    This workshop aims at stimulating and opening a debate around the capacity of Participatory Design (PD) and other co-design approaches to deliver outcomes and methodologies that can have an impact and value for reuse well beyond the local context in which they were originally developed. This will be achieved by stimulating the submission of position papers by researchers from the PD community and beyond.These papers will be discussed during the workshop in order to identify challenges, obstacles but also potentials for scaling up PD processes and results from the local to the global.</p

    Spectacle 2.0 recasts Debord's theory of spectacle within the frame of 21st century digital capitalism. It offers a reassessment of Debord’s original notion of Spectacle from the late 1960s, of its posterior revisitation in the 1990s, and it presents a reinterpretation of the concept within the scenario of contemporary informational capitalism and more specifically of digital and media labour. It is argued that the Spectacle 2.0 form operates as the interactive network that links through one singular (but contradictory) language and various imaginaries, uniting diverse productive contexts such as logistics, finance, new media and urbanism. Spectacle 2.0 thus colonizes most spheres of social life by processes of commodification, exploitation and reification. Diverse contributors consider the topic within the book’s two main sections: Part I conceptualizes and historicizes the Spectacle in the context of informational capitalism; contributions in Part II offer empirical cases that historicise the Spectacle in relation to the present (and recent past) showing how a Spectacle 2.0 approach can illuminate and deconstruct specific aspects of contemporary social reality. All contributions included in this book rework the category of the Spectacle to present a stimulating compendium of theoretical critical literature in the fields of media and labour studies.     Effect of nanoclay loading on zeta potential of polyester nanocomposite fibre

    Polyester (PET) nanocomposite fibres have been melt spun by adding master batches of linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) loaded with organophilic nanoclay after compatibilizing the PET and LLDPE. The spun fibres show increased hydrophobicity which further increases progressively with the amount of nanoclay loaded into the fibre. The addition of this nanoclay also results in improved dyeability of the nanocomposite fibres with acid dyes due to the presence of quaternary ammonium organic substituent that is present in the nanoclay. There is slight decrease in tensile strength of the fibre accompanied by the decrease in elongation %, indicating that the addition of nanoclay makes the filaments stiffer. The onset of crystallization temperature occurs at higher temperature in case of composite fibres than in case of neat PET fibre because of nucleating effect of nanoclay

    The Impella recover LP 2.5 is a percutaneous left ventricular assist device (LVAD) recently approved for use in patients undergoing high risk percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and also in cases of cardiogenic shock. There is limited evidence available in literature about its safety, especially with regards to the incidence of local vascular complications, their management and long-term implications. We report here the first case of a serious local vascular complication—superficial femoral artery thrombus formation during Impella recover LP 2.5 use in a high risk PCI which was managed successfully with novel aspiration thrombectomy catheter (Pronto V3), which in itself is the first reported use of Pronto V3 in such a vascular complication

    Cultural and morphological studies on Ponnampet leaf and neck blast isolates of Magnaporthe grisea (Herbert) barr on rice (Oryza sativa L.)

    The study was carried out to standardize the optimal growth, sporulation and production of perfect stage of pathogen on different media. Among different media used such as Potato dextrose Agar (PDA), Oat meal Agar, Ragi flour agar, yeast extract + 2% soluble starch, Host extract + 2% soluble sucrose agar, Potato dextrose agar + Biotin + Thiamine and Rice flour agar, Oat meal agar and potato dextrose agar was found to be best media for radial growth and sporulation of M. grisea. Maximum conidia length (9.46?m) and breadth (7.36?m) was recorded in Oat meal agar followed by Potato dextrose agar and least conidia length (6.15 ?m) and breadth (5.11 ?m) was recorded in ragi flour media after 20 days of inoculation. Conidial size varied in leaf and neck blast isolates, the maximum mean colony diameter of 88.00mm and 89.16mm in neck and leaf blast was recorded in Oat meal agar respectively. The maximum sporulation mean index was observed in Oat Meal agar of 3.15 ?m in leaf and 3.20 ?m in neck blast was recorded. The best growth of the pathogen was recorded at optimum pH range from 6.0 - 7.0 and temperature of 27oC. Therefore oat meal agar media was found to be best among all the media used for growth, sporulation, conidial size and colony characters of M. grisea

    PERBEDAAN KADAR NATRIUM (Na+) SEBELUM DAN SESUDAH HEMODIALISIS PADA PASIEN GAGAL GINJAL KRONIK DI RS PANTI RAPIH YOGYAKARTA

    Latar Belakang: Gagal ginjal kronis merupakan penurunan fungsi ginjal secara menetap. Penurunan fungsi ginjal dapat menyebabkan ketidakseimbangan elektrolit tubuh, termasuk natrium. Salah satu terapi yang dilakukan adalah hemodialisis, yaitu untuk membuang zat toksik dan sisa metabolisme dari tubuh. Tujuan Penelitian: Mengetahui perbedaan kadar natrium (Na+) sebelum dan sesudah hemodialisis pada pasien gagal ginjal kronik di RS Panti Rapih Yogyakarta. Metode Penelitian: Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian observasional. Populasi studi penelitian ini adalah pasien gagal ginjal kronik yang melakukan hemodialisis di RS Panti Rapih Yogyakarta dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 42 orang yang diambil dengan cara quota sampling. Pengambilan darah dilakukan sebelum hemodialisis dan segera sesudah hemodialisis yang kemudian dilakukan pengukuran kadar natrium darah. Secara deskriptif dilakukan pengelompokan data berdasarkan jenis kelamin dan umur. Data penelitian secara statistik diolah menggunakan Uji Independent T-test. Hasil Penelitian: Terjadi perbedaan kadar natrium pada pasien sebelum dan sesudah hemodialisis sebanyak 19 sampel (45 %) mengalami kenaikan (p = 0,000) dan sebanyak 18 sampel (43 %) mengalami penurunan (p = 0,007). Sebanyak 8 responden (19,0%) mengalami hiponatremi sebelum hemodialisis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa proporsi tertinggi dari pasien gagal ginjal kronik di RS Panti Rapih Yogyakarta berjenis kelamin laki-laki sebanyak 32 responden (76,2%), berusia 60 tahun 19 responden (45,2%). Kesimpulan: Ada perbedaan kadar natrium (Na+) sebelum dan sesudah hemodialisis pada pasien gagal ginjal kronik di RS Panti Rapih Yogyakarta

    Co-designing convivial tools to support participation in community radio

    Connectivity made possible by the diffusion of digital technologies has offered new possibilities for the public to interact with media, including radio. However, interactions are often framed by globally managed platforms, owned by companies with values based on maximizing profit, rather than prioritising Illich’s forms of conviviality. In this article, we draw on experiences from the Grassroot Wavelengths project that introduces an innovative peer-to-peer platform to support the creation and management of community radio stations. We offer insight into the practices of participation in community media, where the users influence decisions concerning the technology, the content, the actors and the organization policy of the radio station, through a participatory design approach. These collaborations between researchers and users, together with a focus on the development of relational assets in local contexts, are fundamental in an attempt to design a platform that fosters conviviality and offers an alternative way to consider participation in community media
