    An observational study on use of maternal risk factors, mean arterial pressure, mean uterine artery pulsatility index and serum placenta like growth factor for screening of preeclampsia in first trimester

    Background: Preeclampsia (PE) affects 2-3% of all pregnancies and is a major cause of maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality. In the last decade extensive research has been devoted to screening for PE with the aim of reducing the prevalence of the disease through pharmacological intervention in the high-risk group. In our study we used the combined screening method to evaluate the risk of developing preeclampsia in pregnant women. Our primary objective was to estimate the screen positivity rate for preeclampsia using the first trimester combined screening method (maternal risk factors and biophysical methods) in our population in a tertiary care hospital setting. Methods: Risk of preeclampsia was calculated using fetal medicine foundation algorithm accessed at https://fetalmedicine.org/research/assess/preeclampsia. Results: Using the combined screening method, 10 out of 75 women (13.33%) were found to be screen positive for risk of developing preterm preeclampsia (at <37 weeks) with a risk cut off of 1:100. Using the maternal risk factors approach only (as per NICE guidelines) again 10 out of 75 women (13.3%) were found to be screen positive. However, the subset of women who were screen positive by each method were not the same. There were only 4 out of 10 women who were screen positive by both methods. The screen positivity rate for preterm preeclampsia (<37 weeks) in our population using combined screening approach was 13%, which means aspirin would be advisable to 13/100 pregnant women to reduce the risk of preterm preeclampsia. Conclusions: Basis on our study we concluded that one cost effective method of screening could be, to offer aspirin to all women who are screen positive by the maternal risk factor approach (NICE guidelines approach). This approach does not require any extra blood test or skill to measure uterine artery pulsatility index

    Peserta didik mempunyai gaya belajar yang berbeda-beda. Gaya belajar tersebut meliputi auditori, visual dan kinestetik (VAK). Seorang guru harus mampu memenuhi kebutuhan masing-masing gaya belajar peserta didik tersebut. Salah satu cara yang dapat dilakukan adalah dengan menggunakan media pembelajaran berbasis VAK. Media pembelajaran berbasis VAK dapat dipenuhi dengan menyisipkan file video di dalamnya. Selain itu, penggunaan file video sebagai media pembelajaran mendukung implementasi pembelajaran saintifik pada kurikulum 2013. Namun, belum semua guru memiliki kemampuan untuk mengemas file video tersebut dalam bentuk media pembelajaran. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kemampuan guru-guru di SMA Negeri 1 Teras dan SMA Negeri 1 Boyolali dalam membuat media pembelajaran berbasis VAK dengan kombinasi software Format Factory, U-Lead dan PowerPoint. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan kemampuan para guru di SMA Negeri 1 Teras dan SMA Negeri 1 Boyolali dalam membuat media pembelajaran. Peningkatan kemampuan guru-guru tersebut berada di atas target yang direncanakan. Rerata peningkatan kemampuan guru-guru di SMA Negeri 1 Teras 7,87% di atas target, sedangkan di SMA Negeri 1 Boyolali 9,58% di atas target. Kata kunci: Media Pembelajaran, Format Factory, U-Lead, PowerPoint Students have different learning styles. Learning styles include visual learners, auditory learners, and kinesthetic learners. A teacher must be able to fulfill the needs of individual students\u27 learning styles. One way that can be applied is using Visual, Audio and Kinesthetic (VAK) learning media based. VAK-learning media based can be created by inserting video files on it. In addition, using video file as a learning media can support the implementation of scientific learning on the 2013 curriculum. However, not all teachers have the ability to use video files into a learning media. The purpose of this study is to improve the teachers\u27 ability at SMA Negeri 1 Teras and SMAN 1 Boyolali on making VAK-learning media based with a combination of Format Factory, U-Lead and PowerPoint software. The results showed that the teachers\u27 ability on making VAK-learning media based was increased. Increased the teachers\u27 ability was above planned target score. The mean score of the teachers\u27 ability at SMA Negeri 1 Teras 7.87% above the target, while at SMAN 1 Boyolali 9.58% above the target

    A Drosophila-centric view of protein tyrosine phosphatases

    AbstractMost of our knowledge on protein tyrosine phosphatases (PTPs) is derived from human pathologies and mouse knockout models. These models largely correlate well with human disease phenotypes, but can be ambiguous due to compensatory mechanisms introduced by paralogous genes. Here we present the analysis of the PTP complement of the fruit fly and the complementary view that PTP studies in Drosophila will accelerate our understanding of PTPs in physiological and pathological conditions. With only 44 PTP genes, Drosophila represents a streamlined version of the human complement. Our integrated analysis places the Drosophila PTPs into evolutionary and functional contexts, thereby providing a platform for the exploitation of the fly for PTP research and the transfer of knowledge onto other model systems

