The influence of surface roughness on the rheology of immersed and dry frictional spheres

Pressure-imposed rheometry is used to examine the influence of surface roughness on the rheology of immersed and dry frictional spheres in the dense regime. The quasi-static value of the effective friction coefficient is not significantly affected by particle roughness while the critical volume fraction at jamming decreases with increasing roughness. These values are found to be similar in immersed and dry conditions. Rescaling the volume fraction by the maximum volume fraction leads to collapses of rheological data on master curves. Desempleo y salarios en España y la Unión Europea

Mi objetivo de estudio es el desempleo y los salarios en España, Alemania, Italia, Polonia y Reino Unido, desde el año 2000 hasta el año 2015. Con mi trabajo pretendo esclarecer lo que es el desempleo, las causas del desempleo, las remuneraciones salariales y la evolución que ha tenido a lo largo de la última década. La muestra escogida la realizaré observando a través de gráficas desde el año 2000 hasta el 2015, durante esos años se muestra una época de expansión económica en toda la Unión Europea, y una época de recesión la cual ha afectado a casi todos los países. Tanto el desempleo como las remuneraciones salariales las relacionaré a través de la inflación, observando en las gráficas si al aumentar el salario ha subido el promedio de los precios de consumo y a causa de ello se ha incrementado el desempleo.Grado en Relaciones Laborales y Recursos Humano

Marketing mix y la fidelización del cliente de la empresa Garú textiles internacionales, Guayaquil 2021

En la empresa Garú textiles internacionales, uno de los problemas es el marketing mix y la fidelización del cliente ya que la organización no hace uso de las herramientas del marketing mix para comercializar la venta de sus productos; viendo afectado de esta manera la fidelización del cliente, resaltando que en estos dos últimos años sus ventas han bajado en un 35% debido a la pandemia y a la falta de estrategias que brinda el marketing mix; perdiendo la oportunidad de poder fidelizar sus clientes; por ello el objetivo general fue determinar la relación entre el marketing mix y la fidelización del cliente de la empresa Garú textiles internacionales, Guayaquil 2021; el tipo de estudio fue aplicado con diseño no experimental, con una muestra de 196 clientes a quienes se les aplicó 2 cuestionarios; concluyendo que existe correlación positiva muy alta entre el marketing mix y la fidelización del cliente de la empresa Garú textiles internacionales, Guayaquil 2021; por lo tanto cuando el marketing mix sea eficiente entonces la fidelización del cliente también lo será

Experimental evidence of shock mitigation in a Hertzian tapered chain

We present an experimental study of the mechanical impulse propagation through a horizontal alignment of elastic spheres of progressively decreasing diameter $\phi_n$, namely a tapered chain. Experimentally, the diameters of spheres which interact via the Hertz potential are selected to keep as close as possible to an exponential decrease, $\phi_{n+1}=(1-q)\phi_n$, where the experimental tapering factor is either $q_1\simeq5.60$~% or $q_2\simeq8.27$~%. In agreement with recent numerical results, an impulse initiated in a monodisperse chain (a chain of identical beads) propagates without shape changes, and progressively transfer its energy and momentum to a propagating tail when it further travels in a tapered chain. As a result, the front pulse of this wave decreases in amplitude and accelerates. Both effects are satisfactorily described by the hard spheres approximation, and basically, the shock mitigation is due to partial transmissions, from one bead to the next, of momentum and energy of the front pulse. In addition when small dissipation is included, a better agreement with experiments is found. A close analysis of the loading part of the experimental pulses demonstrates that the front wave adopts itself a self similar solution as it propagates in the tapered chain. Finally, our results corroborate the capability of these chains to thermalize propagating impulses and thereby act as shock absorbing devices.Comment: ReVTeX, 7 pages with 6 eps, accepted for Phys. Diseño de una máquina centrífuga para el aprovechamiento de las proteínas del suero de leche mediante la producción del requesón a una humedad relativa aproximadamente del 60% con una capacidad de 1 Kg/hora, para el sector rural

La presente tesis comprende el diseño de una máquina centrífuga, la cual posee como objetivo y función principal el aprovechamiento absoluto de las proteínas del suero de leche, mediante la producción del requesón a una humedad relativa cercana al 60%. La máquina ha sido proyectada exclusivamente para el sector rural por lo cual el motor seleccionado es monofásico con una potencia de 1.5 kW, esto se debe a que en muchas zonas rurales no se cuenta con un sistema trifásico, por ello se deja la opción directa para el motor monofásico; por otro lado, la máquina centrífuga es un prototipo, lo que condiciona que su capacidad de trabajo sea baja, esto es de 1kg/hora de requesón. A su vez se ha diseñado lo más compacta posible, por lo cual ocupa un espacio de 1064mm de largo por 500mm de ancho y una altura de 1147mm. El encendido de la máquina será por medio de un tablero de control, en el cual se ha incorporado el cambio de velocidades. Se ha propuesto dos velocidades de trabajo: una baja de 1200 rpm y otra alta de 2600 rpm. La transmisión de potencia se realizará a través de un sistema de poleas y fajas trapezoidales. La máquina cuenta con una canasta rotor en la cual se verterá el suero de leche precalentado y por medio de un filtro se realizará la separación de la precipitación de caseína (requesón), dicha separación se intensificará y se acelerará con la ayuda de la fuerza centrífuga debido a que el rotor estará girando a altas revoluciones (1200 rpm o 2600 rpm). El tiempo de centrifugado es aproximadamente de 20 minutos, tiempo en el cual la máquina estará trabajando sin interrupciones, cerrada en su totalidad. Luego se procederá a apagar la máquina para descargar el requesón obtenido en la canasta rotor, para finalmente vaciar el contenido de manera manual.Tesi

