VALIDATION OF THE FACTOR STRUCTURE OF THE PARENT-ADOLESCENT RELATIONSHIP SCALE IN THE INDIAN CONTEXT

    Get PDF
Parent-Adolescent Relationship (PAR) gets transformed during adolescence, and there is a significant relationship between the adolescent\u27s adjustment and quality of this relationship. A loving and caring relationship full of acceptance with parents offers a health-oriented atmosphere for the growth of the child\u27s abilities in multiple ways. The research findings indicated that the quality of Parent-Adolescent Relationship (PAR) associates with a broader range of positive outcomes, including emotional and mental Well-being, adjustment with the environment, and social competence. The present study was designed to adopt a Parent-Adolescent Scale, which examines the parent-adolescent relation among adolescents of India. In the present study, 13 items from the Parent-Adolescent Scale 21, developed by Husseini et al. (2016), were translated in the Hindi language and adopted in the Indian context. A total 1000 adolescent students from different Hindi speaking states of India responded to the PARS13. An Exploratory Factor Analysis and a Confirmatory Factor Analysis were performed to test the factorial structure of the PARS13, and the internal consistency of the scale was studied. The results supported scale multidimensionality. The obtained Cronbach’s alpha revealed satisfactory internal consistency with a value of 0.82. Based on the psychometric properties obtained, it is concluded that PARS13 is a reliable measure to assess adolescents\u27 parent-adolescent relationship in India

RESILIENCE, EMOTION REGULATION, PEER RELATIONSHIP, HUMOR AND BODY-ESTEEM IN INDIAN COLLEGE STUDENTS

The aims of the present study were (1) to explore sex-related differences and (2) to estimate the associations between resilience, emotion regulation, peer relationship, humor, and body-esteem. A sample of Indian college students (N = 1000) took part in this study. They responded to the Hindi versions of the resilience scale, emotion regulation questionnaire for children and adolescents, peer relationship scale, humor style questionnaire, and body-esteem scale. Results indicated that men obtained higher mean scores on resilience, peer relationship, humor, and body-esteem than women. All the correlations between the variables were statistically significant and positive. It was concluded that those who consider themselves as resilient experienced greater emotion regulation, body-esteem, humor, and peer relationship

Origin and spread of human mitochondrial DNA haplogroup U7

Human mitochondrial DNA haplogroup U is among the initial maternal founders in Southwest Asia and Europe and one that best indicates matrilineal genetic continuity between late Pleistocene hunter-gatherer groups and present-day populations of Europe. While most haplogroup U subclades are older than 30 thousand years, the comparatively recent coalescence time of the extant variation of haplogroup U7 (~16–19 thousand years ago) suggests that its current distribution is the consequence of more recent dispersal events, despite its wide geographical range across Europe, the Near East and South Asia. Here we report 267 new U7 mitogenomes that – analysed alongside 100 published ones – enable us to discern at least two distinct temporal phases of dispersal, both of which most likely emanated from the Near East. The earlier one began prior to the Holocene (~11.5 thousand years ago) towards South Asia, while the later dispersal took place more recently towards Mediterranean Europe during the Neolithic (~8 thousand years ago). These findings imply that the carriers of haplogroup U7 spread to South Asia and Europe before the suggested Bronze Age expansion of Indo-European languages from the Pontic-Caspian Steppe region

Interplay of organizational justice, psychological empowerment, organizational citizenship behavior, and job satisfaction in the context of circular economy

    Get PDF
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is twofold: first, to examine relevant organizational “human” aspects that support circular economy (CE); and second, to investigate the influence of perception of organizational justice (OJ), psychological empowerment on job satisfaction ( JS) through mediating role of organizational citizenship behavior (OCB). Design/methodology/approach – The study used survey questionnaire. The data were statistically analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM) to test hypotheses of the study. Findings – OJ positively and significantly influences psychological empowerment. Also, it was found that OCB and psychological empowerment to positively and significantly influence JS. Furthermore, OCB positively and significantly mediates the influence of OJ and psychological empowerment on JS. Practical implications – Employees should be provided with fair and empowering environment to derive positive outcomes in terms of organizational citizenship behavior and JS. The study also suggests recognizing the importance of OCB in an organization to enhance JS and support CE. Originality/value – The study presents empirical evidence in Indian context on how to encourage employees to display voluntary job behaviors and keep them job satisfied

Case Reoprt: Isolated fracture of pisiform: case report of a rare injury of wrist

    No full text
Isolated fracture of the pisiform is an extremely rare injury. Generally fractures of the pisiform are associated  with fractures of other carpal bones or the distal radius. Fractures of the carpals and metacarpals account for  roughly 6% of all fractures. The average incidence of pisiform fractures is 0.2% of all carpal fractures and approximately half of them are isolated fractures. Fracture of the pisiform may be missed on standard  radiographs due to orientation of the fracture, improper wrist positioning, superimposition of adjacent bones, an inadequate number of projections or more obvious fractures of other carpal bones. Special radiographic projections such as carpal tunnel, scaphoid or supinated oblique view are indicated if routine AP and lateral views fail to demonstrate a fracture. MRI is the second-step imaging method in patients whose radiographs are negative or indistinct. MRI not only shows the fracture line but also shows marrow edema within the pisiform bone indicating fracture. Late sequels include pisotriquetral chondromalacia, subluxation and osteoarthritis consequent to poor alignment of the articular surfaces.KEY WORDS: Isolated fracture; Pisiform; Wrist injur

Influence of pendent alkyl chains on Heck and Sonogashira C-C coupling catalyzed with palladium(II) complexes of selenated Schiff bases having liquid crystalline properties

    No full text
The effect of pendent alkyl chain lengths on Heck and Sonogashira coupling has been investigated for the first time using air and moisture insensitive complexes, [PdLCl] (1-4), of selenated Schiff bases (L = L1 -L4), differing in length and number of pendent alkyl chain(s) and behaving as a (Se, N, O-) type of ligand. Differential scanning calorimetric (DSC) and polarized optical microscopic (POM) investigations show liquid crystalline nature of L1 and L2, which have one pendent alkyl chain of size C18 and C10 respectively. The yields of coupled products in catalytic Heck and Sonogashira coupling reactions were found good when amount of 1-4 used for them was 1.0 and 0.5 mol% respectively. The catalytic efficiency decreases with alkyl chain length of pendent arm of ligand for Heck coupling but remains unaffected in case of Sonogashira coupling. The in situ generation of palladium nanoparticles (NPs) protected with organoselenium species occurs in the case of Heck coupling. The length of pendent alkyl chain appears to control the dispersion and composition of these NPs and consequently the catalytic efficiency for Heck coupling. The black residues formed in the case of Sonogashira coupling catalyzed with 1 and 4 were found to have small fraction of NPs and a large proportion of big size aggregates. Their compositions for both the catalysts have been found nearly the same and due to predominance of aggregates, the efficiency remains almost unchanged on varying length of pendent alkyl chain. The two phase test for Heck coupling indicates that catalysis is largely heterogeneous