    Search for gravitational-lensing signatures in the full third observing run of the LIGO-Virgo network

    Gravitational lensing by massive objects along the line of sight to the source causes distortions of gravitational wave-signals; such distortions may reveal information about fundamental physics, cosmology and astrophysics. In this work, we have extended the search for lensing signatures to all binary black hole events from the third observing run of the LIGO--Virgo network. We search for repeated signals from strong lensing by 1) performing targeted searches for subthreshold signals, 2) calculating the degree of overlap amongst the intrinsic parameters and sky location of pairs of signals, 3) comparing the similarities of the spectrograms amongst pairs of signals, and 4) performing dual-signal Bayesian analysis that takes into account selection effects and astrophysical knowledge. We also search for distortions to the gravitational waveform caused by 1) frequency-independent phase shifts in strongly lensed images, and 2) frequency-dependent modulation of the amplitude and phase due to point masses. None of these searches yields significant evidence for lensing. Finally, we use the non-detection of gravitational-wave lensing to constrain the lensing rate based on the latest merger-rate estimates and the fraction of dark matter composed of compact objects

    Search for eccentric black hole coalescences during the third observing run of LIGO and Virgo

    Despite the growing number of confident binary black hole coalescences observed through gravitational waves so far, the astrophysical origin of these binaries remains uncertain. Orbital eccentricity is one of the clearest tracers of binary formation channels. Identifying binary eccentricity, however, remains challenging due to the limited availability of gravitational waveforms that include effects of eccentricity. Here, we present observational results for a waveform-independent search sensitive to eccentric black hole coalescences, covering the third observing run (O3) of the LIGO and Virgo detectors. We identified no new high-significance candidates beyond those that were already identified with searches focusing on quasi-circular binaries. We determine the sensitivity of our search to high-mass (total mass M>70 M⊙) binaries covering eccentricities up to 0.3 at 15 Hz orbital frequency, and use this to compare model predictions to search results. Assuming all detections are indeed quasi-circular, for our fiducial population model, we place an upper limit for the merger rate density of high-mass binaries with eccentricities 0<e≤0.3 at 0.33 Gpc−3 yr−1 at 90\% confidence level

    Ultralight vector dark matter search using data from the KAGRA O3GK run

    Among the various candidates for dark matter (DM), ultralight vector DM can be probed by laser interferometric gravitational wave detectors through the measurement of oscillating length changes in the arm cavities. In this context, KAGRA has a unique feature due to differing compositions of its mirrors, enhancing the signal of vector DM in the length change in the auxiliary channels. Here we present the result of a search for U(1)B−L gauge boson DM using the KAGRA data from auxiliary length channels during the first joint observation run together with GEO600. By applying our search pipeline, which takes into account the stochastic nature of ultralight DM, upper bounds on the coupling strength between the U(1)B−L gauge boson and ordinary matter are obtained for a range of DM masses. While our constraints are less stringent than those derived from previous experiments, this study demonstrates the applicability of our method to the lower-mass vector DM search, which is made difficult in this measurement by the short observation time compared to the auto-correlation time scale of DM

    A Rare Index Presentation of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma

    Hodgkin’s lymphoma almost invariably presents as generalised lymphadenopathy. Neurological involvement in Hodgkin’s is such a rare occurrence that not many case reports are available highlighting its importance. Also, cord compression more commonly occurs in non Hodgkin’s lymphoma rather than Hodgkin’s and is a manifestation of advanced disease. Refuting these common perceptions, the present case report discusses a 28-year-old male patient with complaints of low grade fever since three months followed by motor weakness of both lower limbs along with bladder involvement. Systemic examination revealed multiple lymph nodes in right cervical region along with features of extramedullary cord compression with spinal level at D4. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) revealed an epidural mass in the spinal canal extending from D2-D4, causing cord compression. Histological examination with immunohistochemical analysis of cervical lymph nodes demonstrated a mixed cellularity type Hodgkin’s lymphoma. With appropriate imaging and prompt pathology guided chemotherapeutic regimen, the neurological function were restored without the need for any surgical intervention. Hence, it is important to also consider Hodgkin’s lymphoma in the setting of spinal cord compression along with other causes especially in Indian scenarios where tuberculosis is the closest differential bias encountered. Also, early diagnosis and evidence-based prompt treatment is crucial in preventing further neurological worsening and may curb the need for surgery