Wave localization in strongly nonlinear Hertzian chains with mass defect

We investigate the dynamical response of a mass defect in a one-dimensional non-loaded horizontal chain of identical spheres which interact via the nonlinear Hertz potential. Our experiments show that the interaction of a solitary wave with a light intruder excites localized mode. In agreement with dimensional analysis, we find that the frequency of localized oscillations exceeds the incident wave frequency spectrum and nonlinearly depends on the size of the intruder and on the incident wave strength. The absence of tensile stress between grains allows some gaps to open, which in turn induce a significant enhancement of the oscillations amplitude. We performed numerical simulations that precisely describe our observations without any adjusting parameters.Comment: 4 pages, 5 figures, submitted for publicatio

Ionizing feedback from massive stars in massive clusters: Fake bubbles and untriggered star formation

We use Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics to simulate the formation of a massive (10^6Msun) stellar cluster system formed from the gravitational collapse of a turbulent molecular cloud. We investigate the hierarchical clustering properties of our model system and we study the influence of the photoionizing radiation produced by the system's multiple O-type stars on the evolution of the protocluster. We find that dense gas near the ionizing sources prevents the radiation from eroding the filaments in which most of the star formation occurs and that instead, ionized gas fills pre-existing voids and bubbles originally created by the turbulent velocity field.Comment: 9 pages, 12 figures, accepted by MNRA

Toxicological and therapeutic evaluation of the algae Macrocystis pyrifera (Phaeophyceae) in rodents

Macrocystis pyrifera is a giant brown seaweed with high nutritional content, used as a dietary supplement in some farm animals. It contains fucoidan which has a pharmacological effect on lipids and glucose metabolism. Some brown seaweeds can bioaccumulate toxic elements in their cell wall, representing a problem if toxicity tests that guarantee the safety of their consumption are not done. M. pyrifera, does not present toxicological studies that guarantee its safety. This work aimed to perform the acute and subchronic toxicological evaluation of M. pyrifera in rodents as well as to determine its possible therapeutic effect. Fronds of M. pyrifera were collected in Baja California Sur, Mexico, for drying and obtaining algae flour. The acute toxicity test LD50 was performed in C57BL / 6 male mice (25 ± 3 g) for 7 days, finding an LD50 greater than 10 g kg-1. Subchronic toxicity was determined for 121 days in adult male Sprague Dawley rats (98 ± 2 g), during which the experimental animals showed no signs of toxicity, or changes in the hematological, biochemical and histopathological parameters of the organs. The reactive oxygen species, lipid peroxidation or glutathione ratio were not different from the control group. A therapeutic effect on the regulation of body weight and a hypolipidemic effect (triacylglycerides: 82.27 ± 5.55 mg dl-1, cholesterol: 98.61 ± 6.48 mg dl-1) were found. It is concluded that, under the conditions in which this study was developed, the consumption of M. pyrifera as a functional ingredient is safe

Equipamiento para la atención de la salud mental, breve diagnóstico en México

Infrastructure or equipment in the health sector for the care of mental illnesses refers to all constructions, services, and improvements to new or existing buildings for this need. The present work was based on a descriptive theoretical investigation with a mixed approach. A brief diagnosis of the referred urban equipment was developed. Through the theoretical and statistical review, the mental health care needs in Mexico were analyzed, as well as their impact and repercussions on the population in an economic and morbidity manner. The public policies that have been developed to provide care to this health sector unfortunately have not been sufficient, more efforts are required, since statistically in Mexico about 2% of the national budget is allocated to care for mental health conditions.  Well below the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO), which suggests that it be 5 to 10%.La infraestructura o equipamiento del sector de la salud para la atención de las enfermedades mentales se refiere a todas las construcciones, servicios y mejoramiento de las edificaciones nuevas o existentes destinadas a esta necesidad. El presente trabajo se basó en una investigación de tipo teórica descriptiva de enfoque mixto. Se desarrolló un breve diagnóstico del equipamiento urbano referido. A través de la revisión teórica y estadística se analizaron las necesidades de atención de la salud mental en México, así como su impacto y repercusiones en la población de manera económica y de morbilidad. Las políticas publicas que se han desarrollado para dar una atención a este sector de la salud lamentablemente no han sido suficientes, se requieren más esfuerzos, pues estadísticamente en México se destina cerca del 2% del presupuesto nacional para la atención de los padecimientos de la salud mental, muy por debajo de las recomendaciones de la Organización Mundial de la salud (OMS), la cual sugiere que sea del 5 al 10 %
