Evaluation of LANDSAT MSS vs TM simulated data for distinguishing hydrothermal alteration
The LANDSAT Follow-On (LFO) data was simulated to demonstrate the mineral exploration capability of this system for segregating different types of hydrothermal alteration and to compare this capability with that of the existing LANDSAT system. Multispectral data were acquired for several test sites with the Bendix 24-channel MSDS scanner. Contrast enhancements, band ratioing, and principal component transformations were used to process the simulated LFO data for analysis. For Red Mountain, Arizona, the LFO data allowed identification of silicified areas, not identifiable with LANDSAT 1 and 2 data. The improved LFO resolution allowed detection of small silicic outcrops and of a narrow silicified dike. For Cuprite - Ralston, Nevada, the LFO spectral bands allowed discrimination of argillic and opalized altered areas; these could not be spectrally discriminated using LANDSAT 1 and 2 data. Addition of data from the 1.3- and 2.2- micrometer regions allowed better discriminations of hydrothermal alteration types
Processing of multispectral thermal IR data for geologic applications
Multispectral thermal IR data were acquired with a 24-channel scanner flown in an aircraft over the E. Tintic Utah mining district. These digital image data required extensive computer processing in order to put the information into a format useful for a geologic photointerpreter. Simple enhancement procedures were not sufficient to reveal the total information content because the data were highly correlated in all channels. The data were shown to be dominated by temperature variations across the scene, while the much more subtle spectral variations between the different rock types were of interest. The image processing techniques employed to analyze these data are described

Color enhancement of landsat agricultural imagery: JPL LACIE image processing support task
Color enhancement techniques were applied to LACIE LANDSAT segments to determine if such enhancement can assist analysis in crop identification. The procedure involved increasing the color range by removing correlation between components. First, a principal component transformation was performed, followed by contrast enhancement to equalize component variances, followed by an inverse transformation to restore familiar color relationships. Filtering was applied to lower order components to reduce color speckle in the enhanced products. Use of single acquisition and multiple acquisition statistics to control the enhancement were compared, and the effects of normalization investigated. Evaluation is left to LACIE personnel
Effect of age on exercise capacity and cardiac reserve in patients with pulmonary atresia with intact ventricular septum after biventricular repair
OBJECTIVESIn patients with pulmonary atresia with intact ventricular septum (PAIVS), biventricular repair is considered to be the optimal treatment option in the absence of significant right ventricular (RV) hypoplasia. However, long-term clinical outcome studies are limited. We evaluated exercise capacity and cardiac function during pharmacological stress in children and young adults with PAIVS after biventricular repair.METHODSTen PAIVS patients after biventricular repair, with a median age of 12 years (range 9-42 years), underwent a cardiopulmonary exercise test, dobutamine stress magnetic resonance imaging (DS-MRI) and delayed contrast enhancement (DCE) MRI.RESULTSThe patients' ages negatively correlated with exercise capacity (r = -0.72, P = 0.01) as well as left (LV) and RV stroke volume (SV) response to pharmacological stress (r = -0.72, P = 0.02; and r = -0.64, P = 0.04; respectively), Furthermore, older age was associated with decreased RV E/A volume ratio and increased pulmonary late diastolic forward flow percentage (r = 0-0.65, P = 0.04, r = 0.66, P = 0.03, respectively). RV E/A volume ratio positively correlated with RV-SV response to DS-MRI (r = 0.77, P = 0.009). and O(2)-pulse during physical stress correlated with biventricular SV response to DS-MRI. No RV or LV ventricular myocardial fibrosis was detected.CONCLUSIONSIn PAIVS patients after biventricular repair exercise capacity and cardiac reserve decrease with age. These findings appear to be related to impaired diastolic RV function and decreased RV filling, indicating that the function of the relatively small RV deteriorates with tim
A literature review on agility- is there a need to develop a new instrument?
The current research provides a review of the literature while contributing to the academic understanding of agility concepts and their backgrounds. The study identified 73 peer reviewed articles on a systematic review process, based on a three-phase purification process. Data
reduction processes use combinations, sentence strings, and keyword updates, title, abstract, and conclusion used in the search. The papers identified focused on agility subdomains business, organizational, strategic, and operational agility. The acknowledged gaps in understanding and developing the art and sub-domains have been identified and categorized according to the conceptual, contextual, and practical areas. Apart from that, the findings show that there is a need to develop separate scales for agility sub-domains to achieve, to get better results without having their scale researcher struggle to get the desired results using a simple agility scale. The paper concludes by highlighting the implications for managers, researchers and suggests a number of future research areas
Measurement of the Branching Fraction for B- --> D0 K*-
We present a measurement of the branching fraction for the decay B- --> D0
K*- using a sample of approximately 86 million BBbar pairs collected by the
BaBar detector from e+e- collisions near the Y(4S) resonance. The D0 is
detected through its decays to K- pi+, K- pi+ pi0 and K- pi+ pi- pi+, and the
K*- through its decay to K0S pi-. We measure the branching fraction to be
B.F.(B- --> D0 K*-)= (6.3 +/- 0.7(stat.) +/- 0.5(syst.)) x 10^{-4}.Comment: 7 pages, 1 postscript figure, submitted to Phys. Rev. D (Rapid

Study of e+e- --> pi+ pi- pi0 process using initial state radiation with BABAR
The process e+e- --> pi+ pi- pi0 gamma has been studied at a center-of-mass
energy near the Y(4S) resonance using a 89.3 fb-1 data sample collected with
the BaBar detector at the PEP-II collider. From the measured 3pi mass spectrum
we have obtained the products of branching fractions for the omega and phi
mesons, B(omega --> e+e-)B(omega --> 3pi)=(6.70 +/- 0.06 +/- 0.27)10-5 and
B(phi --> e+e-)B(phi --> 3pi)=(4.30 +/- 0.08 +/- 0.21)10-5, and evaluated the
e+e- --> pi+ pi- pi0 cross section for the e+e- center-of-mass energy range
1.05 to 3.00 GeV. About 900 e+e- --> J/psi gamma --> pi+ pi- pi0 gamma events
have been selected and the branching fraction B(J/psi --> pi+ pi- pi0)=(2.18
+/- 0.19)% has been measured.Comment: 21 pages, 37 postscript figues, submitted to Phys. Rev.
Measurement of Branching Fraction and Dalitz Distribution for B0->D(*)+/- K0 pi-/+ Decays
We present measurements of the branching fractions for the three-body decays
B0 -> D(*)-/+ K0 pi^+/-B0 -> D(*)-/+ K*+/- using
a sample of approximately 88 million BBbar pairs collected by the BABAR
detector at the PEP-II asymmetric energy storage ring.
We measure:
B(B0->D-/+ K0 pi+/-)=(4.9 +/- 0.7(stat) +/- 0.5 (syst)) 10^{-4}
B(B0->D*-/+ K0 pi+/-)=(3.0 +/- 0.7(stat) +/- 0.3 (syst)) 10^{-4}
B(B0->D-/+ K*+/-)=(4.6 +/- 0.6(stat) +/- 0.5 (syst)) 10^{-4}
B(B0->D*-/+ K*+/-)=(3.2 +/- 0.6(stat) +/- 0.3 (syst)) 10^{-4}
From these measurements we determine the fractions of resonant events to be :
f(B0-> D-/+ K*+/-) = 0.63 +/- 0.08(stat) +/- 0.04(syst) f(B0-> D*-/+ K*+/-) =
0.72 +/- 0.14(stat) +/- 0.05(syst)Comment: 7 pages, 3 figures submitted to Phys. Rev. Let
