agencies, private vigilante groups, and hackers, who sometimes shut them down with cybernetic attacks. However, there is a lack of experimental and formal understanding of the recruitment dynamics of online extremist fora and the effect of strategies to control them. Here, we utilize data on ten extremist fora that we collected for four years to develop a data-driven mathematical model that is the first attempt to measure whether (and how) these external attacks induce extremist fora to self-regulate. The results suggest that an increase in the number of groups targeted for attack causes an exponential increase in the cost of enforcement and an exponential decrease in its effectiveness. Thus, a policy to occasionally attack large groups can be very efficient for limiting violent output from these fora.National Science Foundation (U.S.) (Grant 0905645)United States. Revisión de la psicología junguiana y sus posibles nexos con el pensamiento complejo: en la búsqueda de una psicoterapia compleja

This article develops several foundations of the Jungian psychology from the direct elaborations of its creator the Swiss psychologist Carl Gustav Jung, perspective also called, by many psychologists of this theory, like complex psychology. At the same time, some key ideas regarding Edgar Morin's complex thinking are presented, whose sustenance is derived from the complexity paradigm. In this exercise are found guidelines that could provide an epistemological support to some Jungian concepts, proposing, in turn, another look at this psychological current. Thus, as Jung proposed, it is understood that the recognition of the unconscious depths is as necessary for the subject as the understanding of his conscious and the dynamics between both. Recalling that, according to the complex thinking, it is in the concurrence, from where a more real approach towards the understanding of the systems is possible. It is understood then that the unconscious should not be explored exclusively in relation to that which afflicts the subject, as a repetition (circular), but also as to its creative facet —unconscious that with the help of consciousness, it becomes recursive (spiral) and source of healing.Este artículo desarrolla varios fundamentos de la psicología junguiana desde las elaboraciones directas de su creador, el psicólogo suizo Carl Gustav Jung; la perspectiva propuesta es también llamada, por muchos psicólogos de esta teoría, psicología compleja. A la par, aquí se exponen algunas ideas claves referentes al pensamiento complejo de Edgar Morin, cuyo sustento es derivado del paradigma de la complejidad. En este ejercicio se encuentran pautas que podrían brindar un sustento epistemológico a algunos conceptos junguianos proponiendo, a su vez, otra mirada a esta corriente psicológica. Así, tal como lo propuso Jung, se entiende que el reconocimiento de las profundidades inconscientes es tan necesario para el sujeto como el entendimiento de su consciente y la dinámica entre ambos; por otra parte, que, según el pensamiento complejo, es desde la concurrencia donde es posible un acercamiento más real hacia la comprensión de los sistemas. Se comprende, entonces, que el inconsciente no debe ser explorado exclusivamente en relación a eso que aqueja al sujeto, a manera de repetición (circular), sino también en cuanto a su faceta creadora nconsciente que, con ayuda de la consciencia, se torna recursivo (espiral) y fuente de sanación

Falta de recursos de impugnación en condena del absuelto, y su afectación al derecho a la Instancia plural, Perú 2021

La investigación tuvo como objetivo analizar la implicancia de la falta de recursos de impugnación en la condena del absuelto y su afectación al derecho a la instancia plural, para lo cual se realizó una investigación de tipo cualitativa básica, orientada a la teoría fenomenológica, siendo los principales aportes las Casaciones emitidas por la Corte Suprema, el Tribunal Constitucional, los cuales se recabaron mediante el análisis documental, así como la recolección de la opinión técnica de expertos en Derecho Penal a través de la Entrevista; obteniéndose como resultado que la falta de recurso de impugnación en la Condena del Absuelto incide en la afectación del derecho a la igualdad de armas toda vez que el derecho a la impugnación de las sentencias judiciales se encuentran limitadas para el condenado por primera vez en segunda instancia, por ello, de los resultados de la investigación se advierte que la vía más idónea para regular este vacío procesal sería promulgar una ley de apertura de la Casación en la cual se dote al Supremo Tribunal, con las limitaciones pertinentes, de conocer como una tercera instancia estos procesos especiales a efectos de cautelar el derecho de los justiciables
